Brushos, Canvas and Mixed Media art, Embossing Folders, Masks/Stencils, Polka Dot Parade, Timeless Textures, Washi tape

Make your own sunshine

I have another sample made for the Art journalling session theme of weather and or seasons.

I chose to work on a page in my Dylusions journal and it was one that had some ink wiped off onto it from other projects.  Looking at this I decided I wanted a watery look to the page.  I did however have some bits of scrap paper on the desk so I decided to get these onto the page first.

I tore them up and placed them fairly randomly around the page. Then gave it a coat of gesso to tone it down and give it some tooth.

Next to add the watery colour… I couldn’t resist getting the Brushos out.

Turquoise and yellow brushos applied quite generously and with plenty of bursts of water.

Then added some aquamarine too in a few places to give a different tone of colours.

After ten minutes it was drying nicely.

And after a few hours it looked fabulous.

Next it was time for some more texture.

I coloured some texture paste with some yellow brusho to make it a light yellow colour. I used a stencil from Balzer designs and stencilled some of the circles.

Then I took a Paperartsy stencil and added some gesso through that to create some white elements.

Once the texture paste and gesso were dry I added some ink to a Tim Holtz embossing folder which is like sun beams and then spritzed it and used it like a stamp so the beams come from the centre of the page.

This looks better once dry than it does here. Then I added some stamping using the Timeless Textures stamps to add some more pattern and texture.

I then chose my title based on something pinned on Pinterest for the group.  I used lots of different alphas to create the title and them used a white pen to finish it off.  I also added some bits of washi tape to add more colour and texture to the page.

The last addition was a bit of green spray ink I had in a little Tim Holtz spray bottle. Think it might have been aquatint but not sure… anyway I gave a few spritzes and jobs a good’un!!!

This is the finished page.  How lovely and fresh.

Hope that you like the finished page.  I am pleased with it.

Happy crafting!

Brushos, Decorative Label, Four Frames, Paperartsy Hot Picks, Polka Dot Parade, Ribbons

Beautiful brushos

One more gorgeous brusho card sample.  This time Paperartsy Hot Picks stamped sorted in Versamark and embossed with white detail powder. Then added the Brusho and plenty of water to give it more of a watercolour finish. I edged the panel using navy ink.

Then I added some DSP and card stock and ribbon and card candi to embellish.

I then used the same stamp and the navy ink to create the image on the envelope.

Next I decided it needed a sentiment so used the Four frames to create the topper.

Love how this came out.

Entering this into the flowers challenge at Paperartsy.  Nice easy challenge to join in with and have a few more I will blog about in the next couple of days to join in!  Loved the samples Leandra showed on the video this week.  Made me NEED more stamps!

Happy crafting!

Butterfly, Papillion Potpourri, Polka Dot Parade

Colour my Monday! Old Olive!

Happy Monday! Happy beginning of the week!

Time to add another colour into the challenge… And it is my second oldest colour from my SU collection! This time a BRIGHT colour!

I have used Old Olive a lot with Cherry Cobbler in the past so I thought I would ring the changes this week and use Primrose Petals for contrast instead!

Also I was a bit fed up of doing cards so instead I decided to share a scrap layout I did with you this week instead … The colour is predominantly Old Olive, with it being the base colour for the cardstock, and that of the fab Polka dot Parade dsp too. I then chose to stamp butterflies in the same colour, and the contrast colour of the Primrose petals.

One thing I did do with this page was I used the Rotary trimmer add on to cut the white panel in the middle’ish’ of the page with the scalloped edge to make a connection with the dots. Love this page! Especially the gorgeous Papillion Pot Pourri embellishments! Also love the bobble trim I added … Such fun!

Hope you don’t mind the change from card making to another scrap page… Just wanted to change it up a little!

Happy crafting!

Bitty Banners, Polka Dot Parade, Simply Stars, Small banner, That's the Ticket, Ticket punch

Moments and memories catch up … May very late!

Oops! I never got to do Moments and Memories in May so thought it would be a good idea to catch up on it now!

This is the sketch that I’ve been playing with this year with the intention of doing one a month… So this might be five weeks late but getting there! Haha!

This is how I laid it out before leaving it a little while to decide if I am happy with it and think about any additional bits I might want to add!

As you can see I have tilted the bottom layer and spent time matting and layering the feature photo. The Mickey paper I found in a sale… Perfect for a little touch of magic for the Disney photos!!! I teamed it with a bit of Polka Dot Parade in Pumpkin Pie and then the Basic Grey & Whisper White cardstock.

I thought that star was a good title for the page and also that both the That’s the Ticket and the Simply Stars stamped elements made good embellishments. I also stamped and punched a few little banners for underneath the Mickey Mouse label too.

After a few hours away from the craft table it was time to put this one together but felt it needed grounding a little so I inked everything up! And then stuck it down… I managed to create a pocket behind the photo to stick some little journaling tags in, but otherwise kept it similar to the original layout.

The finishing touches was of course a bit of bling!

So that is May up to date… Just need to get June’s page done now!

Happy crafting!

Polka Dot Parade, Thursday treasures

Thursday Treasures! Colour scheme

I am going to guess that this weeks colour scheme is not going to suit everyone … But sometimes we need to be pushed to our extremes …

Obviously it can be perfectly adapted to do autumn layouts so for me I instantly went to look for our Disney pictures from last year.

I chose this picture of the hubby and princess striking a pose in front of the fabulous Thunder Mountain!

I decided to team the orange with yellow and grabbed the Polka Dot Parade dsp as the main pattern focus for the page. I kept the layout quite simple, using this as the starting point from a layout I spotted on Pinterest. The extra elements are from the Simple Stories Say Cheese kit I have used on a lot of my Disney layouts. And I also added in a little touch of Gumball Green as a contrast colour too!

More Disney scrapping!

On Wednesday I set to and did quite a lot of Disney scrapping! I really really enjoyed it. I had wanted to start this when I got back from our holiday but with the commissioned crafting and the big blip with my mental health it just didn’t happen. The closest I had got was to putting some papers with pictures in the page protectors and that was it. Well at the weekend at Helen’s crop it was the stuff I took with me and it has got me started!

So on Wednesday I shared my page from when we met Mickey Mouse… So now it is the run of when we met Minnie!

Now this layout is almost completely lifted from someone else’s! Yes I scoured Pinterest for layouts and when I saw this one I had to use it for mine too!

I used the fabulous Polka Dot Parade dsp and cut it into then starburst design. Added a doily and some stickers from the Simple Stories Say Cheese kit to embellish and popped the journalling onto a tag behind the picture. I also found Minnie’s autograph and popped this behind the picture too!

Hope this page brings as much joy to you to look at as it did me creating it!

What great memories!
