Playing with distress inks… Samples for tonights art journal session

Posted by

Yes it’s art journaling session time… Tonights main mixed media technique is using texture paste… But the backgrounds are all about distress inks… Remember these…

Well two of them are being used for the samples… I chose the one third from the left and the one on the right… First some water to lift the colour through a stencil…yes my favorite Claritystamps Jo’s Bubbles stencil…

Then a bit of stamping down one side (you can see it above using Clare Lloyd stamp).  Next tore a strip of book print and very carefully inked the edges, I say carefully as this is such delicate paper it tears so easily. This I stuck down close to the stamped border.

Next to choose some focal images and play stamping and colouring and cutting.  Relaxing and enjoyable pastimes!! Of course forgot to take any photos until the end such fun I was having!  Doh!

Sample one… Colors used for the background were: Vintage Photo, Mermaid Lagoon, Salty Ocean, Peacock Feathers,  stamps are all freebies with a magazine, texture paste used straight from bottle, added some gilding wax to texture paste lightly after it was dry.

Sample two colours used for background -Pumice Stone, Old Paper, Antique Linen, Fossilized Amber, stamps used are all Darcy ones for Paperartsy, texture paste had a bit of blue Dylusions ink added to it.

Love how these came out… Hope my friends like the techniques and create things they are pleased with too!

Happy crafting!
