Kendras card challenge #2

I enjoyed making the cards for challenge #6 so decided to make another set using an older template… template #2.

I chose the Tidings and Trimmings papers and stamps and dies for the main focus… but ended up adding other bits and pieces in too like the shimmery vellum and the sparkly speciality paper… I can never resist going a little mad with those fab Peace and Joy stamps and dies either and felt a big word was perfect as the focus of a few of the cards.

Here they all are…

I make the cards in stages…. cutting, then putting the pieces into labelled envelopes, next the layers of cardstock are cut and added to the envelopes. Then I stamp and cut lots of embellishment pieces so I have a little pile to use. Then I start to assemble but not always finish the card topper (I make these as card toppers first before I add to card blanks/make card blanks). Sometimes I just add layers to the paper pieces and add a few bits into the envelope and come back as I know I want an additional element like a ribbon, or sometimes it comes together immediately with everything to hand. But at least this way I get to just do them a bit at a time and 14 cards isn’t too overwhelming to deal with!

As the template is for US sized cards I did have to fiddle a little with the sizing of the final layers to make it fit the UK size cards but it worked fine. I made the card blanks out of Cherry Cobbler cardstock as I had loads of it and then inside added a white panel and some more dsp strips or panels and a little stamping. They were all different but only took one pic of the inside…

Envelopes again I kept simple with some little banners of dsp leftover from the inside panels and that was all!

So another 14 Christmas cards made. Must admit these were a little heavy because of all the extra cardstock so maybe need to remember this and try to gut the layers a little next time.

Advent twinchies 7 8 9

Hello again… three more advent twinchies to share.

This time I created my own patterned paper using word and sentiment stamps in different coloured inks. This created a funky background.

Then I used dies cuts and a circle punch to create the focal points and the base of the numbers.

I added gems to the middle of the flowers to add a further embellishment.

Love these funky modern twinchies.

Advent twinchies 1 2 3

So as with the last couple of years I signed up for the advent swap in the Inchies, Twinchies and more group on Facebook and this year we are doing Twinchies for our advent swap!

Here are my first three …

I used some plain white card and made a background using ink on an acrylic block with water to create a lovely organic look. I mainly used Just Jade ink but also added some Mossy Meadow for variation.

Then I stamped the wreaths and the Joy from last years Paper Pumpkin Joy to the World set and the flowers too.

I then cut down the twinchies, edging them with Mossy Meadow and pulled out a few other stamps to add some more pattern in the background.

Next I stamped the red berries onto the wreaths and added some colour to some of the leaves using my Stampin Blends.

I also added some gold dots using a gold paint marker.

Finally I added the number stickers I bought for this project… so have all the numbers ready!

This year I created the swaps as sets of three so that all three work together although each set is different from the others.

Will share each set after I know they have been opened so as to not spoil any surprises.

Happy crafting!

Christmas in July challenge 10

I used more of the Tis the Season dsp again for today’s Christmas in July challenge where I decided the challenge would be fancy fold!

My current favourite fancy fold is the swing fold style that my lovely friend Valerie taught me. I decided to experiment with a few different shapes but had fun creating four cards with 2 different themes.

I decided to use the red sides of the papers mainly and then used some leftover bits and pieces from the Paper Pumpkin Joy to the world kit and some cute penguins from an old card making magazine.

I used bits and pieces of leftover paper to decorate the envelopes and the inside of the cards.

I also used some gems to finish off the cards too.

Swing fold cards, once you get the hang of them are pretty easy to make and lots of fun to choose how to decorate them. Plus they use up more papers… so it is good when you have a lovely collection of papers like the dsp stacks to work with.

Christmas in July challenge 9

Todays challenge is trees … after all one of my favourite things at Christmas is Christmas Trees.

Last year the In the Pines bundle included this fab die that cuts the inside sections of the tree and didn’t really use it much. I decided to cut the card blank with the die and put the dsp behind onto the inside of the card.

I decorated each with some banners and some random sentiments. I also added the glitter gems.

The papers from the Tis the Season work so well together and I love the traditional colours.

The joy of this kind of card also means the inside of the card looks lovely… and is begging for decoration too!

Paper Pumpkin – Joy to the World

About 2 weeks ago I received my Paper Pumpkin kit and I have been busy creating and sharing my makes over on YouTube but only just getting round to blogging what I’ve made.

For those of you that want to follow me over on YouTube and watch how I made these etc Here is my channel

I’ve made 4 videos in total using the Paper Pumpkin kit and here are the cards I’ve made.

The first two are very similar to the ones that were designed by SU on the accompanying leaflet. Of course I did change them just slightly.

Cards 3, 4, 5, 6 were using the kit keeping to fairly simple layouts but using the envelopes as dsp etc.

Card 7 I had great fun doing some messy play! Loved creating the inky background. I did add in a little extra colour with some Mossy Meadow and the Cherry Cobbler berries oh and stampin blend pen too!

Hope you enjoyed these. I’ve got loads of leftovers in the kit so wondering what I will make next?

Happy crafting!
