Alpaca Pals, Claritystamps, For My Family, Kim Dellow, Pinewood planks, Promarkers, Letraset

Happy birthday hubby!

Yesterday we celebrated my husband’s birthday. Given the lockdown no meals out, or partying with friends. Instead we played games, ate fish and chips for tea and watched what he wanted on the TV.

I ended up making two cards … one from me, and one from the teenager … here they are …

I decided I wanted to use the Out of this world stamps from Alpaca Pals and used loads of other alpaca pals stamps to make up the background.

I embossed and masked the little alien. Then went to town inking and stamping the background. I chose (oddly as I’ve just moved them to a further from reach shelf as I hadn’t been using them!) to use Distress inks. I really enjoyed blending the colours together to create a fun background. I splattered some water on to lift some colour too… always fun!

I coloured the little alien with promarkers and then added some splashes of shimmer watercolour.

I decided to cut the panel apart a little as when I went to add the sentiment strips it didn’t feel balanced with the alien in the middle … really love how this looked as soon as I separated the panels.

The sentiment I took some random sentiments and some alpha stamps for the 👽 one stamped them out separately using the colours of the card and then added them down the right hand side.

Inside the card I took more Alpaca Stamps to decorate the inside…

Perfect for my husband (who we decided years ago for many reasons is actually an alien! 👽👽👽

OK from the teenager a different card entirely…

I went autumnal and also included a nod to our other family member (Lucky Chuck Johnson is a hedgehog who has been in residence at the raised bed in our garden since July!)

I used a kraft card blank and then created layers of texture and different inking effects using the Fired Brick, Spiced Marmalade and Vintage Photo distress inks. I did some embossing using the Pinewood planks folder. I blended inks with some masked strips. I splattered. I had great fun!

I used the same inks to watercolour the hog images (Paperartsy – Kim Dellow) which I had embossed.

The sentiment I stamped using the Claritystamps letterbox set perfect for making a personalised card.

I finished off with some doodled lines and a little tag I embossed with a gold heart.

And why did I end up having to make this? Well I bought a card from our local supermarket for her to give … but it turns out that was the one she had given him previously! Who knew? Well another reason that handmade is best… no two cards are the same! So it might have been a last minute make on her behalf (she had left it too late to make one herself!).

So happy birthday dear hubby… not the birthday we had hoped for, but still lovely to spend the day together having fun!

Happy crafting!

One sheet wonder… vintage Peace and Joy

Hello!

Another one sheet wonder to share with you, this time using am old piece of patterned paper I was gifted which has a vintage feel so I teamed it with browns and creams and used the fabulous Peace and Joy stamps and dies to decorate.

Used a similar one sheet wonder as the one I shared last month using the Merry Moose stamp set but changed up the first card as I made an error when cutting and also added the slim panel for 5 into card 3 as I made an error putting them together thinking there should have been 4 strips not 3!

I mounted each of the panels onto the Early Espresso coloured coredinations card (I’ve found a stash of this in one of the boxes in my craft room so was happy to use it again). Then created panels using cream laid paper and very vanilla cardstock.

Once again I went to town with embossing and added some ribbons from the stash on most of the cards.

The focal images of the Peace and Joy set I did in a few different ways. Either I stamped them in Mossy Meadow or Soft Suede and then added a layer of die cutting. With the very narrow dies I generally layered them so they were two or three tall. And the glimmer paper came out again just for a few bits. And yes there is glitter everywhere as a result. (I will never buy it again… so must use up my stash and get rid of it!)

So here are the close ups…

Love how they all came out and think that the Peace and Joy bundle is one of my favourite ever sets for versatility. It just works so well for creating features as well as little elements such as the holly leaves which create lovely embellishments.

Creating all these cards probably only took about 3 hours if that! You can get in a nice rhythm and almost do it as a conveyor crafting session … paper and card cutting, then stamping, then die cutting and fussy cutting, then sorting layouts and choosing ribbons, then embossing, then adhering. Or at least that’s the way I did it. So ideal if you are a last minute Christmas card maker and haven’t started yet.

I can really recommend the Peace and Joy bundle. And at £42.50 for the bundle it’s not a bad price considering the versatility.

Merry Moose one sheet wonder

I’m back with another one sheet wonder, but this time I stuck to one stamp set to add the focal feature, whilst going mad with lots of die cuts!

I chose a piece of 12 x 12 I had in the stash … it had actually been folded and gifted to me so it required a bit of flattening out! It’s similar to one of the dsp packs in this year’s mini catalogue but it isn’t actually that!

I created a template to create some cards that I knew wanted to work on square cards rather than the usual rectangle cards.

There isn’t a measurement this but if you can see the little dots each square is half an inch… so number 3 is a 3×3 inch square!

Anyways… there are the 15 cards I made!

I mat and layered the panels with either some brown or cream card stock. I also used some cream laid paper for the background panels, most of which were 5×5 squares.

Some of the brown cardstock is coredinations so I also dug out the sanding block to give it some different textures.

The Merry Moose stamp set came out and I went for some of the detailed image, and some of the block image.

For the block image I went for some as they were using the Soft Suede, and some with kiss stamping using the Dictionary stamp to give the moose image some texture.

The detailed image I did some colouring with pencils… just four of them, but enough to last a few minutes of relaxing!

The final ones I used the coredinations cardstock to punch the image and then used my sanding block to distress it.

I created the sentiments from the same Merry Moose set. I just used the sentiments in the set and Early Espresso set to create panels and banners.

Next I dived into the die stash and cut lots of foliage and decorative elements and circles from cream, satin gold and gold glitter card.

Then it was time to stick them all together and get some embossing done too with old embossing folders and the lovely Woodland and Pinewood Planks.

I embellished the cards using either the rose gold metal discs or the pearls.

At the end of finishing off all of these I headed off for a shower to “deglitter” myself. I really don’t like glitter but these cards needed the special touch of a bit of shine! So I persisted and added it in!

So happy with these 15 cards and love the Merry Moose so much … such a versatile bundle and good price at £29.50 for the 17 stamps and moose punch! … And if this project makes you think you need this in your life just pop me an email catiecuddles@yahoo.co.uk

Beautiful You, Birch, Forever Fern, Forever Flourishing, One Sheet Wonder OSW, Pinewood planks, Venetian Romance

OSW pt2: Forever Fern

Here is part 2 for the one sheet wonder… using the Forever Fern stamp and Forever Flourishing dies.

I love how the brand new stamps work so perfectly with this old dsp … and how the Calypso Coral works as the accent colour on those strange bobbly stems.

I stamped the background with the Birch background stamp set.

I added the sentiment from the retired Beautiful You stamp set.

I love how distressing the papers and mats add texture.

I also added the embossing on the back panel for this using a snow folder but back to front so it creates a deboss design… I think it looks like distressed concrete surface on this.

Love how all of these look… I just adore these stamps and dies! Such fabulous images!

Arrange a Wreath, Beautiful You, Birch, Birds and Branches, Forever Fern, Forever Flourishing, One Sheet Wonder OSW, Pinewood planks, Venetian Romance

One sheet wonder: Venetian Romance dsp

So after the mammoth OSW I did last month, I decided to dig through the dsp to do another one. I chose an old (2014!) piece of dsp from the stash. This was a set called Venetian Romance and I love it.

I created 12 cards in total and loved pairing this old dsp with my new stamps!

I also distressed the dsp and the kraft cardstock I was using as a mat. This left a large amount of paper fluff everywhere but love the effect it created.

So I’ll share the first four tonight and then rest tomorrow.

So Birds and Branches is the stamp set for the focal images… such a beautiful stamp set.

This first one I added the panel of the craft card and embossed with the Pinewood panel 3d set. I also added the linen thread and the pearl as embellishment.

This card I added some stamping using the Birch background stamp. I also found some ribbon in the stash that seemed to work with the Calypso Coral colour in the dsp.

The Best Wishes sentiment I chose are from the Arrange a Wreath stamp set.

For this one I found a paperclip that was the perfect match too… added that as a different embellishment.

Love the way the four cards finished up… the stamps breathe new life into the old paper. So pleased I got to use it… after 6 years of it sitting in a box!

And for those interested I made up my template as I went along but these are the measurements… (I’ve drawn this out after the fact!) And yes I did and up with a spare 1″ strip but that’s because it was damaged on my original piece of paper!

Birds and More, For My Family, Happy wishes, Magnolia Blooms, Pinewood planks, Promarkers, Letraset

Happy birthday Mum

It was my mum’s birthday on Saturday… we were meant to be going out to celebrate but the new quarantine for those coming from Spain has meant they are now self isolating for a fortnight… unluckily they arrived back in the UK just 24 hours too late to avoid it!

Anyways I did drop off this card for her and we will celebrate a little belatedly in a couple of weeks.

This card started as a colouring in exercise … a bit of mindfulness …

I stamped the Magnolia Blooms main image several times using different inks onto the whisper white cardstock…

Then using my promarkers I coloured a few in…

I decided the bottom colour scheme would be perfect for a card for Mum… so created a full 5×5 square of the images and coloured them all in.

I chose some coloured cardstock from the stash and some vellum and rose gold foiled cardstock to create some layers. I embossed the bottom layer and the top square using the Pinewood planks folder.

I then die cut the foliage from the Birds and More dies from the foiled card and added a die cut panel from the Everything is Rosy suite. I also added some of the rose gold mirrored dots.

Inside the card I used the Happy Wishes stamp for the greeting.

I also created a panel on the envelope too.

Love how this came together. I know that this particular stamp set isn’t available to buy anymore but there is a gorgeous Magnolia set in the catalogue that would work, or any floral stamps to create something similar.

Magnolia Blooms, Pinewood planks, Promarkers, Letraset

Magnolia Blooms thank you notes

So these little thank you cards started life as an exercise in mindfulness. My anxiety was raised so decided to do some colouring in. Stamped out the Magnolia Blooms image in a variety of inks and set to with my promarkers for these ones.

Including some “no line” colouring attempts… (I used so saffron for the ink for these!)

I then used scraps from the desk from other projects and embossing to make up these little 4×4 notelets.

Each of them I also added something to the envelope to finish off, either a light brushing of the ink, or a strip of cardstock or another stamped image…

A lovely project and nice to bring some calm to my racing mind.

Happy retirement Karen

Yesterday we said good luck to one of our friends and colleague Karen who started retirement today! Gosh we will miss her so much, and we are jealous and happy for her all in one!

I made the card for her.

I chose to use the Wreath Builder dies and some pretty bright colour cardstock to create the card. I love how pretty all the die cuts work together.

I had to choose sentiments from the stash as I didn’t have retirement stamps in my SU stash.

Due to the whole Working From Home situation we had to arrange the whole collection etc as an online thing so I created the insert from all the messages I was emailed to include.

Love the card I made and hope Karen liked it too.
