ATC gift… Embrace the white space

Hi there

On Tuesday night I held an art journalling session in my family room for some crafting friends… Some of whom have never done any art journalling before, so I started with a nice easy to follow page to start them off! I still maintain that art journalling is about the process more than the end result… But if you get a good end result too it is even better.

I designed a couple of pages and did them a week before the class so that I could show them some ideas of how to end up… Then they set off and did their pages.

Whilst I was thinking about how to teach the class and what order would be sensible for us all to work on the pages given our lack of space and supplies being shared across the whole table, I came up with the idea of showing what else could be made using the same techniques and layout. This way those who maybe aren’t as into art journalling as me, may be able to translate it to other crafts.

So my first port of call was to make a batch of ATC’s so each of them could have one as a gift for attending… Maybe stick it in their journal, or add it as a card topper or stick it on their fridge…. Their choice!

So this atc is a smaller version of the journal pages really… Same techniques, smaller scale!
Process pics…

Outlined the cardstock 2.25″x3.25″ with Big Brush faber castell pen in warm grey. Sprayed yellow Dylusions ink on one side of the card. Added three doodled lines and used the spritzer and Stampin write marker pen to add some poppy parade ink. On book print stamped a flower and added a wash of Island Indigo ink. Stuck flower onto atc over the doodled lines. Added some stamping of music notes. Stamped and coloured with Promarkers a butterfly from Papillion Pot Pourri and punched it out. Stuck butterfly onto the flower. Added the Enchanting stamped sentiment.

Next I cut some cardstock I had in the scraps box into ATC size and used this to mount the art work onto it. To this I added the ATC stamp and title etc.

Fast forward an hour later… Ten little lovely ATC’s made.

I love how these came together and used the same layout and techniques as the journal pages for the class. Not promising I will do a similar thing for all classes in future, but it is a cute idea!

Happy crafting!
