DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

Happy advent all!

As its the first of the month it is time for a Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge blog design team contribution… and once again I shied away from a OSW and instead decided to play with old dsp and a JOFY stamp to make 4 slimline cards.

They are all individually made and all approx 3×6.5 inches in size so at some point I will also need to make bespoke envelopes but hey ho… aren’t they cute?

I stamped and coloured all the images first and then started pulling out papers that worked with the colours I had used. They were all retired dsps that were in my stack of 6×6 papers.

I also added a double embossed panel on each of them. What’s double embossing, well you add versamark to the inside of the embossing folder, then run it through to create the texture, then add embossing powder and heat. I used a pearl white powder and it have a gorgeous sheen and really stepped up some plain white cardstock.

I added a sentiment to three of them and some wink of Stella to the bow on a couple of them too.

Love how these came out…. mainly using scraps of cardstock and some old dsp!

Of course it helps that the stamped image is pretty fun too!

Happy crafting!

Christmas Challenge #2

Week 2 = stocking

I decided to just go for it with the Tidings and Trimmings bundle and create some cards using the matching dsp and the stamps and dies from the set.

I had lots of fun then delving in the gems box and the ribbons basket to find some bits and pieces to embellish and add texture.

I kept to a simple colour scheme… Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent, Cherry Cobbler and Sahara Sand. I also added gold embossing and did die cut some of the sentiments using the Stitched framelits and the Seasonal Frames too.

I stamped the two different stocking stamps in lots of different colour ways and did a bit of colouring in on some too.

And then had fun chopping papers up and matting and layering. I used 3 sheets of the 6×6 in total and made 8 5×5 cards. I also embossed a couple of the card blanks using my new favourite embossing folder: timeworn type.

Just love these … those stockings are so cute and the little bow and the foliage in the set help finish it off perfectly.

Plus love the sentiments and the ones you can create into strips are PERFECT !

So this was my stocking selection for you. A quick reminder that you do not need to make multiple cards to join in … I just love doing this when making Christmas cards as although they are all different they create little sets and I often end up gifting these to my parents and my aunties.

But please do join in … and if you do, use the tag #christmascard2021IFCchallenge so I can find your creations… or comment below!

Christmas challenge #1

Yes I know I already did a challenge back in July (which I didn’t quite finish) but I decided to set myself another one! This time for the next 12 weeks we have a weekly challenge and I would love for you to join me and play along. If you do join in … it will take you up to the end of November and 12 Christmas projects done before December starts!

So first up is foliage.

I used the fabulous Christmas Season stamps to create a full piece of A4 patterned paper. I did add the Very Versailles text stamp too because I couldn’t resist. I also added some splatters of the shimmer ink in both champagne and rose gold.

I then cut it up as a one sheet wonder. I chose to mount some on Polished Pink and some on Mossy Meadow. I then stamped and die cut some sentiments from the Christmas to remember set and the added elements of a pine cones and the fir tree pieces.

I then started putting the cards together.

Some I added ribbon or twine to… or both.

On some I also added the gold Holly leaf embellishments which are super cute!

I also grabbed embossing folders (Timeworn Type and Pinewood Planks) to add texture to a few of them.

Really happy with this set of cards.

So the challenge doesn’t require us to make more than one card … it just so happens that this first one I did make 7! But then I also had lots of fun making the patterned paper from those stamps.

If you do join in please comment below so I can see your cards… or add the hashtag on Instagram #christmascard2021IFCchallenge

First play… Christmas Season bundle and Christmas to Remember bundle

Had fun with new stash and made a card. I played with both of the stamp and die bundles from the Painted Christmas suite… the Christmas Season stamps and Seasonal frames dies and the Christmas to remember sentiment stamps and the Christmas Pinecone dies. All four of these items (2 bundles) work in tandem with each other and are … fabulous!

I actually videoed this playtime… so check out the YouTube if you want to see how it came together.

But if you are just after the final card…

I mean… how fabulous is this? And how easy? So easy!

Love love love these bundles. I do think this years Christmas selection by SU is their best for a few years.

Can see me making far too many Christmas cards for the stash this year using all of these fabulous products. But that’s fine… they will all get used eventually!

Happy crafting!

Happy birthday Sue

Today is my good friend’s birthday and it’s a special birthday this year so she got an all singing all dancing lots of effort kind of card made for her!

I used new stamps, dies and embossing folder plus old stash to make this and I am pretty chuffed with how it came out.

Starting point was I embossed some linen cardstock with my new embossing folder Timeworn Type which I am totally in love with. I then added ink I used distress ink as I wanted a fairly heavy coverage and these work best in my opinion.

I decided to place the panel (quite large piece of card to cover the left hand side of a 5×7 card blank.

Next I took a die cut from Artistic and then the sale-a-bration stamp set Delicate Dahlia and used that to create the main floral focal element.

I also grabbed some very old Cherry Cobbler ribbon.

Then I die cut some labels from the Seasonal Labels in coordinated scraps of cardstock.

Next up I went to the go to sentiment creating stamp set I am obsessed with … Biggest Wish.

Final finishing touches are a button from the stash, some Cherry Cobbler thread and some glittery gems.

Love how this looks and so so happy with that embossing folder, the die cut element, the floral stamp and of course my favourite sentiment stamps!

So all I have left to say is Happy Birthday to Sue… looking forward to celebrating with you in a couple of weeks time. 😀

Happy crafting!
