Arrange a Wreath, Banner Pick a Punch, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Wreath Builder

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

Final day of Martin’s challenge and I made a really cute little card for the theme of Wreathed in Joy.

I definitely struggled with doing Martin’s daily challenge and so after the first week and a bit I’ve not really managed to do much …. but I’ve kept the challenge so it’s always something I can go back to be inspired by. It’s also been amazing seeing everyone’s interpretation of the themes and given me plenty of ideas to try out in future.

It is a 4×4 card and using the fabulous bright and cheery Parakeet Party cardstock… not exactly your traditional colour for Christmas .. but it is cute and I love it.

I used the Arrange a Wreath stamp to stamp the wreath to the right of the panel and a few additional leaves which I fussy cut out to add.

Then the sentiment I added to a banner that I made with the banner punch.

Next up I found some bows I had already die cut from scraps one one of which was a light blue colour and the other white. I added the green ink to both … the blue one heavily so it became very vibrant and darker and the white with a blending brush for a softer look. I added blending too over the stamper wreath to give the card some depth of colour.

I raised up the banner for dimension and added some of the little iridescent snowflakes onto the wreath for embellishment.

So cute and with that … Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge is over! What a fab challenge it has been when I’ve joined in. If you go on Instagram and use the hashtag you will see all the amazing cards people have made. It has been so inspirational!

Just three more to finish for my own challenge and I think we can safely say I’ve done my Christmas crafting for the year!

Happy crafting!

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

I found some pics on my phone from a card I made back in early November for the Martin’s Mayhem 30 day Christmas card challenge that I never shared with you.

The challenge was a colour one to use Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake and Evening Evergreen. I was also inspired by a book fold challenge another crafty friend was running on Facebook.

So this is the card I made. Crumb Cake base, cherry Cobbler coloured dsp, Trimmings and Tidings.

Then die cut out the star and backed the opening with more of the same stash of dsp but with an Evening Evergreen colour. Crumb Cake fancy star die cut twice and stacked. Some twine for the top.

Stamped the sentiment from Colorado Craft Company and die cut it twice and then embossed the stacked die cut twice so its a nice chunky and shiny embellishment. Added some Cherry Cobbler ribbon on the side and some clear gems for finishing.

Love this

Christmas to remember, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Sheena Douglass Embossing Folders

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

I saw the sketch Martin had created for the challenge on day 18 and knew how I wanted it to look … spoiler alert it didn’t end up looking like that! Best laid plans and all that.

I used vellum to create a panel over colourful strips of cardstock ehich i embossed to create the pattern and decided to sew into place. But then I had an argument with the sewing machine.

So I ended up cutting down the vellum to get rid of the ruined part and making a much smaller card.

I did manage to fix the machine but in changing the background and dimensions you kind of lose the coloured strips underneath and one got very wonky. By the point I decided to keep going as vellum is a precious commodity. Added a laser cut snowflake and the embossed sentiment onto the top and of course a few gems.

I do like this card … but you know when you have a plan and it doesn’t quite work … that’s what happened here.

Ah well something pretty came out of the 30 min wrestling session with the sewing machine … Guess that is all that matters!

Christmas Greetings, Joy, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Merry Moose, Peace & Joy, Ribbons

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

Day 11 for Martin’s #30daychristmascardmakingchallenge and the challenge is something white.

I fancied playing with vellum so I made a vellum card and then die cut a lot of the large panels to make the central part of the card and disguise glue etc. Some of these were in smoky slate rather than white but I think it all worked together.

On the front of the card I stamped the tress from Merry Moose a few times and then embossed them in white. Then used a blending tool and dark grey ink to blend over the top and then wiped the trees clean.

Next I asked the Joy word with a vellum shadow and white embossing onto the grey word. I decided to sandwich underneath the word and on top of the embossing the black and white ribbon to give some contrast and texture.

Then added the gems to finish off.

You can really see how the vellum is see through when the card is stood up albeit only semi-transparent.

Happy Moments, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Ribbons, Stampin Blends alcohol pens

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

Here is the card I made for the Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge for day 8… where the theme is all wrapped up.

I decided to use some very old stamps (Happy Moments) and stamped, coloured and fussy cut the stack of presents.

I then teamed it with papers and cut apart the images from a magazine kit.

I also embossed the white panel to give an extra bit of texture then an added a ribbon too and the printed sentiment label.

Also entering the wreaths challenge at Can you handle the pressure?

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

This is day 6 from Martin’s challenge … and it is Something Green.

I decided to do a mainly green image which was white embossed onto white but used lots of different green colours and added the ink using a waterbrush.

I then added layers under the main image with dsp and cardstock. I then wrapped with a green coloured twine and the sentiment circle is a brown to coordinate.

I then added some green glitter enamel gems.

Love this and think this is different for me especially with the colour scheme.

Christmas Greetings, Christmas Pinecone, Christmas Season, Christmas to remember, Emma Godfrey, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

Hello! Today I have the card from day 5 … where the challenge was a sketch. I hadn’t originally planned on doing the sketches but then inspiration struck so I went ahead and did it.

The sketch called for three panels and three embellishments and a sentiment … so I cut up a piece of the glossy paper that was a mop up piece that I had stamped on whilst making the star cards and then set aside. I then cut a piece of the die cut Pines pieces that again were just sitting on the desk.

Next I went for pine cones embellishments using the Christmas Season stamps. And a sentiment from the coordinating Christmas to remember stamps.

Finished off with the pearls to embellish.

Still can’t quite believe I’m still making all these Christmas cards… just hope Martin’s challenge doesn’t stop me from finishing my own!

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge

Day 3 of Martin’s challenge was Warm & Cosy so I grabbed these old favourite stamps from Creative Stamping magazine and stamped the bear in his lovely woolly jumper.

I added some ink to the image using a waterbrush and then cut him out. Then I added a fabric layer to the patterned paper and sewed around the edge … I figured the fabric would give the Cosy element. I added the sentiment to the patterned paper and raised it up on foam to add dimension.

Love how this one ended up.

Claritystamps, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Snow Crystal

Martin’s Mayhem Christmas card challenge

Day 2 of Martin’s challenge… theme of In the Snow... went bright and funky!

I heat embossed the Snow Crystal with white powder and then blended inks in blues and greens.

Then I added a panel of the Tahitian Tide cardstock and stamped and fussy cut the Claritystamps sentiment.

I also added one of the laser cut snowflakes.

It’s an usual size but will fit in a 5×7 envelope.

Darcy, Decorative Dots, Martin's Mayhem 30 day challenge, Ribbons, Stitched framelits

Martin’s Mayhem 30 day Christmas card challenge

Because I am a little mad I’ve joined in on another Christmas challenge …. this time the one Martin is hosting.

Day 1 was … Something Red … so here is my card using the lovely Paperartsy stamps my friend Darcy designed. Coloured them using ink blending, embossed a layer and added a ribbon. Sentiment heat embossed with a dark red colour powder.

I raised the sentiment circle and the leaves up on foam to give dimension. Cute! Well I think so.

Will be unlikely to do every day for the 30 day’s but will share what I do/did make.

Happy crafting
