Sarah’s circle journal

Posted by

I have another circle journal contribution to share with you today… this is the first in the current round of journals and it’s in Sarah’s journal. And I videoed the process for you to watch.

My colour scheme is lime and teal for the whole year so this was the first of the journals to apply my colour scheme to.

I started with a piece of the handmade paper I had bought cut to the right size to cover the spread. Then I added gesso and then brushos for the background.

Then I added some Inktense marks too and left the page to dry.

Next I took the other special paper I had bought and die cut some rings and added them to the page.

Now I know these don’t look like the colour scheme as they have some purple and gold in them too but I couldn’t resist adding them! Hopefully they will blend in by the end and work with the colour scheme still!

Remember when I am working on this page at this stage I have no plan or idea as to what the final page will look like so it’s just a case of me adding layers and going with the flow!

Next I added more definition and shading with my Inktense before adding some modelling paste through a stencil. I then set it aside to dry again.

Once it was dry I added metallic art alchemy paint to the raised circles and a few splashes with the leftover paint. I also added some pen work using a metallic gelli roll pen to add further definition to the circles.

At this point I forgot photos… so it’s a good job I videoed so you can follow along. I decided to create some clusters of “flowers” using the Kim Dellow stamps water colouring them with oxides. I also added some stamping in the background in both ink and sparks art alchemy paint. I also added some white posca pen doodles and marks.

I then grabbed some leaves from my flower embellishment box to add to the clusters and also some blue gems to add more sparkle.

I finished off with some black gesso splat and lines to make sure it teamed with the edge of the page in the book which I had done in black gesso to frame the page.

And here it is, complete with some Tim Holtz stickers, in the sunshine.

Love the vibrancy of the colours and the textures I created.

It’s definitely not a specific image but instead a collection of colours and textures into a cluster. Hopefully Sarah likes what I made for her.

Happy crafting!

Catherine
