Claritystamps, Design Team

DT: CHNC: Use something old/upcycle

Hello there! Guess what… I joined another Design team so I could keep on top of the Christmas cards throughout the year… so I joined Craftyhazelnuts Christmas challenge weekly blog so that means 52 cards get done in a full year just by doing one a week… I can do this easily… she says this now! Ha ha ha!

Anyway the first challenge (they can be anything goes as long as it’s a Christmas card… but we have weekly prompts to help with the inspiration!) … is to use something old or upcycle… so I had a dig in the stamp box and came up with some pretty old stamps…

There is a clever corner stamp from Claritystamps, a very well used snowflake stamp (think this was bought from a bargain basket at a craft shop long since closed) and wordchain stamps from Claritystamps … a good set of stamps to play with… well here is what I ended up with…

So what did I do?

Well I made a pattern with the corner stamp and a lot of blue/ turquoise inks…

Then I stamped the sentiment onto vellum and heat embossed it in blue… before then stamping the large snowflakes and heat embossing them with sparkly silver.

I created a frame and mat from the same piece of blue cardstock and adhered all the layers together… the frame helps to add the vellum without the adhesive showing!

Then on the kraft card blank I heat embossed the corner snowflakes to bring the smaller snowflakes out more.

Love how this came out… and it’s an 8×8 card so really a special card with all those lovely layers.

It was good to play with these older stamps and create something fun and modern.

So why don’t you pop and see what the DT have been making… and why not join us and get a head start on your cards for in December!

Happy crafting!
