Colour my Monday! Marina Mist!

Happy Monday everyone … Scratch that … Happy Bank Holiday Monday! Oh yes … I do love a bank holiday!

Monday’s are my colour play days… And even though it is a bank holiday I still have some colour to share! This week I have gone for a SUBTLE one … Lovely and relaxing this one…

A lovely blue which to me reminds me of the sky on a lovely spring morning! Having said that I went for a Christmas card … So maybe also the sky on a clear frosty morning too!

I was actually using the sketch from Tinsel Tuesday as I hadn’t got round to making any this month yet… Go check out the sketch here.

I started with the linen cardstock and stamped the beautiful Ornament Keepsakes bauble in the Marina Mist. I decided to handcut it out as was being lazy and not getting the Big Shot out … Silly because when I then created the three strips behind the bauble I decided to emboss them so I got it out anyway! Doh!

The strips were embossed with a random snowflake folder I’ve got, and then edged with the same colour blue. I then took another piece of linen cardstock and stamped the Sanded background stamp on it in the same colour and edged the piece with blue again.

I mounted this onto the card, and then decided that I needed a sentiment, so grabbed some new Papermania ones I got as a bargain and stamped it onto a strip, which I edged and then placed on the card. Finishing touch… A bit of bling!

Love how this came together… Beautiful, subtle and calming card!

Tinsel Tuesday September sketch

Yes yes yes … It really is time for another Tinsel Tuesday sketch … Christmas is creeping up quite quickly now as children go back to school after the holidays so time to start Christmas card crafting to make sure you meet your end of year deadlines.

I create Christmas cards all year round (mainly because I am a little mad) because it helps me make sure I am ready when it gets to the mad month! This challenge I set at the beginning of the year to create two cards based on a sketch I provide on the first Tuesday of the month. I haven’t always managed it but have kept the challenge going regardless!

This month the sketch is…

And this month I created two very different styles of card!

I used Woodware stamps to create this simple card and coloured it with a mixture of inks. Quite fancy doing this one again with different colours like pink and blue for a funky themed one!

This used some scraps I found of the fabulous Winter Frost DSP which I used in combination with come circles and a doily, and then the ornament from Ornament Keepsakes stamp set.

Love the different cards I made using the same sketch as the starting point!

Christmas heat wave!

For reasons I don’t really understand I made a Christmas card on one of the hottest days of the year so far yesterday … Yes I am officially nuts!

To be honest it was more related to using my Inktense blocks for stamping than to make a card, but make a card I did!

I wet the stamp and then ran the fuschia inktense block over the stamp and the stamped it. I held it in place for a little while to make sure the ink transferred and was reasonably happy with the result. I then used a paintbrush to paint the blended border.

Next a simple mount onto silver paper and DSP, and then a sentiment from Happy Hour used to finish off. Lovely! And simple!

Happy crafting!
