DT: Incy wincy: Colour challenge

I am late … on a lot of things … especially some design team projects but think I may actually catch up today!

Here is the card I made for the Incy Wincy blog using a ppinky doll digital stamp.  I do love these whimsical girls. And their slightly melancholic expressions just about suit my mood at the moment. But crafting is cheering me up!

The challenge was to use the following colour scheme… or at least 3 colours of it.

Well I am pretty confident I managed to capture those colours albeit in a slightly more vintage way.

So pop over to the blog and see how the rest of the team uses those colours.

Happy crafting!

One sheet wonder … errrm three sheets

Part of the Use them or Lose them challenge of the year is to use some of the paper I have stashed. I have been trying to use stuff from the scraps box where possible to try and work through that but there is also the mountain of uncut 12 x 12 sheets of dsp so I decided to do a one sheet wonder type project… although ended up using three sheets of DSP so I could get some variety.

I didn’t follow a osw cutting guide, instead headed over to Mojo Monday and followed a load of sketches from November and October 2015 to design the cards and cut everything up.  I added two sheets of Primrose Petals cardstock, one crumb cake and one wild wasabi plus a few bits and pieces of scrap cardstock that were hanging around the desk.

Next I started assembling, embossing, die cutting and stamping… and ended up with 15 cards for the box at work!

Use them or lose them stamp challenge #1

So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!  Time to change that! Given I’ve counted over 52 stamp sets that are SU sets I guess that should keep me going throughout the year.

I thought to make life easy in doing the challenge… I would just work my way through the stamps as I come across them, rather than sticking to an order and then not being inspired.  But any that don’t get used in the year will have to be placed in the unloved pile and get sold/ given away at the end of the year!

So first stamp set for the challenge is Butterfly Basics.  This was a card that was inspired by a 10 in 20 youtube video I saw… but I changed it up a bit as I wanted to also use the embossing folders and dies to add texture and a bit of grunge to the pretty images.

I grabbed six pieces of white card stock and stamped the fern in old olive three times without reining to get the different tones of the same colour.  Then I used Crisp Canteloupe for the flowers, again stamping 1st and 2nd generation ink.  Next I stamped 1 butterfly using Calypso Coral direct onto the cardstock, and then again twice onto different white cardstock for punching them out. I also edged each white cardstock topper with Promarkers…. I used oatmeal and sandstone.

Next I stamped the sentiment in Black Versafine over the top of the stamped images.  To this I then added the little punched butterflies and some dots of liquid pearl.

I then took pieces of Old Olive cardstock and Crumb cake cardstock to make mats.  The bigger one I embossed using different embossing folders for each one, and the second I die cut parts using some new Tim Holt dies I got.

I love how they all look different but are obviously part of the set.  I also made an effort on the envelopes…

So one stamp set down… think this is for keeps as the cards are so pretty!

Might even have a see what else I can use this set to do before the end of the week.
