Distress Crayons, Masks/Stencils

November’s Art Postcard swap … weather

Hello dear blog readers.

Today I’m sharing with you the postcard I made for the art postcard swap group I am a part of on Facebook.  Each month we get given a theme to work to for swapping a 6×4 postcard with another member.  The theme this month is weather!

I wasn’t entirely sure what to do at first but then found a stamp that made my decision for me in a freebie magazine set I had in my stash. It then reminded me of an art journal page I had made that I loved so much I also made a canvas board with the same theme.

I didn’t want to completely redo it… but wanted to use some of the same elements.

So I grabbed some cardstock, cut it to size and then gave it a coat of gesso. next I added a rainbow of distress crayons and blended them together with my finger and a little water.  I then took a Paperartsy stencil and a baby wipe and removed the colour through the stencil. Next to add texture … and he all important rain… I scraped clear gloss texture gel through the Dot fade stencil from Tim Holtz at he top of the card. This photo was taken when it was still wet so not transparent at this point!

Once it was dry it was time to add the main image using a Clarity stencil and black gesso.  The sentiment I stamped in archival.  Then I edged the postcard with the gesso too.

The finishing touch was he addition of some silver paint flicked across the whole postcard… magical rain!

A nice bright postcard with a positive message. Hope the recipient liked it.

Happy crafting !
