HOTP, Tinsel Tuesday

Tinsel Tuesday November sketch

Regular readers of my blog will know I am a fan of setting myself some challenges at the beginning of the year… Well I haven’t done so well at meeting the challenges … But you know what I don’t care. I join in when I feel like it, and can be pretty faddy at times so quite often after an obsession has passed, a new one will arrive. Having said that this month I have at least tried to do Tinsel Tuesday… Although only made it to one card!

I wonder what you make from this sketch??? I made the following as a result of being inspired by the sketch…

20140717-230434-83074743.jpg

Ok I didn’t do the best job of keeping to the sketch but hey ho! This was really a big old inky bit of fun. Three layers of distress inked watercolour papers to create this vintage style card.

I used a mixture of Peeled Paint, Evergreen Bough, Weathered Wood & Fired Brick and some freebie HOTP stamps to create this. The diagonal line I switched direction on and used the snowflake stamp in Fired Brick to create in the bottom layer. I also ended up creating a sentiment topper too which wasn’t really in keeping with the sketch…but it was my starting point I promise!

So wonder if I will do anymore of my challenges… You will have to watch this space!

happy crafting!

Festival of Trees, Tinsel Tuesday

Tinsel Tuesday October Sketch

Three quarters of the year has passed already… So really there is very little time left to be making your Christmas cards so time to join in with my challenge methinks!

This months sketch is

But I forgot to make any cards to match the sketch! Doh! Will try and do some in a couple of days… But for now… I have this card to share which I made at the weekend at a charity crop using some borrowed stamps from Helen!

I used the fun Festival of Trees stamp set and created this fun little card!

Sorry it is a rubbish pic… Will upload a better one tomorrow when battery back in my camera!

Tinsel Tuesday September sketch

Yes yes yes … It really is time for another Tinsel Tuesday sketch … Christmas is creeping up quite quickly now as children go back to school after the holidays so time to start Christmas card crafting to make sure you meet your end of year deadlines.

I create Christmas cards all year round (mainly because I am a little mad) because it helps me make sure I am ready when it gets to the mad month! This challenge I set at the beginning of the year to create two cards based on a sketch I provide on the first Tuesday of the month. I haven’t always managed it but have kept the challenge going regardless!

This month the sketch is…

And this month I created two very different styles of card!

IMG_7121.JPG
I used Woodware stamps to create this simple card and coloured it with a mixture of inks. Quite fancy doing this one again with different colours like pink and blue for a funky themed one!

IMG_7112.JPG
This used some scraps I found of the fabulous Winter Frost DSP which I used in combination with come circles and a doily, and then the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes stamp set.

Love the different cards I made using the same sketch as the starting point!

Happy crafting!

Tinsel Tuesday August Sketch

This month I was ready for Tinsel Tuesday determined not be caught on the hop again!

Here is the sketch to inspire two cards…

And here are my creations!

20140717-225802-82682899.jpg
Ok so I changed the sketch a bit and went for a rectangle rather than circle topper! But it’s there in some form! Ha ha ha! Used the fab Woodware Christmas tree stamp set and made some fun with Fired brick distress ink, using water to remove colour from some of the circles with one of the little star stamps. Also used some Nitwit papers that came with a magazine for the backgrounds.

This one I flipped the sketch and again missed out the circle. Again plenty of distress ink, peeled paint, vintage photo, fired brick, another Woodware stamp and the same Nitwit papers. Also used the Claritystampsholly corners for the … well corners obviously!

Enjoy and happy crafting!

Argyle, Claritystamps, Festival of Prints, Ribbons, Sanded, Tinsel Tuesday, Washi tape

Tinsel Tuesday July Sketch

Ok it is official … I find starting the month on a Tuesday a little disconcerting because I forget about Tinsel Tuesday until the start of the month, then look for the first Tuesday only to find it is already upon me! Grrrrr! Ah well… Sketch was at the ready …

20130904-012653.jpg

And cards well to be honest I loved making them! Which bearing in mind I haven’t for the last two months (yes skipped June and May completely!)

Card One20140116-233412.jpg
I used a Paperartsy stamp from the stash for the main image, but also added some freebie HOTP edge stamp and the Sanded SU background stamp to make it even more grungy an image. Then I added the HOTP sentiment in black. I decided to team the Real red with the Basic Grey and black to make it quite dramatic, and then the modern dotty washi tape was a little pop I thought contrasted nicely. I love the word embossing folder and I did plenty of inking to define each layer. I also added the Claritystamps snowflake corner to the bottom layer of Basic Grey.

Card Two20140116-234153.jpg
Next up I stuck with the HOTP stamps and this time used the tree and the edge stamp. I also went with the Real Red and Old Olive combo … Classic Christmas colours after all?

I also used some of the Festival of Prints dsp stack from a couple of years ago and then the Argyle embossing folder to add texture to the vertical strip. I also added a black thin ribbon to finish it off. There are also some bit of stamping on the matting layers too, like the Claritystamps holly corner and the Sanded SU background stamp. These little touches finish it off brilliantly.

Hope you like what I did with the sketch this month. Let me know if you manage to join in. I love seeing what people make.

Happy crafting!

Tinsel Tuesday

Tinsel Tuesday April Sketch

This months Tinsel Tuesday did rather catch me by surprise! With the first Tuesday of the month being on the 1st it came round a little quicker than I had planned for! In addition, I never got round to doing another card for last months sketch. I did try but everytime I looked at the sketch I couldn’t get myself into a Christmas mood. So this week I only have a sketch for you … No card yet to go with it but I really will try and get at least two done in the next week or so… And maybe if I get a chance catch up with the one for March!

Having said all that I couldn’t not post a make today and it is Christmas themed so watch this space as I have another post coming up in a moment!

Happy crafting!

Papermania stamps, Tinsel Tuesday

Tinsel Tuesday March sketch

Third month of Tinsel Tuesday has come round so quickly! So far I have made 4 cards for Christmas already following the first two sketches…

What’s more I am not the only one. Karen joined in again last month and sent me this picture of her three creations based around the sketch I provided!

20140209-210757.jpg
Aren’t they fab? And so different each of them although using a similar colour scheme for all three. Well done Karen! Love them!

This months sketch is here for you to join in too!

20130904-011545.jpg

I used the sketch to create this card…

20140224-225248.jpg

This was a bit of an experiment! I used a card blank that I had stamped for the cards I made my cousin last year and ran out of toppers for … Never one to throw away I have a stash of these so expect to see more appear during the year! Ha ha!

I then added a topper which I created using the Papermania background stamp stamped in Soft Suede and inked the edges of. I decided to emulate the starburst by inking some lines with the Rich Razzleberry and a sponge. Not sure about whether this worked or not … But hey as I said this was a bit of an experiment card!

Then I created a little extra topper from the stamp off this months Craft Stamper magazine and water coloured it with the same ink.

I decided it needed a little colour so added mats in Rich Razzleberry, and a gold punched border and then a strip of lovely ribbon to finish it off!

Now I come to a small problem … I didn’t get round to making a second card as decided last night to get on with painting the bathroom instead! So before the month is out I will get round to doing the other card and will share it with you on another Tuesday instead!

For now though … Happy crafting!
