Congratulations Julie!

Today one of my friends at work graduated after many years of distance learning! I am so proud that she has done this for herself! And she deserves to take this time to celebrate.

I made a card from all of us at work… And of course had to make it special for Julie!

I started with a Kraft card blank and decided to keep it reasonably simple and not layer up for a change! I dug out the coloured embossing powders which I love using but rarely do because my heat tool is so temperamental.

I found the bird stamps that came with the CREATIVE STAMPING magazine a while back and hadn’t got to use until now! Perfect for Julie!

I love the rich red and brown colours I chose for this. I then decided to create a base for the bird to sit on, but kept it subtle.

I used the Hardwood background stamp and inked it patchily to create a soft background, using the stamp flexibly, rather than with a mount to stop harsh lines. I also stamped it in Crumb cake so it was more of a watermark. Then I added music stamps randomly, using the Baked Brown Sugar & Soft Suede ink to give a slightly different tone to the stamping and give it some depth.

Next I added some pearl gems, in a randomly dotted around type of way. Then it was time to soften the card a bit… Out came the ribbon box!

I chose some chevron ribbon and some twine mixed together to provide a wrap bow.

And then I decided to quit whilst I was ahead and not over egg the pudding … Jobs a good ‘un!

Congratulations Julie!

Happy crafting!
