So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!
This week I have been playing with Happy Thing stamps… and not getting blown away if I am honest. Don’t get me wrong, I like the results and the stamps but just don’t see these being go to stamps at all. Today I have the lemon cards I made…
Bright and zingy papers but not a whole lot of excitement generated for me.
Did some envelope stamping too…
Nope these are going to have to go into the Lose Them pile. What a shame!
Another one for the Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge too!
I am actually heading away for a couple of days so this is a scheduled blog post as I head to Moffat to see the lovely Lynn. It is another Use it up Saturday post!
Last week I unearthed the box of cards I had started prepping at the end of December last year with the aim of making a few Xmas cards regularly and using up the Xmas paper I had hoarded. Them of course I forgot about it. Back to it with a real spring in my step now though and another six to share today!
All using the Papermania paper I have a lot of and mounted on Real red cardstock. This time my little toppers were done with two cards at a time. There are the Papermania baubles I stamped and cut out. The elves carrying gifts which I coloured using he su markers and blender pen (pleased with this work as never really used it before). The elf and the stocking were both from some unmounted stamps I was given a long time ago by my friend Karen that I’ve only just got round to mounting. I stamped a few different greetings and then layered up the cards with some pin flair and foam tape to give them some dimension. Then added little dots of stickles to give a small amount of bling!
This week a calm and pretty colour…
I made this card as a commission for my parents … I actually cheated a bit and used Promarkers for the colouring of the dress, but the colour is very similar to Wisteria Wonder.
I used the Gorjuss stamp for the main image, and added the sweet trail of heart leaves down the side in the Wisteria Wonder and coloured the hearts with Strawberry Slush. Then I added the tickets in the same colours.
I then added to the envelope…
Such cute stamps!
Happy Monday everyone! Hope it’s a good one for you … And if not let’s get some BRIGHT colour into it to cheer it up!
In fact I went very BRIGHT with this one!
I ended up using the fabulous Dylusions ink and masks to create a bright piece of paper. I inked the edge with the Pacific Point. Then on a separate piece of card I stamped a bike, some tickets and the Itty Bitty Banner sentiments in a mix of thePacific Point & Midnight. Muse inks.
A little bit of linen thread and some gold card stock to mount it. Then I made a 6×6 card blank with the Midnight Muse cardstock.
Inside the card I put an insert to which I decorated one corned, and then went mad with the inks again on the envelope.
Straight to the quick this week…
When I saw this picture I knew it was a perfect prompt for Thursday Treasures! But how to use it to get me started?
Well after a bit of pondering, I looked through the pile of projects half done, and found a page I had started in early August at Helen’s class which was for a photo of the princess at the beach creating her name out of pebbles…. Perfect!
Loved the way Helen did this layout, but have to admit I struggled with the journalling with the tickets being small. But still a fun and arty page!
I have recently had a bit of a tidy up! Mainly of the scrap box and got rid of things I really would never use by making the pieces big enough into envelopes for the lunch money for the princess! Ingenious use of paper that I otherwise would throw into the recycling! Or at least I think it is!
I have also been making up some quick and simple cards with the bits that were a bit to small to save but too pretty to throw away… Those really small bits and pieces you just can’t quite part with … So here is a selection of the cards I made using such cute bits and pieces!
A bright combination of Afternoon Daydreams, Summer Silhouettes & Papillion Pot Pourri with a splash of additional colour with the chevron ribbon!
Watercoloured Simply Sketched flower with my Inktense pencils (lush!) and used some random scraps of paper. Lovely little Itty bitty Banners sentiment too!
The fabulous Henry Says sits happily on the I am Me DSP scraps for this bright celebratory card!
Love how a delve in the scraps box can give me these three very different cards! I did some more but you will have to wait to see them!
Here we are again … It’s Monday so time to put some colour into your life!
Well this week I’m all NEUTRAL and this is a very edible colour!
I ended up making a card for a commission actually this time, and mixed in a bit of Pumpkin Pie, More mustard & cherry cobbler .
I used a couple of masks and some ink to make the background on the piece of First Edition DSP. I then chose the French Foliage stamp set and fussy cut out some leaves once I stamped them. I also added some of the splodges in the scrummy Chocolate chip. I then added in some That’s the Ticket and a Itty Bitty Banners sentiment. Also added a scrap of linen thread just to add some texture.
Then mounted this onto some papers from the scrap box, including the gold card, and mounted it all onto a cream card blank.
Next I turned to the envelope…
I masked off an area for the address and then used the stencils and inks again. Then took the mask away, and stamped the leaves and splodges before drawing some lines round the masked area.
