Modern mosaic, Mosaic, Mosaic Madness, Sycamore Street

Commissioned 21st

So it turns out I had been missed at work … For my card making!!! Lol!

First day back I have someone come over and ask me to make her a card for her daughters 21st … But it had a weird theme. So I prepare to say no … New mantra is only to make things I want to make … No odd things where I can’t work out immediately what I want to do etc… but then she says to me can it have a Moroccan theme?

Now I have never been to Morocco but I immediately thought of the mosaic collection by Stampin Up and the Sycamore Street papers so found myself saying yes to the commission!

Slight fly in the ointment was that I don’t own the mosaic stuff … But very fortunately my lovely friend Helen did let me borrow hers! Isn’t she a saint!?!

So here is what I made…

I decided to let the Sycamore Street dsp dominate (can’t believe its a year since this was available for saleabration!) and then created the other elements using the stamps, coordinating punch and embossing folder.

I created the 21 by hand drawing them and then stamping over and then inking them up with a sponge. I then added plenty of stickles to each part of the layering and to the centres of the raised mosaics! I chose the colour scheme of Pool party, Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit & Rich Razzleberry based on the papers …. Love that they coordinate … And I know Sharon (who I was making the card for) loved it! It is a big card too (8×8) as I think Daughters should get big cards from their mums!

I didn’t do much to the envelope but added a little bit of matching decoration to one corner to coordinate! And just a little bit of stickles … Well why not?

Now I have no idea if this was even vaguely Moroccan looking but in my head it was and as Sharon was happy I think I met the brief!

Big thanks to Helen for being so generous … She really is a fab friend! Really should go to work more often to get fab commissions like this … But remember nothing I don’t actually want to make!

Happy crafting!
