Hi there. Sorry I have been AWOL for the past few days. After our trip away and the wedding weekend I’ve not really stopped and made room for crafting… but today that changed and I’ve spent most of the day being creative. It’s been fab!
I started by catching up on some of the #52playingcardchallenge I’ve been doing this year… I had 4 weeks to catch up on. So over the course of a few hours I managed to get 4 cards made.
1. Round and round
2. Lady in Red
I videoed the process so here is the link.
I love how different they all are and am especially in love with the cow one! Love the Teesha Moore style of this.
When Chris gave the prompt of Make Your Mark for this week’s 52 mixed media cards challenge I knew I would be going for some Seth Apter style work… especially as I had also just got some new stash to play with!
I didn’t video the process for making the ATC but did make the background on camera as I played with the stash for the first time… here is the linkto the long video of me experimenting with new stash.
Anyway the following day I grabbed 10 mins to make the ATC from the masterboard background and some other bits and pieces.
I am completely in love with the Seth Apter embossing powders… perfect for grungy embellishments like this heart.
Today I am off to scale the heights of the trees in delamere forest with the princess and her bestie… wish me luck. I also have another YouTube video to share with you that I made on Friday and for a change it doesn’t have anything to do with Distress Oxides.
Instead the medium of choice was gelatos!
I made a piece of art using some packaging as the base and then used gelatos and stash from the Artful Days goodie box from February.
Here it is framed on the bookcase… complete with the curling brush I’ve just noticed!
And pre framing an extreme closeup!
And here it is in the light but in its frame!
Hope you manage to pop to my YouTube video to see the process. I really enjoyed this challenge.
Yes I am still playing with distress oxides. This time some ATC’S I made last night.
I started with some papers cut from wipe offs from inky Gelli plate play.
I gradually built up the colours using the distress oxides…
Next I started on some stamping using a Paula Pascal set of stamps and a Kaisercraft stamp.
I then had a hunt for a suitable quote or title and thought this Seth Apter one worked perfectly.
I then trimmed each of the pieces slightly and mounted on some peachy orange cardstock.
Then I grabbed some acrylic ink and splattered it across the cards.
OK time for some close ups…
I love how these came out. The colours, the stamping and the Seth Apter quote work perfectly together.
Very pleased indeed… and the love affair with distress oxides continues!
I made another card using distress oxide inks and some stamps.
I love the layers of stamping and the embossing for the top stamping and edging.
I just adore distress oxides. They are so easy to create fab backgrounds.
Tonight I have some ATC’S to share that I made a few nights ago… why? Because I had stamped the Tim Holtz butterflies out and coloured them with distress crayons but then not used them… so decided rather than adding them to the pile of things that needed using I would make some ATC’S. Of course I was actually meant to be tidying the desk … but the creating took over again … but I did manage to create these without getting anything else out… they were created using what I could reach on my desk from where I sat!
As you know I am #maremismallart obsessed at the moment and she released another ATC video on you tube recently so that may well have inspired me.
Some time ago I cut up all the scratch papers I had been hoarding into ATC size so that I have a stash of them I can go to… some of them in sets from the same sheet… here is one such set…
Although they all look different they came from the same scratch paper … love these organic backgrounds.
In this case all I added was a little stamping… and a die cut for each of them that I had added either silver or mother of pearl paint over the top to make them shiny.
I also added plenty of splats of white and black paint and some doodling and shading using the Faber-Castell Pitt big brush pens.
Next for the butterflies. I added a strip of patterned vellum… again it was on the desk … and some brads.
More doodling, some Tim Holtz word stickers and then finished off with some crystal stickles to add some bling and Glitter!
Each of the panels is slightly smaller than ATC size which allows me to mount them onto a plain card as a base.
Love how all three came out. Not sure what to name them as a set yet… but thinking of framing them as a set as I think that would look nice.
Wonder what I will make next time I am tidying up? And is the desk tidy? Not a chance!
