Thursday treasures! Technique time

This week decided to go for a technique … Or in reality an ingredient!

This page I actually put together in very little time by grabbing some coordinating papers from the stash (no idea where I got them from!) and cardstock and then adding the embellishments later!

I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamps to add the splatters… Perfect for the page as I got them as part of the convention gifts! Also loved adding the little bunting using the Pennant Punch and bakers twine, and then the bow above the photo to finish off!

Happy crafting!

A Christmas card frenzy!

Well I have lost the plot officially and been madly making Christmas cards a lot these past few weeks. No I have no idea why… I just have! And here is another one.

Made using some Papermania papers, and then the fab stamps of Pennant parade with the pennant punch to make a Christmas tree! A lovely combination!

I added some bling to the tree and the lovely gold angel hair fabric panel too to make it special. I can’t remember the curvy stamp set name but I love this stamp of special words.

Thursday Treasures! photo prompt!

A late post this week so I thought I would cut straight to the quick this time with a photo prompt!

I spotted this gorgeous cake picture on Pinterest just by chance and figured it was so beautiful I could use it as a Thursday Treasures photo prompt…

I wonder how it will inspire you?

For me it is of course the only tea party that really counts… The mad hatters tea party of course! So I grabbed a picture the princess insisted on being taken of her, the dormouse and the teapot and set to!

I used the fabulous Confetti Celebrations DSP as it’s bright and wacky and create this page without any sketch for a change. I usually have a sketch to hand via Pinterest but occasionally, it’s dictated by the colours I want to use the papers and cardstock I have to hand … This is one such page.

I decided to use the teapot stamp from a random set I’ve had for ages from a magazine and stamped it all across the page in Strawberry slush. I also stamped one more on Whisper White, fussy cut it out, and then I added some glossy accents to this to glaze it. Next I added a bit of additional colour to the teapots with the ink and my watercolour brush.

All the DSP was matted with a layer of cardstock in coordinating colours and then doodled around the edge of the layers with my trusty white gel pen. I also added a bit of bunting made from the Pennant Parade stamps and the pennant punch. There were a couple of banners from the Banner Blast stamp set punched out. I also used the Stripes stamp to put the lines in for the journalling panel.

Sorry it’s a rubbish pic… Will need to upload a better one when I get a moment. But hopefully you can see what I did with the inspiration… And now I want tea and cake myself!

Happy crafting!

Second page from Helen’s class kit

On Wednesday night I made a start on another page, but didn’t finish it until last night. I used the Confetti Celebrations DSP kit from Helen’s class, and this layout was the sketch I started from … But mine ended up nothing like this!

For a start Helen had designed the pages using retired papers, and we were using the new DSP for our kit. Plus as I wasn’t able to stay at the class I didn’t have the dimensions etc, or what Helen’s plans were for what papers… So I made it up, and then just merrily scrapped away until I was happy with my page!

I used papers I had already cut into for yesterday’s page rather than going for new ones. The great thing about the SU papers being double sided is that you can get a different look from just one paper, and when designs are geometric like this, the way you place them can also change them.

I ended up adding a couple of different bits and pieces… I kept with the circles theme started on the previous page. I also added a punched border in the Basic Grey cardstock across the panel of papers using a Martha Stewart punch I hadn’t used for ages. I used some of the punched out chevrons from the fab Chevron punch I had used whilst at the beginning of the class… I do love this punch! In fact I need this punch!

I kept with Helen’s idea of doodling, so there were wiggly lines added for a lot of things. I added a little bit of bunting using the pennant punch and pennant parade stamps… Again something I’ve not used for a while! I also added some stickers from the stash and the Mickey Mouse heads … Think these little Mickey heads are going to be a wonderful purchase from eBay! Love them!

So hope you like what I did … I certainly do!

Happy crafting!

Thursday Treasures! Photo prompt!

This week I had a bit of a rude awakening whilst looking for the perfect photo prompt…

Why the rude awakening? Well I knew I wanted “selfie” to be the prompt for the week but rather than choose a theme I figured there would be a good picture I could use. Now I don’t advise you do this yourselves, but I was stupid enough to type selfie into google images. Now whilst the picture I have picked up is quite innocent … If a little on the cheeky side … There were plenty of not so innocent people pictured in various states of undress. So after a flustered couple of moments I was fortunate that this image was near the top and I could move quickly to the x button!!!

Anyways … A bit of modern culture this week … The selfie … Also known as self portrait by mobile phone held at arms length …. Think Cameron and Obama at Mandela memorial…. But hopefully fully clothed and more respectful!

So I decided on another Disney scrap. I have really been enjoying this recently.

I started with a sketch from this pin on Pinterest. I did make it my own with a little twist to the layout!

Just like some of the others I have shared I used the Simple Stories Say Cheese papers and stickers. So so perfect for any disney pics! I used a mixture of cardstock; Cherry cobbler, More Mustard & Marina Mist.

In terms of stamping, I used some hearts from Hearts a Flutter and that was about it. I did however use the Pennant Punch to create the little bunting out of the paper.

Hope you like what I did with my fun selfie!
