Yes my friend really has gone and become Mrs Smith!
Today my friend got married. Unfortunately the trip to Devon (where she upped and moved to just over a year ago) for one night was a little too much for me to undertake so I didn’t make it to see her in person, so instead made a card on behalf of myself, and the other two friends in the team who will be raising a glass to her from afar!
Just like yesterday’s I tried to do a step by step approach!
The card itself is inspired by so many I have seen before … I went for white on white, but then decided it needed some champagne throwing in!
I started with the Petite Petals stamp set and heat embossed lots of flowers using both the clear and champagne coloured embossing powders. Then punched them out. Next I dry embossed some scraps of the cardstock using a few different embossing folders and punched them out. Then I drew a circle (I used the bottom of my paintbrush jar to make sure it was a circle, and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from a Papermania set and then stuck the flowers down layering them up as I went.
Next I took some more white card and punched out the birds and then embossed them using the Beautiful Brocade folder. Then added them to the bottom of the circle along with the leaves which I didn’t emboss. I also used dimensionals whilst doing this to ensure I had some depth to the artwork.
I then realised I needed to mount it as it didn’t look right without an edge of some kind, but I don’t have suitably coloured ink or cardstock. So I made a mount using the same embossing powder and the Hardwood background stamp. You will see here I didn’t emboss it entirely, only the edges as that is all that would be on show.
Final touch was to add a champagne coloured ribbon in a bow and mount it onto the card blank.
So I hope that Mr and Mrs Smith have had a wonderful day … Wishing them all the best for their married life together! Congratulations Caroline and Dave!
Finally got round to finishing this months Moments & Memories scrap!
. And it works for Thursday Treasures too… Just wait and see!
I actually started this last month at Helen’s excellent class, but have only just got round to finishing. When I looked at what Helen had designed for us, it looked like my M&M sketch enough for me to use it for this challenge!
So I used the lovely Flowerpot DSP and plenty of die cuts from Helen’s collection. There is also some embossing folders and some little candy dots thrown in, with some doodling and a bit of hidden journalling tucked behind the picture. I also added some stickers from the stash too!
Love how this finished up… A bright and joyful page, just like my sweet great niece Isabel.
Now how does this fit into Thursday Treasures? Well look at the theme for this week…
I would say that I definitely managed to kill a few birds with this stone! Ha ha ha!
Happy Monday World! Well the part of the world that read my blog anyways!
Colour time! I am really enjoying this weekly challenge to focus on colour! It is time for a REGAL colour this week…
Now this is not a colour I have used much… Mainly as I don’t own the actual ink colour, but also as rustic colours are just not really my thing! But, a couple of months ago, Helen used this colour in a class I had the kit for, but had never got round to doing the class as per her instructions … Partly as at the time I didn’t have the stamps for the specific class! Anyways, in the kit for one card was some Cajun Craze cardstock, so I grabbed that and set to work on creating something for this challenge instead.
Helen had also included a bit of the gold foil cardstock, so I embossed this first with the Square Lattice folder and then sanded it back to show some white through.
Next I inked the cardstock using the Chocolate Chip ink and a sponge to give it a nice even edge of ink. Then I took the small pieces of Very Vanilla and inked them too in Crumb cake and added some distressing with the Gorgeous Grunge and Woodgrain stamps. Then I stamped some of the cute Petite Petals flowers in a mixture of Crumb Cake and Gold Encore pigment ink. To these I added the candy dots in the Cajun Craze. Next up the sentiment was stamped in Chocolate Chip and inked and grunge with the dots stamp from Gorgeous Grunge. I used the Decorative label punch to create the little label for this.
Finally a bit of trim in Baked Brown Sugar to finish off!
Love this finished card. It is so different from the style I would normally choose, and this is because the colour is out of my comfort zone, but this is what the challenge is about I suppose… To break me out of doing the same things over and over!
