PATWITS circle journal spread

Time to share another PATWITS circle journal spread… This time in Linda’s fab journal that is made up of bits of recycled cardstock and a ring binder in the middle to put it together.  I love this idea.  And I was so inspired by the art journal I started my page the day I received the journal in the post!  Linda’s rules were to keep to the recycled theme and add either flowers or butterflies.

I did manage a fair number of process pics this time… So here you are…

I love the fact that you can still see a little of the original packaging … Although not enough to see it properly!

I was not sure exactly what to do with these tags at this point … But knew I wanted them somewhere on the layout.

This is the joy of the ring binder principle… You can lift it out and work on the pages outside… But it is important to keep checking what it looks like with the other pieces of art in the background… They act like a frame.  Now to work on embellishments…. Flower power!

Leaves were coloured using inktense but done in a similar way to the flowers…

SO this is how it stood at the end of the first day’s play…

I was loving how the composition was coming together.  I just needed to finish the background, and find a quote… And a way of finishing those tags off so they make sense.  I purposefully wasn’t sticking down much so that I could continue to fiddle with the layout and add more to the background.  Given I had a whole month to play with this layout I also wasn’t in a rush… But really enjoyed the first night of creating!

Of course you know what happens next… I sit down to play and before I know it I have finished and completely forgotten to take any pictures. So the whole layout was finished in two nights… probably about 4 hours in total.

So pleased with the final piece. And there is so much dimension.

I added more stamping, stickles and liquid pearls, the quote stamp and changed the composition for the tags. I added more stamped flowers for the tags and some grass turned into leaves. Oh and added some splattered paint too.

I love how easily this flew together and how it all turned out. Amazing to think it started as a cereal packet!

Hope that Linda loves it as much as me.. If she doesn’t I may well have to steal it back! Ha ha ha!

PATWITS circle journal… Julie’s journal

So this is my first spread for another’s journal in quite some time.

Forgot how nerve wracking it is to create in a book that isn’t your own, especially when the talent expressed on the page before is so awe inspiring.

I knew however to stare at the white page was a bad idea and it was better to get some colour down quickly just to take the fear away.

So here are my basic process pics… Nothing fancy and you can tell I got carried away right at the end as the photos stop!

So yes this is the point the mojo started working properly and I started to like what I had created.  Ok I know the girl is far from brilliant but she is pretty much as good as I get … Why on earth I thought a face was a good idea I have no idea! But I just went ahead and created and had fun and that was the idea!

Yes I threw pretty much everything I could think of into it.

And now the final page…

Happy with that! Hope Julie likes it too!

Scrap box challenge

Does everyone have a problem using up scraps of paper, or throwing them away, or is it just me? My scrap box gets out of control quite quickly, so a few weeks ago I started to clear it out and use some of the bits that had accumulated and were too small to save, but needed using and not just recycling.

Here is batch number two of said cards!

IMG_7174.JPG
Bright and busy DSP lent itself to a simple card with the addition of a sentiment, a scrap of ribbon and the two cute butterflies!

IMG_7172.JPG
Some more chevron ribbon, a punched sentiment, and a lovely stamped and water coloured flower from the classy Everything Eleanor stamp set. Perfect.

IMG_7171.JPG
Another classy card. This time Four Frames to provide the sentiment frame, and a little bit of decoupage to finish off. Once again chevron ribbon is fab!

IMG_7169.JPG
Back to the modern look, some cocktails and some texture from the embossing folder. And a different ribbon this time… Some scrap red silky ribbon.

Finally something a bit different again…

IMG_7173.JPG
The Sunflower stamp, teamed with grungy papers and some print (First Edition) and the added splotches from Gorgeous Grunge. Fab!

Not bad for an hours play and using up scraps!

Colour my Monday! Chocolate Chip!

20130919-185213.jpg

Here we are again … It’s Monday so time to put some colour into your life!

Well this week I’m all NEUTRAL and this is a very edible colour!

20130919-185319.jpg

I ended up making a card for a commission actually this time, and mixed in a bit of Pumpkin Pie, More mustard & cherry cobbler .

20140706-212552-77152192.jpg

I used a couple of masks and some ink to make the background on the piece of First Edition DSP. I then chose the French Foliage stamp set and fussy cut out some leaves once I stamped them. I also added some of the splodges in the scrummy Chocolate chip. I then added in some That’s the Ticket and a Itty Bitty Banners sentiment. Also added a scrap of linen thread just to add some texture.

Then mounted this onto some papers from the scrap box, including the gold card, and mounted it all onto a cream card blank.

Next I turned to the envelope…

I masked off an area for the address and then used the stencils and inks again. Then took the mask away, and stamped the leaves and splodges before drawing some lines round the masked area.

Colour my Monday! Sahara Sand

20130919-192037.jpg

Happy Monday everyone!

Time to be all NEUTRAL and dream of beaches!

20130919-192306.jpg

As this is such a pale colour I decided to focus on the background for this colour rather than the feature stamp. So it was time to dig out the amazing Sanded background stamp which retired a couple of years ago!

I also spent time inking the pieces, but otherwise I used a combination of Crumb Cake & Chocolate Chip to create the simple but hopefully elegant sympathy card.

Colour my Monday! Crumb Cake

20130917-221321.jpg

Happy bank holiday Monday everyone! How’s the week begun for you?

This week… Like all weeks this year … Mine has begun with some colour play! And this week I decided to play with a NEUTRAL colour…

20130917-221437.jpg

It is, after all, my favourite of the NEUTRAL colours to use as a focal colour! Well I say that but I actually struggled with this and ended up teaming it with Chocolate Chip to provide some more definition. I think my issue this time was choosing to use First Edition dsp to stamp onto rather than plain cardstock. But hey I love the final piece!

20140115-002342.jpg

I used a piece of the Parkers Patterns dsp with gold hammer cardstock from the scraps and the afore mentioned First Edition dsp, matted with some Chocolate Chip cardstock. I then stamped the images from Simply Sketched hostess stamp set, and then water coloured them with the aqua painter. I had to add some chocolate Chip ink too to the bird just to make him pop a bit more. I then did some distressing and adding the crumb cake ink with a sponge to finish off all the pieces before layering up.

Hope you like this as much as I do!

Happy crafting!

Everything Eleanor, First Edition, Gorgeous Grunge, Tea for Two, Thursday treasures

Thursday treasures! Prompt!

This weeks Thursday Treasures is a prompt!!!

20130623-160054.jpg

So how you interpret it is upto you … Just think of “forever” and scrap what that might mean to you!

When I think of forever I immediately plumped for wedding photos as my hubby is my forever love! But when leafing through them, I spotted this picture of my princess entertaining us when we were trying to pose for pictures at our party… And decided that the title of the page would have to be Forever in our hearts.

20140109-114556.jpg

I used a piece of Crumb cake cardstock, and then punched circles out of the First Edition & Tea for Two designer series paper as I thought they would work well together. I then made a circle from them and stuck them together. Next I used a little Baked Brown Sugar ink and a sponge to just meld them together a bit. Before I then added this to the page, I used the Everything Eleanor swirl stamped in a circle to the base cardstock.

Then I put down the circle of circles. Then I added some of the spots from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in both Crisp Canteloupe & Baked Brown Sugar. Then on pieces of Very vanilla I stamped the flowers from the Everything Eleanor stamp set in Baked Brown Sugar and then coloured it using the Aqua Painter (my new best friend) and the two ink colours.

I then stamped the panel for the title in the same colours.

I layered everything up and added glossy accents to the pollen parts for the flowers and then some liquid pearls added randomly. I added the journaling onto cream card and puts some blots on using the Gorgeous Grunge stamps.

Finally I finished with lots of stickers to create the title and the little words around the circle.

Loved reliving the memories of this day … Really need to do more of our wedding photos as never scrapped them before! Need to get an album just for them I think!

Have a friend popping over for a chat in a bit so best make myself presentable!

Happy crafting!
