Canvas and Mixed Media art, Clare Lloyd, Masks/Stencils

Apologies for being AWOL again

Yup I disappeared from blog land again. Continuing dramas of the father in laws ill health and prolonged hospital stays, the unexpected and tragic death of another family member, an amazing holiday in Cornwall and now the move of the father in law into a care home and resulting clearing of his flat has kept me busy and away from crafting … and combined with this, my parents are still living in the craft room so popping in there for 10 mins crafting isn’t possible either.

The last bit changes tomorrow though as they are heading back to Spain so I get my craft room back and hopefully some time to pop in there in between the chaos of our life!

I did find an hour a few days ago to complete some ATC’S for a swap and finish a journal page started in early July.  The journal page is one in my Paperartsy challenge journal and was for the theme of Paper piecing.

I made the background using the distress ink pads and just pressing them straight onto the paper in a patchwork type of pattern. Then sprayed them to make them bleed slightly. Then used some die cuts I’ve had for a while from a scrapbook class Helen did.  Then I added gesso and acrylic paint to blend them in a bit.  Next I stencilled using Paperartsy stencils and added some stamping.  The paper pieced girl is a Clare Lloyd girl and I used some Stampin Up dsp for the dress.  Finally some doodles and the quote stamp I’ve had for a while and never got round to using before.

Not as happy with this page as I normally am but putting it down to being a little out of practice due to how long it’s been since I did any art journalling.  But still it is a page done in my challenge journal.  I am now a fair number of topics behind but will get there once the room is mine again I am sure.

See you tomorrow with the ATC share and hopefully some news that I am back in the room!

Happy crafting!
