Tropical twinchies

Hello! By now I hope everyone’s coins have arrived for the tropical swap so I can share the twinchies I made to add into their parcels as my thank you for participating. I’ve been doing this a few months now and really enjoy making them and adding them as a little surprise.

Of course as the theme was tropical I went for bright and cheery colours…

I used a mix of paints in the background that were all fresco finish paints and stencilled using a jofy stencil before cutting the sheet into 1.75″ squares. I also added some white pen work to add more details and then edged it with blue archival. I also stamped aloha onto all of them in the same blue ink.

Next I created the pineapples by creating oxide ink background and stamping the lawn fawn pineapple over the top. Then I added extra fun with sparks art alchemy paint… some of them overstamping and most by adding it to the leaves.

I layered the top panel onto the twinchies I had made and edged each one with orange ink but placed them at angles rather than the usual straight on like I normally do!

So this was 20 twinchies made for the swaps…

A tropical postcard

I was still in the zone thinking about tropical stuff (My theme for this month’s ATC swap) and had played with glimmer paste onto a piece of glossy cardstock I had added some mop up of distress oxide to…

And figured this was a good starting point for a postcard.

Once the glimmer paste was dry I added more oxides to give the background more colour.

Then I trimmed it down. I felt it needed another layer and so took another piece of the glossy cardstock and did the same technique but with more ink and deeper colours so it would contrast the top layer. Once that was dry I sewed them together to add another type of texture.

At this point there was no stamping… and that is pretty much the only criteria of the swap… so out came my trusty Lawn Fawn aloha set. I stamped and embossed on the oxide background I had made on watercolour card in perfect pineapple colours. And then the sentiment onto black cardstock strip. I adhered the strip down and added a gold staple to add another texture. Then I added the pineapple and added lots of Wink of Stella on top to make it sparkly.

I then cut a piece of mountboard and coated it in black gesso (front and back) and glued the whole piece to that… keeping to the wonky angles.

Finally I added some white enamel accents dots to add some more texture.

I then added some stamping on the other side of the card… I used distress oxides and then embossed them to provide a border.

Super happy with all of this.

Pineapple birthday card

The other night I shared a card where on the envelope I had added lawn fawn pineapples… well I didn’t put the stamp set away and created this card using the same stamp set and used colours inspired by the Color Throwdown challenge…

I used some paints to create the background just using a brayer to move the paint around a bit. This gives it a graphic type of look. I did add lime and a darker blue into my card (as a shade of green) but still think it is in keeping with the colour challenge.

I then stamped and embossed the pineapples down the one side.

Next I added a piece of patterned paper as a layer underneath and stamped the sentiment.

I then thought the card blank needed something too so added the splotchy stamp using Distress oxide in two colours to add a panel of colour.

Finished off with lots of wink of Stella on the pineapples and some … yes you’ve guessed it … black enamel accents!

I also stamped a pineapple and some colour on the envelope … just to finish off that too of course!

Happy birthday Grace

It’s one of the princess’ friends birthday today so I made her a card.

I wanted to play with my small square gelli plate and so layered a few prints up in zingy bright colours of fresco finish paints.

This provided the backdrop for the focal point … a tag I painted in mermaid paint and a flamingo stamped and embossed onto the wipe off card I had been wiping the brayer off on.

I decided to stamp the happy repeatedly on the card blank in two colours of ink (coastal cabana and pool party SU inks) and this creates a fun background for the topper.

Then I heat embossed the script Happy and added a little ribbon tag for the rest of the sentiment.

And finally… black enamel accents… Will I ever get bored of using these? … and some wink of Stella on the flamingo… after all sparkle is always fun!

I also did a little stamping to the envelope using the Lawn Fawn pineapple stamp set. Thought this added a cute little touch to the envelope.

Hi… another coin video for you to see… and more for the theme of play as I got a little carried away and fancied making more!

So this time robots, spaceships and toy cars are the feature images and the colour scheme is blues and greens… I started with a masterboard.

And then die cut it and moved it onto the features.

Here are the finished articles…

Really cute! Love these so much and love the fact making a masterboard like this gives you the easy option of making multiples… and I also have an ATC background too to finish at another time.

Aloha! Time to party!

Today is one of the princess’ best friends birthday (And her twin birthday too… happy birthday Matthew!). Tonight I have seven 11/12 year olds sleeping over to celebrate both Hannah’s birthday and Maya’s from last week.

So we have a tropical themed decor going on… plenty of pineapples and flamingos!

And I’ve gone for a simple but fun theme for the party bags…

I created little clusters of fun patterned papers and then the lovely Lawn Fawn pineapples (coloured with distress ink and heat embossed) and some die cut banners handstamped with their names.

I added some strips of ribbon too that coordinates too and attached them to the bags with coloured staples.

So this is them last night (Yes as usual I was last minute… and today need to actually do something about putting something in them!) and later today I will have to share the cards I made for Hannah and Matthew!

Making boy cards

A change of pace tonight and instead of atcs I have some cards to share. I am not the biggest fan of making cards for males… they don’t seem to appreciate pretty things like flowers and ribbons and bling! Grrrrrr… so I have instead resorted to robots and spaceships! 

A simple robot stamping experiment… and finished with a little doodling. 

And this is a repeat of the card I made back in early Feb for my cousins sons’ birthday. 

Pretty happy with these even if they are missing some bling !!!

Happy birthday to Matt!

Yesterday we celebrated our good friend Matt’s 40th birthday. It had been his birthday a couple of weeks earlier but this was the first opportunity to get us all together.

Here is the card I made for him.

I used Lawn Fawn beep beep stamps and some keep calm stamps I got especially for the occasion.

I coloured in the little bots using a mixture of pens and metallic pencil.

We had a great time celebrating together… and as the youngest in the group I enjoyed calling him an old man many times! He he!
