DT: Fab’n’funky: cute puppy dog

Hi there. It’s been a little while since I’ve done a DT project for Fab’n’Funky mainly due to stuff going on in the real world that I have had to take priority. But I am back and have this gorgeous Puppy dog card I made using a digital stamp from All Dressed Up. I love this image.

It really is so cute. I coloured it in using Spectrum Noir pencils and then cut it out. I decided it needed a funky mixed media background so used the Fresco finish paints and some stamps to create a background and then used a die cut to put a panel behind the puppy.

I brushed both the card blank, the sentiment and the die cut panel with a stencil brush to give some depth.

The challenge for this week is Add a Sentiment.  Mine is a stamped one I punched out.  What would yours be?

Head over to the blog to see what everyone else chose.

Happy crafting!

Three sheet wonder… set 2 and 3 of cards

Yesterday I shared the first part of the three sheet wonder I did from the Gingham Garden dsp I am using up as part of this year’s Use them or Lose them challenge.

Today I have set 2 and set 3 of the cards I made.

Firstly I used the fabulous Clare Lloyd girl stamp to create these two cards…

I coloured the girl with Promarkers and the sentiment is a Lawn Fawn one I thought worked with the style of card.

The next are using a stamp from a random other set I got in a sale… but quite funky!

I used the ticket punch and the sentiment from the Henry Says sey.   I used embossing for the bottom layer to add more texture, and the lovely bakers twine too.

These I remembered to stamp the envelope too…

Simple, but a nice finishing touch I think.
I have a couple more sets of cards to share from this bumper One sheet wonder.  Pop back tomorrow to see how I finished these off.  Love how different the little sets are.

Happy birthday Sue

Today is my friends birthday (it’s also my niece and my uncles birthday too but this is about Sue’s birthday!).

Every year this coincides with the start of the school term so in the chaos that creates I usually forget to take her card and present with me to school to hand over.  But this year I remembered!!! Whoop! So I can share the card I made nice and early in the day!

I created a background using the Emerald Brusho and love the different colours that are in this one pot of colour.

I then used a Tiddly Inks digital stamp which I coloured with Promarkers as the focal image.  I have been using a lot of digital stamps recently as I printed a whole load off that I had bought ages ago and never got round to using.  Hey are a nice addition to my (already sizeable) rubber stamp collection and are perfect for adding focal points.

I also added a stamped sentiment from the Henry Says set… i love the funky font on this one.

The layers were created by edging the cardstock with Promarkers green and black India ink making it look like there are lots of layers but really there are only two.

So a bit different… but pleased with this effect. Hope Sue likes her oriental funky and modern card.

Card in a box for baby Josslyn

One of my friends at work has recently had a gorgeous baby girl, Josslyn.  She also admired the card in a box I made for my cousins little boy.  So I thought as a little treat for her first trip into work with baby Josslyn (that I unfortunately had to miss as had meetings out of the building that day) I would make a card for her to open!

Here is the starting point…

Using Strawberry slush, Crisp Canteloupe and Bermuda Bay inks I stamped using the embossing folders the backgrounds in a technique I will be teaching at the next art journalling session.  Creates such a cool effect.  These were then added to the constructed box.

Next I stamped and cut out lots of cute embellishments.  Heart based things from Language of love, little bunting banners from Henry Says, and the animals from a retired set called Animal Stories.  I kept to the same colour scheme for everything, strawberry slush, crisp Canteloupe, lost lagoon, Bermuda bay.  I didn’t want it to be pastels as such, but more bright pastels as they seem more Mish and Jody’s style!

Next I started decorating the box… Here are the sides…

I added sentiments from a couple of different sets I have got.

Then the front from slightly different angles…

Really pleased with how this came out.  Cute but funky at the same time!

Fingers crossed next time Josslyn comes to visit work I will be there to say hello in person and dole out many cuddles!

Bitty Banner framelits, Henry Says, Make a Monster, Simply Stars

Monster pop up card box!

Firstly I have to share this news… In February my blog was visited by over 200 people… Wowsers!  Thanks everyone!  I think it might be because I actually shared some of my work via challenges etc, but still… As I don’t know 200 people i am a little stunned!  It is spurring my to keep doing what I am doing … Creating and crafting because I want to and not to meet some other need… This seems to be the key to success!

Now what have I got for you today… This card was made for my cousins son for his 6th birthday several weeks ago… But being as rubbish as I am at posting things or getting these cards to the recipients in time for the birthday I am only sharing it now as he has only just received it!

So without further ado… Here it is!

I used lots of things to make it… Simply Stars stamps, Make a Monster stamps, little banners from Henry Says stamps, Itty Bitty banners, some gems, painted cardstock and of course some googlie eyes!

So all the red and blue cardstock was white card that I painted to give a nice texture, then everything was either stamped on plain white or on the painted cardstock. I added the monsters onto some acetate strips to get them to float.

Cute!

Happy crafting!

I grabbed ten cards which had a fabulous tree paper backed with Old Olive cardstock, this was my batch!

The paper worked perfectly with the Festival of Trees stamp and punch of course… So these were next… On some scrap (of course) whisper white…

Then a delve through the scraps box gave me some lovely Raspberry Ripple to go with the greens, punched and embossed!

A quick rummage in the ribbons basket secured some lengths of ribbon.

Ten cards then assembled, including sentiments stamped from Henry Says and stickles added for some quick and easy bling!

Apart from the cardstock for matting the DSP and the card blanks… A perfect example of how to Use It Up!

Tidying up the scrap box

I have recently had a bit of a tidy up! Mainly of the scrap box and got rid of things I really would never use by making the pieces big enough into envelopes for the lunch money for the princess! Ingenious use of paper that I otherwise would throw into the recycling! Or at least I think it is!

I have also been making up some quick and simple cards with the bits that were a bit to small to save but too pretty to throw away… Those really small bits and pieces you just can’t quite part with … So here is a selection of the cards I made using such cute bits and pieces!

A bright combination of Afternoon Daydreams, Summer Silhouettes & Papillion Pot Pourri with a splash of additional colour with the chevron ribbon!

Watercoloured Simply Sketched flower with my Inktense pencils (lush!) and used some random scraps of paper. Lovely little Itty bitty Banners sentiment too!

The fabulous Henry Says sits happily on the I am Me DSP scraps for this bright celebratory card!

Love how a delve in the scraps box can give me these three very different cards! I did some more but you will have to wait to see them!

Happy crafting!
