Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas dear blog readers… hope you have a lovely day, however you choose to enjoy it. Clearly we all have had very different years all year and Christmas will no doubt be a different experience too. However staying safe is the most important thing and we will get to party and spend time with our loved ones another time as long as we stay safe!

OK… onto the crafting… today I have the cards I made for the child and the hubby to share with you. As usual they were the last cards I’ve made… always left until the last minute!

The Princess got a pretty wreath card with peach and green colours and lots of white.

Hopefully you can see plenty of sparkle on the words too and a bit of soft wool for the bow.

The hubby also had word dies feature, but I went for a wintery scene instead…

I used lots of ink blending and splatter for the background and lots and lots of sparkle on the trees too.

Entering this card into the Stampin Up only challenge for Winter cards.

Really pleased with both cards and they incorporated my new obsession of die cutting which I have really taken to this past few months.

DT: CHNC: use the word Christmas

Almost at the big day… So time to get those last minute cards made.

Today I have my design team contribution for you for CHNC. Hazel’s challenge for this week was to use the word Christmas… not a challenge given its a Christmas card! Lol!

I used some making cards magazine patterned paper and used Magenta Madness to add a base and create strips on either side of the sentiment panel.

The sentiment panel I used a Claritystamps stamp and Versafine to get a good dark impression on the Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Then I decided to go funky and use my Tim Holtz moose die. I cut him from black twice and then added the extra elements using the leftover bits of magenta madness and soft sea foam.

I finished off with the little merry stamped image embossed onto black cardstock.

Really fun card and not too challenging to put together.

DT: CHNC: use the word Merry

I think word dies have become my thing this past 6 months and so when I saw the challenge for CHNC was to use the word Merry I grabbed the sizzix Tim Holtz dies and die cut the word Merry. But then I went to town using patterned paper and paper piecing to create the background for the card.

I chose papers from an old Making Cards magazine set and embossed the image onto three of them. I then layered up the images using the turquoise and blue as the main colours for the image, leaving the red to the background. Sort of a funky reverse type colour scheme.

I then layered up the panel with the two other colours of paper. I added the ribbon to add some different texture and then added the die cut on top.

I finished off the card with the Peace and Joy stamped image embossed onto the red cardstock with the panel of blue to add a frame.

Super happy with how this came out… a bit of a labour of love to cut out the little pieces but at least the shapes were easy to work with.

Painty Christmas cards

I promised yesterday to take some better pics of the cards I made yesterday for the arty play session… and here they are!Be warned there are a lot!And the ones I made as samples…Love these! Painty Christmas cards with friends

Tonight I had lots of fun creating painty layers for Christmas cards with my friends. I made the background a few days ago but finished these sample cards just before my friends arrived… and then I got to make more tonight.

I haven’t got the best of pics for the finished articles tonight so will take those tomorrow and post again then!

So let’s start with how I made them.

First I made a background… layers of paint brayered and scraped on, then stencilling and stamping and doodling and more stencilling.

Next I cut that into panels… this 12 x 12 can make 9 backgrounds but I chose not to do that many… I instead have 2 ATCs and 7 backgrounds.

Next I painted panels onto white cardstock and then heat embossed the images using white embossing powder.

Then I chose how to layer up the card, matching images I fussy cut to the panels…

And that is where I got to before tonight.

Well then I added some die cut frames and panels and sentiments to finish them off before adhering them to white card blanks…

I also added sequins… which was the inspiration for the colour scheme originally.

Sorry that I don’t have a close up yet… but will do that tomorrow morning and upload the photos then.

Also I have the panel and cards i made tonight… then same colour scheme and stamp set…

The only difference is rather than the pink cardstock for the die cut frames I used pearlescent cardstock instead… so lovely.

Some of the ones I made tonight need sentiments to finish… but pleased with them all! I’ve got three not quite finished and on card blanks to go too!

Calendar – August 2019

For Christmas I gave my parents and my auntie a calendar I had made with a postcard sized piece of art on each month… so today I am sharing their August artwork.

I decided that I wanted to use the Tim Holtz wildflower dies so built this around that idea.

I created a background using Paperartsy fresco finish paints and stencils and stamps. Then I added the wildflowers stamps using dye based inks and heat embossed them with clear powder.

This gave a subtle layered effect to the background.

Next I did cut some of the flowers and then added paint to them in the same colours using a sponge to create a mottled effect.

I adhered them and then added shading using Big Brush Pitt pens.

I then heat embossed the sentiment and edged the panel with versamark and added more embossing powder to that too.

Love these … so many details and layers.

DT: Back to Basics and Beyond challenge: Use a spray

Hi!

Today’s blog is a design team contribution that I made at the very last minute and still have stained hands as a result.

The challenge at Back to Basics and Beyond is to Use a Spray and I’ve used my good but very messy Dylusions sprays!

So I started with a piece of card and a stencil and some cool colours of inks…

And I have no control using Dylusions so this saturated the card, bled under the stencil, and made the desk very messy!

But still a cool effect once dry. I did also try a little imprint of the stencil using the excess ink which was fun.

Next I used the white Dylusions ink and a different stencil.

This again puddles ink a little but some areas the circles were more defined.

I then added more yellow ink using a circle aperture to make it only in the centre.

I dried the cardstock and trimmed it down to become a card topper and then started stamping and doodling to create this card.

I used stanps from Alpaca Pals and a Tim Holtz die to finish off.

Love how this looks.

The variance in colour in the background and the subtle patterns are really cool.
