Happy 16th birthday to my princess

I’m writing this ahead of her day but still in disbelief it has been 16 years since my baby girl arrived. So proud of the woman she is becoming. Love her to the end of the earth (even although occasionally she drives me insane!).

Here is the card I made for her.

Green has become the colour of choice of late and we have just finished decorating her room with green panel effect wallpaper and light green walls. So I decided to use some of the last pieces of the Forever Greenery dsp I had in my stash and the gold die cut to create this 7×7 card.

Of course the Biggest Wish stamps got used… and some foam stickers for the large 16 in the middle!

I added some hand sewing and some lace (to reflect her love of sewing and textiles) and the fussy cut leaves reflect her wish to have lots of plants in her room (albeit fake ones as none of us are good at looking after plants).

I added foam between some layers so this has plenty of dimension and a white string bow to add more texture!

The inside I took some of the remaining paper and some of the die cuts to create a panel. Again a bit of sewing and sentiment stamped to finish off.

The envelope I kept really simple… just paper down one side.

So happy birthday dearest Maya … hope you have a fabulous birthday. We love you lots xxx

Happy crafting!

DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies

Hello!

Firstly thank you for popping by to my blog. Just wanted to put that there as I know blog reading is not something that everyone does, so thank you.

Today I have another design team contribution for the Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies blog.

I created this tag with lots of different bits and pieces … let me talk you through it as I forgot to take process pics.

I started with stamping and die cutting the Brilliant Wings stamp. This is great as it stamps and cuts out 6 different butterflies in one go. I stamped them onto the Petal Pink cardstock and used a mix of different ink colours and the stamping platform so there was a gradient in the colours stamped.

I also die cut one of the filigree butterflies from the die sets and inked that using my blending tool.

Next I took 2 tags and cut out a panel of one of them as an aperture. I inked and stamped round that using the Very Versailles stamps. And splattered some shimmery watercolour paint too so there was some shine.

I then took 5 of the butterflies and laid them out around the aperture and stuck the aperture tag down. I then trimmed them back so that they were smaller than the tag but visible through the gap.

Next I took my piercing tool and guide and pierced the edge of the tag. Love the effect this creates.

Next I did a little more very versailles stamping on the bottom tag so that I would come through the vellum a little.

I cut a panel of vellum to sit behind the aperture and then sandwiched the two tags together.

Next I stamped the hello sentiment and the fancy frame from very versaille and fussy cut them out and inked the edges to match the tag. I added them to the frame and then affixed the layered butterfly to the top.

Finally I added the trim on the top. Voila! A layered tag with lots of interest.

I’m actually going to enter this into the UK stampers forum tag swap as not joined in yet this month so seems like a good way of doing my DT and joining in a swap!

Lindsay Mason ATC swap : fabric

I joined in with the ATC swap that Lindsay Mason organised again.  The theme this time was fabric.  So I went with a bit of fabric, some netting, sewing and shrink plastic!!!???!!!

Paint smearing and stencilling… including some transparent glossy texture gel coloured with brusho.

I added some little patches of cotton fabric which I painted and stamped.  I also stamped a zip stamp in the background.

The stamps I wanted to use are all way too big for ATC art… so out came the shrink plastic.  I haven’t used this for ages… It is always such fun to create little embellishments!

Now to do some sewing & finish them off… and of course got side tracked and forgot to take photos!!!

I added trim, netting, brads, ribbon and bakers twine.  The oval sewing was done with a piercing mat to create the shape before hand sewing.

The base was made using some cardstock stamped to add texture.

Love how these turned out.

Happy crafting!
