Hi there. Hope you are well. Today I reclaimed the craft room for a few hours! After taking the parents to the airport to fly home to Spain I managed a couple of hours playtime in the craft room. I do love having the parents here, but miss my crafting time as the spare room is the craft room. So it was good to get back in there in the time I had to myself as I was off for the afternoon.
So what did I do? Well I did a page in my journal. Why? Well because my friend Rae inspired me to do so. She is running an art journalling weekly blog and encouraging art journallers… Experienced and novice to join her. So I count myself somewhere in the middle of that and wanted to join in this week.
The first challenge is … Firsts! So obviously not my first ever page… But my first of this year. I spotted the quote on Pinterest and thought it worked well!
The journal I grabbed is a not particularly good quality sketchbook I’ve had for a while. The pages bleed through so I decided to glue two together to give them more strength. I also added some washi tape to stop the paper tearing too much near the binding. Suspect there will be a fair few pages torn out if I carry on using this journal… Oh well… Started now and loved this page!
Dylusions spray through a stencil … In a complete aside… Dylusions acrylic paint launching at CHA this week… NEED!!! Anyways, added some ink with a dauber through a circle stencil and then outlined the circles.
Next I added the swirl from Everything Eleanor stamp set using the Inktense blocks to provide the watery look to the stamping. I added the Dictionary stamping then down the left hand side.
Then I stamped the letters out using some random stamps I picked up in Paperchase and handcut each one. Then stuck them down and outlined them.
When I had put them on the page I realised I needed a focal image… Just immediately thought of the coffee cup in Perfect Blend with the rule the world sentiment and thought it was perfect. Used some paper I had wiped the stencil off on for stamping the cup, and added some extra shading using Inktense. Then cut it out and stuck it down. Once it was stuck down I added some more shading to make it look more 3d. Finishing touch was adding the date to the bottom corner!
So two hours play… One page done… Happy girl!
