Evening all! It’s Thursday Treasures time!
This weeks prompt is an interesting one. I wonder what Thankful will mean to you? I am thankful for a lot of things. Health, love, friendship, happiness! I know not all of these things apply to everyone and so I am thankful that I have them. This is what I decided to do with the prompt…
This is actually a page I started months ago at a crop and have only just got round to finishing. It made me remember how poorly I was at the time, and how the gift of the scarf made me happy at the time. The gift was from my friend Caroline who was leaving the area to live in Devon with her new found love, and soon to be hubby! It brought me comfort partly as it’s such a soft fabric, but also it felt like I was getting a hug from a friend when I wore it … I have a few scarves that I feel like that about because they remind me of friendship and the people who gave them to me mean so much to me! Anyways … When I look at the picture it certainly makes me thankful!
Now about the page. The scarf reminded me of Zentangle, and the doodled flowers cut from some dsp also reminded me of Zentangle so this is the direction I took the page in! The layout started at a crop months ago has changed very little, except due to some scruffy edges to the Wild Wasabi cardstock, I ended up trimming it, and then using my distressing tool to scruffy up the edges properly before mounting onto some Early Espresso cardstock as a base. I decided to add some more texture by adding in punched leaves using the Builder Bird punch and keeping them quite loose, and some candy dots to ground the green part of the layout.
I also added frank and honest journalling about my mental health at the time the picture was taken. Scrapbooking should not just be about good times and happy times. I also need it to help tell the story of me. And the bad time I was having at the time the photo was taken is part of what makes me me … So it had to be scrapped too!
So although the picture and page don’t mention thankful … This page does make me thankful. Thankful for friendships, my improved health and my art. All things I hope never to take for granted!
I wonder what you are thankful for?
