DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge

Hi there! Thanks for popping along to my little corner of the Web. I’ve got another Happy Little Stampers design team contribution to share with you today. This was for the Anything Goes with Dies blog.

This card turned into a labour of love … lots of stamping, masking and colouring with just a bit of die cutting!

I made this for my cousins daughters birthday as the girl images reminded me of her.

I cut a piece of 6×6 white and stamped the Polaroid image from Concord and 9th all over it, and then masking I filled in some of the gaps. Next I took the girl images which were magazine stamps and stamped those as the photo images… again lots of masking to keep the images within the frames.

I then coloured them using both Stampin Blends and promarkers until the whole sheet was coloured in. I also edged the panel with black.

Next I stamped and die cut the camera image and then coloured that in. I also die cut some hearts and coloured them using the same colours so they would coordinate.

I decided to then put a few things together to make the sentiment. Firstly the smile die from Lawn Fawn which I stacked a few together to give it dimension and then some little alphas. Then Your from Happy Celebrations and Birthday from Biggest Wish.

I added some foam behind a few elements and behind the main die cut panel I added some ribbon.

I then went to town with wink of Stella on the hearts and the smile die cut.

Inside the card I added three individual Polaroid images I had cut out and coloured and some more of the hearts.

For the envelope I kept it simple and just added the stamped hearts in similar colours.

Love how this turned out.

Dylusions birthday

I decided to once again grab a Dylusions background … but this time it is the last one so there won’t be more of these bright and funky backgrounds to share unless I have a fun inky session! This time I went for a pretty and fun birthday card.

After trimming the green background down I added it to some yellow card to give it a frame and then using foam I added it to the card blank.

Next I die cut some foliage from some Cinnamon Cider and Petal Pink cardstock. Next I stamped and fussy cut a large floral image from an old Creative Stamping magazine set. I’ve not really used this set much and it is beautiful so may have to put it to good use again soon.

I coloured it quite loosely using my Stampin Blends in Petal Pink, Granny Apple Green, Just Jade and So Saffron.

Next I die cut the letters for Happy from the Cinnamon Cider and stacked them up three times to give more dimension. I then stamped the Birthday from Biggest Wish using More Mustard.

I added foam under the floral stamped image and also under the birthday part of the sentiment so this really has a lot of dimension.

I finished off with the gold flower embellishments from the stash.

It feels so good to have finally used up all those backgrounds made so long ago. So pleased I could find a use for them and could find a way to mix up my crafting a little.

DT: Creative Knockouts… KLM Designs… birthday wishes

Hello! Thanks for popping by to my bit of the Internet!

Today I have another design team contribution for Creative Knockouts challenge blog and our theme for this week is Birthday Wishes. We are sponsored this week by KLM Designs and I chose to use the lovely Woodland Garden Gnome image for my card.

I knew that she wanted to be dressed in soft greens and yellows and also surrounded by lots of foliage and so I set to with my colouring…

I coloured her in a mix of Stampin Blends and promarkers and then cut her out with a bit of a border of white.

Then I grabbed the Merriest Moments stamps, dies and the embossing folder and made a big cluster of pretty greens and yellows for the gnome to stand amongst.

There is plenty of dimension going on with foam between some layers and also that fabulous texture of the dry embossing. The embossed piece I added colour to the foliage using my stampin blends in a range of green colours (I also coloured the back of them as I knew that some might end up being seen on the reverse).

For the sentiment out came my favourite … Biggest Wish.

I stamped the birthday using the stamp platform to get an ombre look and the Happy I embossed in white over some cardstock I had coloured with the same stampin blends as some of the leaves in the background.

I decided to make a slightly different fold of card too by extending the back of the card with Soft Seam foam cardstock and having the cluster hang over the edge.

I corner rounded the edges too to soften the look. Inside I added one more flower and leaf die cut just to make it match… probably should have found a sentiment to stamp on the inside too but never thought of that till now!

I finished off the front with some pale yellow sequins from the stash.

Love how this little gnome worked well amongst the over the top amount of flowers and leaves. So cute! I also love using a Christmas and winter themed set for something very different.

Happy birthday Mum

Yesterday was my Mum’s birthday and I wanted to share the labour of love that was her birthday card with you.

I had the idea that I wanted to do a wreath design as the main part of the card so I started by stamping lots of leaves from different sets in all the greens. I kept to mainly lighter coloured greens rather than very dark ones after all it is August not winter and wanted it to be bright!

I decided, even though these could be die cut, to fussy cut instead…. after all that is more relaxing and cam be done sat on the sofa…

Then I put together some on a circle to decide if the different styles and types of leaves went OK together… and decided as there were so many types and styles it did…. oh I also coloured in the images from Splendid Thoughts as they were outline images so used stampin blends to colour them.

I decided I wanted more but this time the die cuts from Splendid Stems as something to break up the images…

I decided this was a good mix of the delicate die cuts in solid colour and the stamped or coloured images.

Next to decide how to finish the card and I had a couple of ideas I tried out. By this time I had stuck the leaves together onto a thin ring of scrap paper so that was complete but all other elements are just placed in half finished form to give me an idea of how they look.

I was torn between keeping it green and white and adding in bright colours… bit went for the yellow as it is my Mum’s favourite colour.

So I found some yellow ribbon in the stash for a bow, fussy cut the Stampendous sentiment that I had stamped with blended yellow and coral inks, cut some more Playful Alphabets and coloured them with So Saffron stampin blends and added the little flowers I had bought in a pack from Hobbycraft many years ago.

Then to decide on the background … I went with a Kraft card base in 8×8 as I had one in my stash and the originally planned white 7×7 was a bit too small … but actually I think it frames it nicely.

Then I added a mount of the So Saffron cardstock.

The white base I decided to blend some So Saffron on and do some splatters of green and coral ink to complement the colours in the rest of the card.

I added a foam panel behind this to raise it off the So Saffron and then put foam behind the wreath and a double layer under the middle of the sentiment to support it.

This gives the whole card so much dimension. I love it!

Inside I added a panel of whisper white with some more blending and splatters with a panel of So Saffron on the edge. Then I added a little cluster of the leaves I had left over and added the little sentiment strip.

I decided to add wink of Stella to the mum letters to give them some sparkle and then called it finished!

A real labour of love… but my Mum is worth it!

UK stampers forum tag swap

Was beginning to wonder if I would get round to making a tag or not for this months UK stampers forum tag swap … but then inspiration struck whilst playing with this months Creative Stamping magazine which I treated myself to this past weekend.

I stamped the floral image which was the reason I bought the magazine in the first place and decided to colour them in using soft yellows and greens and then fussy cut the image.

The magazine came with a stencil and so decided to ink through the stencil with versamark and then I was going to get a pearl embossing powder but spotted the Seth Apter Baked Texture rust powder and grabbed that instead … and wo was I happy with the result. I forgot how cool these powders were to play with.

I then grabbed some of the die cuts I spent an hour cutting from scraps the other day and layered those under the floral image.

I decided to grab the baked texture embossing powder and a scrap to make a little strip … but this time multiple layers of versamark and the powder to get the different effect and this went across the tag and under the sentiment.

Finished off with ribbon, twine and some pearls.

Love how easily this came together once the stencilling was done … it was like all the pieces were there and waiting! Nice to get a new stamp set to play with too … been a while since I bought a magazine and must admit I have a real thing about floral images at the moment.

DT: Creative Knockouts… Pattie’s Creations Christmas in July

Hello! Thanks for popping by. I have another design team creation for Creative Knockouts using an image supplied by Pattie’s Creations. The theme for this week is Christmas in July and so I chose to use the Jingle Bells Trio. The joy of digital stamps is you can make them as big or as small as you would like for your creation… and I decided to go quite big!

I wanted some soft colouring for my bells so went with masking and ink blending to make it soft and with a bit of a gradient.

I then used my Stampin Blends markers to add the bows and the central ribbon and then fussy cut them out.

I have been watching a lot of Jennifer McGuire videos recently and so I fancied having an aperture in the card.

I used my stitched shapes framelits to create the aperture and then adhered the bells over the top … I wanted however to add more dimension so I grabbed the Tonic sentiment die and cut it a couple of times to stack for dimension and coloured the word part using the same Stampin Blend markers.

But when I put it in place I felt it needed something more… I must have been in a more is more mood! So I went a little mad with the Pierced Blooms die cut leaves both on the front and inside the card!

Inside I added a couple more die cut framelits onto one I added a stamped sentiment from Christmas to remember and the other I coloured using the stampin blends to keep the colour scheme going.

I finished with the Card Candi in pink to pick up the soft colouring of the bells in the background.

So the digital stamp became more of a background rather than the focal image, but I think that shows the versatility of using digital images in your projects. Plus this is totally different in the end from how I had imagined it in the beginning … funny how that happens when you just have fun creating!

DT: Creative Knockouts … Dr Digi with diecuts

Well I feel honoured to be part of yet another Design Team, this time with Creative Knockouts. So you’ll get to see me playing along with new challenges and using a few different things that I’ve not played with in a while… like digital stamps. I have quite a large selection but I just got out of the habit of using them when I had printer or laptop issues… now those are sorted it will be good to get back to experimenting.

This weeks challenge is to use die cuts and punches and is sponsored by Dr Digi’s House of Stamps.

I chose to use the One Small Step image and teamed it with the fab star background die from Creative Expressions.

I started with the image printing onto Basic White cardstock and then I coloured it using my Stampin Write markers in soft sea foam and smoky slate colours so it is a very soft green with the grey. I did pull in a promarker for the cool grey moon base colour too.

Then I stuck the printed image to another piece of basic white before fussy cutting out. This gave it some sturdiness as I knew I wanted to raise it up with some foam. I also cut out the flag twice from the same image again to give it some dimension.

Onto the flag I stamped the love you from the Funky Fossil stamps. I intend to give this card to my hubby next week (good job he doesn’t read my blogs!) so a simple love you does the job!

Then I grabbed the Big shot and my star cover plate die and ran it through using both black and the glimmer paper from last years SU catalogue.

I cut down the black background into a 4″ square and mounted it onto white cardstock and then pieced back in a few of the glittery stars.

Then mounted the spaceman on the moon onto some foam and added him to the front of the card. I decided then that a glossy accents finish would work best on his visor so added that too.

Really this is a simple card as the die cut does all the work … but so cute to include that fab little space explorer to create the focal image.

Pink layers and fancy phrases

So for this card I went for 2 different kinds of pink … warm and cool pinks … aka Petal Pink and blushing bride… mainly because I had them in my stash of scraps.

I decided to use the beautiful Fancy Phrases stamp set as its so easy to do quick colouring on this as it lends itself to a messier style.

I fussy cut some of the image and then created a panel by straight cutting the rest. It’s a bit fiddly but worth the effort I think.

Then I mounted it on one colour pink cardstock and made the card blank out of the other. This gave it two tones but I think they work well together. I added the sentiment strip which I punched using my Pick a Banner punch. I added some little pink gems and a twine bow to finish.

Inside I added the panel of white with the small branch stamped and coloured.

Happy with how this turned out. Pretty and most importantly Pink!

DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

Hello… and here starts the 2nd half of the year… can you believe it? I can’t quite get my head around it!

So as it is the 1st of the month it is time for another Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge blog design team contribution and once again I am working with old Making Cards magazine stash and these fun confetti themed papers and sentiment panels.

Aren’t they fun papers?

Because the sentiment panels do most of the work and the large one covers most of the front of a 5×7 I had some trouble working out how to decorate them so they were a bit special and not just paper layers.

I ended up using the cute Lawn Fawn robots to add embellishment … after all I haven’t played with these in a long time!

This one I added the bow tie to the head so maybe a more feminine robot … and the cute present and cupcake.

The second one more of a masculine robot with the balloons!

On the second one I also added embossing to the red panel and thought this pattern worked well with the confetti feel.

I embellished both with card candi from the stash which I thought complimented the colours!

Inside the cards I added coordinating panels…

And the envelopes I added strips of the paper.

All done and I must admit I am happy with how these came out… cheery and fun!

Another #sheetloadofcards

I really am on a mission to use up as much of my old patterned paper as I can and grabbed three pieces of floral themed double sided paper from the random stash and made these six cards using the May 2022 Sheetload of cards template by Call me crafty Al.

I chose to also use retired colours of dsp for the card bases and added in a little Petal Pink and Rich Razzleberry.

I made two of each type… as in what I chose to embellish them with…

Two using Nature’s Prints.

Then two with Cottage Rose…

Finally two using Jar of Flowers…

I kept the cards pretty simple although did use dimension for a few bits and bobs to give them a bit of something going on!

Love how these came together and of course the Biggest Wish sentiments just finish them off perfectly. Please to have used up retired cardstock and three pieces of my 6×6 dsp too!
