A tag gift for my circle journallers

I decided to make some tags to go with the circle journal for each of the participants to have as a keepsake.

I started with distress stain in Fossilised Amber and Pumpkin Pie.  Then I added some Candied Apple.

Next I added more of the Fossilised amber to coat the tags.

Next I added the stencilling using the lovely circles stencil and the Candied Apple ink.

Next I decided it was time to add some stamping.

I added the circles from the Kim Dellow stamp set in the Fossilised amber ink.

Now to start getting the colours to pop… Black gesso through a stencil… and on the stamped sentiment from the Darcy stamps.

I also added some more stamping with the text heart from Darcy’s stamps. And this is how all 13 of the tags I made stayed whilst I tried to decide how to finish it off.

I then flipped over the tags and started adding colour to the backs of the tags as they were quite messy from the working on the other side.

I used the same colours and also added some Abandoned Coral distress stain too. Oh and I edged the tag front and back with the black gesso to frame the art.

I stamped the Darcy heart vine in the Smoky Slate distress ink and then coloured it in and went over the line art with Spectrum Noir pencils.

It doesn’t make a massive difference to the image in terms of the colour underneath showing through… but love the dimension it gives them and lifts then off the background a bit.

I then printed out messages to each of the participants using graph paper to make it a bit different.

Then came the dull part… cutting them out and adhering them to each of the 11 tags and outlining them! But worth it as they look lovely.

I then worked on the front again…

It took me ages to come up with this idea …. I cut a stencil from some scrap, mixed the glass bead gel with some Brusho for colour and then applied it thickly through the heart stencil. They were then left to dry overnight.

It’s quite subtle in some ways but not in others and defintely is a different type of embellishment!

So these lovely tags just needed some trim and they were ready to be sent with my journal on its journey. I found some old sari trimming trim and used that.

So happy with these and hope the recipient’s like them too! I also sent one to my friend Darcy who added the last page in my last journal as a thank you.

Happy crafting!

Catherine
