Yes I have made some Christmas cards… yes I know it’s only October but as I used most of the backlog of cards up last year it was wise to get started on this year’s sooner rather than later… and for this I made 12 over a few different sessions grabbing random bits of time and I thought masterboard approach was a good one to go for for this.
I grabbed some water colour cardstock and added water and brushos. (Yes part of my #31productchallenge first time the brushos have come out to play for me this month!)
Love how different they look once dry… although the lighting has turned this more green!
Then stamping … I got out the cute set of stamps from an old Creative Stamping magazine and created a set of stamps I could repeat as a pattern and stamped these all over.
Next I took a couple of the smaller images and stamped them in whisper white craft ink (#31productchallenge) and heat embossed them.
Then I cut the piece into 12 squares 3.5″ by 3.5″
Next it was time for focal images.
I stamped the cute animals from the set onto watercolour paper and heat embossed them. This didn’t work brilliantly but it was enough to provide some kind of edge to the lineart so I could colour the inages using my metallic water colour paints (#31productchallenge).
This gives the images some lovely shimmer. I started cutting images out and layering them onto the backgrounds and then decided to add some more shimmer in the backgrounds too as they looked a little flat. So I added the water colour paints to the images in the background and sometimes some flicks of paint.
Then I stamped the same sentiment 12 times and added it to the card panels and edged each of the panels in either the grey, island indigo or dapper denim.
All that remained was to add these to card blanks … so I chose 4×4 cards to add them to… and inside the card blanks I added a paper insert onto which I did some more stamping.
And this is them all finished off!
Super happy with these cute cards… and happy to have got the festive crafting underway!
