Canvas and Mixed Media art, Darcy, Masks/Stencils

Art journalling session prep part two

As the theme of our session next week is flight I have two very different tags to share with the crafting gang inspired by this word.

First is using paint as the main media…

I brayered the paints for the background and then doodled a border on music paper, cut it out and brayered some more paint on that.

Then I stamped the main background feather using Darcy’s stamp for Paperartsy. . I also stamped and cut out the quote from the Darcy stamp set.

Once I had stuck down the quote I felt it needed a little something more so I hunted in my stencils and found a magazine freebie set which was a stencil and stamp set for feathers. So I used the stencil to add paint through in the pale blue, then over stamped with the feather in the black.
I am really happy with how this came out. A lovely colour combo too. This I may save this tag and add to a card rather than sticking it in my journal.

The second tag used Distress inks as the main media…

I chose Wild Honey, fired Brick and vintage photo as the colour scheme and blended them on the background. I then added the clocks and cogs stencil and added more fired brick through that. Then I flicked water and removed some of the ink. This gave a lovely background for stamping on. I have some old stamps in the stash that are travel related. I used the words travel, destination and discover to stamp on the background, vertically and horizontally. I did this in Sepia archival. Then I used Early Espresso su ink for the plane stamp.

The quote I found on the Internet and used alphas to stamp out onto cream cardstock. I outlined each word in Soft suede su marker and then decided it needed an embellishment so grabbed the screw head brads from the stash.

A more masculine tag and suitable for a card too so again think I made save it for a card rather than sticking it in the art journal.

So I think with these two very different tags, and the journal spread I shared yesterday the gang should have something that inspires them to play on Tuesday. Will of course pop back with results then.

Entering these for the Anything Goes challenge at Crafty sentiments challenge blog.

Happy crafting!
