Playing in my art journal

I had a little play in my journal just because… and I used scraps of paper and some masking tape before adding gesso. Then I added lots paint using a brayer and my fingers.

I also used Inktense to define some of the borders of the papers and layers and then pen and doodles.

I then added some doilies, a frame i had made with the stitched square and a digital stamp I had coloured with promarkers. I also found some butterflies that worked brilliantly with the colour scheme.

I also added lots of stickers and some rub ons.

I love the fact I used lots of bits and pieces from the stash that I have had for ages and yet managed to keep the page working as a cohesive page.

Happy crafting!

Finishing off scrapbook pages

Back to scrapping… and finally finished the pages started at Helen’s class a few weeks ago. The mixed media approach she took really inspired me… along with many Missy Widden YouTube videos I’ve been glued to recently!

So these were both using the packaging technique to add watery ink to the background cardstock and then using the Cupcakes and Carousels designer series paper to create different layers.

So the first one I did change up a bit by reducing the size and layering it onto the Crumb Cake cardstock.

I also added lots of stickers and rub ons and little word embellishments. As it’s a picture of men (my dad, and my two Dutch dad’s – it’s a long story!) I decided against adding too many embellishments.

I couldn’t resist the little making memories tags with brads though… or the pointing finger stickers…

So that’s my slightly more masculine page… now for my girlie one…

I adore this pic of my princess and me having some fun time on the floor.  The layout Helen designed worked well with this larger image.

I added lots of layers underneath the photo and found candi dots that worked with the colour scheme.  I love the rub on words and the fabric title sticker I used too. It’s great diving into the stash of stickers and finding things you have forgotten you owned. Especially helpful as March is meant to be my no stash buying month. I need to save for my hols!

So happy to have done some scrapping again… thanks Helen for getting me inspired again. So nice also to scale up from ATC size to 12×12 just for a change.

Happy crafting!

ICAD 2016 … warm up time

I’ve decided to play along with Index card a day challenge.  I’m not sure I intend to do all of them, but the ones that appeal I will do.

The challenge runs 1st June to 31st July for 61 days with the idea of creating on an index card every day.

There are some warm up challenges… of these (10 as of a couple of days ago when I wrote this post) I have done half so far.

Will try and share a few of the cards as I go along… but probably more likely to just share them in batches like this randomly throughout the period.

Happy crafting!

Scrapping again!

Yes I am scrapping again … although keeping my style quite mixed media for this page…

This was created because I stumbled across the paper and cardstock ready with the picture but nothing done with them in a scrapbook awaiting compiling.   So I did it there and them!

I cut the paper and layered everything up and stuck it down.  Then flicked gesso in a diagonal across the page.  Then I coloured some gesso with gelatos and added more splats.  I then hunted out some stickers and added those.  Then added some shading and colour using the gelatos.

I found some cute pearl star embellishments and added them along with the journalling strips and other stickers.

The photo I had already edited and added to before getting it printed.  I think this was using the Rhonna designs app.

So it was nice to do some scrapping on the spur of the moment … and to grunge it up a bit!

Happy crafting!

M&M v2: Happy Horseguards

Hello there! Second post of this years Moments & Memories challenge. My challenge is to find 12 ways of using this sketch to inspire me…

Now the sketch is fairly simple and I encourage people to join me and do something with it. You don’t have to follow to be exact replicas … Just get the feeling of the sketch in what you create.

Here is my second attempt.

I kept to simple clean bold lines for this one.

I used the fab I am Me dsp which is bold and clean and teamed it with a piece of 12×12 More Mustard (now retired) and some Basic Grey and Pool Party cardstock for matting.

I added some bits of Pool Party ribbon and a couple of the fab stickers from the This and That Epic Day sticker set… Perfect as they have some Pool Party ones so they match perfectly!

So for this page I kept quite rigidly to the sketch only adding the journaling pieces as additions and of course the title … Maybe next time won’t keep to it as faithfully.

Please do share if you do something with my sketch … I love seeing what people make! Last month, my friend Karen sent me two pages she did at the beginning of the month. Aren’t they lovely?
