Gelatos, Faber Castell

Collage ATCs #211 & #212

I decided to make some ATCs out of random backgrounds and some collage materials cut from magazines.

This one was an advert for a version of Jane Eyre. I added it to a scratch paper background which had some tissue paper adhered to it too.

The next one features a yummy pic of antipasti… could just dig into that right now!

The background has lots of stamping and doodling.

And then the next one is a drink to accompany the antipasti!

A gelato background and then some doodling too!

These were fun to make and so different to the creations of the last few days.

Happy crafting!

Butterfly themed ATC swap (198, 199, 200!!!)

So today I have three ATCs to share with you that I made for a butterfly themed swap with UK stampers forum.

Two started life as the gelato background I did in class a couple of weeks ago.

I added stamping and doodling and of course the obligatory butterfly. The butterfly I used on all three was a stamp from Creative Stamping magazine.

I also used the Butterfly basics quote on this. You might just be able to see there is some texture paste on this and some little bits of foiling too.

The next one is from the same background. But this one I added some grey inking and plenty of stickles.  There are also a few splodges of distress oxides to add some contrast.

To continue on the bling theme I also used some sequins to embellish.

Next a different background entirely.  This was a background I made with Helen in her scrapbooking class and I ended up cutting it up for ATCs. It was using the ink smooshing method and sprays.  To this I added some stamping using the Creative magazine stamps and distress oxides.  I then heat embossed the Butterfly and used the oxides to paint the colour.  I also added sequins and the label sentiment.

So three ATCs using the same butterfly stamps but each different.

And with a great big fanfare that is 200 ATCs made so far this year! Whoop!

Happy crafting!

Post class round up – gelatos

Hi

I’ve realised I never got round to sharing what we did actually make at the gelatos session on Tuesday…  well we made a great big mess!

Yes this was the table post session… piles of stash, scraps and many many many baby wipes! Lol!

Ok so what did we actually make.

Well the samples I shared on Tuesday but on the night we made some different stuff but using the same techniques. None of us really finished out projects but most of us got close on at least one…

First our scrapbook pages…

Then our sunset cards…

Next our stencilled background cards (mine and Karen’s ended up as starts of ATCs)…

The dragonfly one just above was a a demonstration I did. Unfortunately we ran out of time for doing this one.

Once I have finished some of these off properly  (of the ones that are mine!) I will share more pics.

Happy crafting!

Just one gelato… well maybe a whole load of them? (184)

Tonight some of the usual gang are coming over to mine to play with gelatos. Here are the samples I made.

First an ombre blended background with a silhouette die cut and stamped sentiment.

Next a background with loads of stencilling and some lovely Lin Brown stamps.

And then I promised a scrap page… always a challenge to teach as it will depend on the photos they want to scrap as to what might be suitable.  With that in mind the papers are fairly generic from American Crafts 6×6 pad and I used modelling paste to add texture.  Then I used the packaging technique for adding the gelatos.

And finally an ATC  (of course) using resist in the background and then diecutting the ombre background for the hot air balloon.

So a bit of a mixed bag of projects but hopefully something for everyone!

Happy crafting!

Scrapping, Gelatos and YouTubeĀ

I did some scrapping last weekend.  For the first time unprompted and I had such fun. I even did it on camera! Yes another YouTube video for you!

The main plan was to use gelatos and some of the February Artful Days goodie box stash.. and just to play.

So happy with how this ended up. Definitely inspired by Missy Whidden YouTube videos and loving the mixed media style.  So many textures and colours.

Thanks for getting me back into scrapping Helen.

Happy crafting!

Gelatos art… Create Joy

Today I am off to scale the heights of the trees in delamere forest with the princess and her bestie… wish me luck. I also have another YouTube video to share with you that I made on Friday and for a change it doesn’t have anything to do with Distress Oxides.

Instead the medium of choice was gelatos!

I made a piece of art using some packaging as the base and then used gelatos and stash from the Artful Days goodie box from February.

Here it is framed on the bookcase… complete with the curling brush I’ve just noticed!

And pre framing an extreme closeup!

And here it is in the light but in its frame!

Hope you manage to pop to my YouTube video to see the process. I really enjoyed this challenge.

Happy crafting!

For ATC’S sake … 65, 66 and 67

There are three more ATC’S I’ve got to share with you today using the above pieces of scratch paper I cut using the Tim Holtz atc bigz die.

I started with some gelatos to add some colour and blended with water and my finger. I love how the distress stain stayed in patches and then some of the iridescent medium which also shone through the gelatos.

Next I used a baby wipe and took some of the colour away through a stencil. I love this technique and the subtle finish it provides.

Another stencil and then added ink through it. I also decided to rip one of the pieces a little to create a smaller topper.

I mounted that smaller piece onto a piece of patterned paper which has some gold inlaid. Then I added washi tape to two of them and some wax paper to the middle one.  The final one on the right I stamped the lady image to add the focal point.

Finishing touches time…

Some embellishments layered with cotton thread and some neon pink gems. Then some words chosen and then some inking round the edges.

Another quote and a bit of outlining and then a pink heart brad. Plenty of inking too. Love this mix of grunge and prettiness.

The final one is the one with the stamped lady.

I added twine and a charm and a couple of the chit chat words. And of course some inking round the edges.  Love the vintage feel to this one.

So there we have it … three more for the challenge total… 324 to go! ahem… that seems like rather a lot… ah well wouldn’t be a challenge if it wasn’t challenging!

Happy crafting!

A little framed canvasĀ

Well I have something a bit different to share tonight…. a canvas I made and framed… not an ATC in sight!

This is how I started.  A 3×3 canvas board which I gessoed and then added the time Holtz tissue paper to it. All the goodies I used (except gelatos) are from the Artful days goodie box from December.

To this I added gelatos in a mixture of lime and yellow.  I then used a stencil and baby wipe to remove some colour.

Then I went to town on embellishments from the Artful Days goodie box…

Once I had layered them up I adhered them and added the whole piece to some dark brown cardstock so I could frame it in the box frame I had to hand.

I also added a sentiment from the Tim Holtz stickers I had in the stash.

How lovely is this? And super simple to make. Loved playing with the goodies and creating this piece to go on the craft room wall.

Happy crafting!

Atc class with the inky fingered Cat gang (for ATC’S sake 13, 14, 15)

Tonight I have the crafty gang back at my house for mixed media fun. With everything happening last year we had to cancel last year by July so it’s been a long time since we’ve got together… I expect there will be a lot of chatting … perhaps more than crafting! Ha ha ha… I shall have to crack the whip!

The request for the class was to create atcs of the sort I made for the Artful Days goodie box a few months ago.  So I came up with the following three ideas.

This is a mix of distress ink, stickers, book print, embossing and iridescent medium through a stencil.

This is gelatos, tissue paper, trim, gilding wax and embellishments and finished off with some liquid pearls.

This is using paint as the medium and including stamping and different textured pieces of media. I love the metallic blue frame and the glittery gold combination inside the frame.

Wonder if the ones we make will be anywhere close to these samples? Or if we just spend the night chatting!

Either way… three more ATC’S for the challenge…

Happy crafting!
