Mixed Media Monday: Family journalling

Yes I have indeed started another journal, although this was one I bought which has really narrow notebooks in it. I chose the one with blank pages to start on (there are lined and grid page notebooks too) and decided to make it into a journal for adding pages about family members… and started with the youngest member of the family… my youngest great nephew, Hugo, born November 2020.

I have yet to meet him (or indeed my youngest niece who is 2) so I am reliant on photos I am sent or see on Facebook etc.

Decided to mainly use the soft green cloud paper I had cut into for another project and other papers on the desk along with the cute journalling card which I created into a flip so I could put some journalling behind it.

The Welcome sign was cut from some packaging I had on the desk and the heart stencilled piece was a Gelli print I made earlier in the day for another project but decided not to use … decided it was perfect for adding to this page, along with the wipe off from my brayer.

I stamped Hugo using some large alpha stamps from Paperartsy and love how that came out.

On the circles I punched and added, I also punched and added hearts and then used glossy accents to make them into dimensional embellishments and went to town with doodled lines etc.

Quite a quick page to put together and good that most of it was using up stash off the desk so required no new items or papers and pleased I could add in a bit of mixed media too with the Gelli print etc.

Stampin Up Sunday … Happy 15th Birthday Maya

Today is the 15th birthday of my baby girl! Boy do I feel old!

Anyway it’s a day for her (yes I know everyone else is doing mothering Sunday but mine has been postponed for a week!)… and so of course todays blog is her birthday card.

It was mainly SU products… admittedly the paper is saleabration so no longer available, not are the sentiments… but I think it still qualifies! 😄

I went a bit overboard but love how it came out! Paper Blooms dsp, Soft sea foam, Petal Pink and seaside spray cardstock all layered up with a bit of embossing and Pierced Blooms dies.

I added the Happy Celebrations stamping, some letter stickers for her name and foam stickers for the 15.

The focal image was from a Making Cards magazine that I thought worked nicely. Then finished off with pearls and some wink of Stella and a glossy accents on the crown.

Inside the card I used the off cuts of the dsp and stamped a sentiment from an old stamp set (Picture perfect birthday) which I thought worked well, and added more die cuts.

I ended up having to make an envelope as I didn’t have any big enough (it’s a 7×7 card). So I used some of the dsp, and leftover card. I stamped her name and then cut out the large flower from a piece of leftover dsp.

I also made a coordinating tag for on her gift…

So happy birthday to my gorgeous princess Maya xxx

More junk journalling … very interactive fold out page

Today I have a very interactive fold out page in my junk journal which I made and documented the different fashion statements of lockdown… pj’s or full makeup and nice dress!

I made this page over a series of sessions and threw loads of bits at it… patterned papers, stickers and washi…

Really happy with how it ended up.

Fun to create something with so many elements and fold outs and hidden bits of journalling.

Junk Journal 2021 … a couple of pages

I’ve got a few pages in my junk journal for 2021 to share with you.

First up a page documenting a trip to the new office. Admittedly it was only a quick visit to reception to collect a new laptop but still it was my first real visit inside and I love how modern and posh it looked. Lookong forward to the day when we can get in there to actually work for the day and use all the facilities.

I took two pics and got them printed off and created the flip up to fit both pics and the journalling. Used lots of bits of papers I had in the box of bits, plus some bits I received in the post that day (the yellow ombre was a card I received, the brown was part of an envelope).

Next up a simple page documenting the new logo for my blog… well why the heck not?

Love these very different but fun pages.

Crazy coins

This month and last we switched to virtual challenges for my ATCoin group. Last month I chose the challenge of Bright and this month Crazy. I actually combined both for these coins.

I used gelli prints for the background which had lots of doodling on, and then the bird is a Paperartsy Zinski stamp which I added watercolour for the colouring.

I also added some glitter gems for added fun!

Colour palette inchies swap

Today I have the inchies I made for the February colour palette swap. This is the colour palette I was working with…

Lots of lovely pinks!

So I cut my inchies and grabbed my pink tones promarkers to add colour.

This gave me lots to go with but I decided to add the same image to each and keep them simple. I love this flower image from Zinski Paperartsy stamps.

I edged each inchies with silver pen and then mounted them onto the three coloured cardstocks.

Think this could make a lovely card front.

52 mixed media cards… easter

The prompt last week was Easter and at the weekend I made this offering for the challenge using the fab Zini chick stamp.

Plenty of fun layers for this. Adhesive canvas onto the mountboard. Then brushos added using Matt medium. Then modelling paste through the brick stencil.

Whilst that dried I fussy cut a flower from some patterned paper and watercoloured the chick using brushos and fussy cut that too.

Then I adhered down the flowers, added some gesso behind where the chick was going and then stuck that down too.

Added some shading using the brushos again and then some letter stickers for the title.

Distress oxide ink, Elenazinski, Emma Godfrey, Masks/Stencils

Distress oxide zinski fun!

I wanted to play with my Paperartsy stamps and distress oxides and so I grabbed some linen cardstock, black cardstock and the inks and started playing.

This is what I made… I used Emma Godfrey stamps for the background and then used glimmer paste through a stencil to add sparkle.

Next on a separate piece of card I stamped and embossed the sentiment and added a lot of the distress oxide in a wetter format. This provided a lovely vibrant colour. I did the same for the flower and fussy cut that out.

I then added the sentiment on a strip of white that I edged with black and layered it all up onto a card blank.

Love the cute flower and the font for the sentiment.

Zig Zag book swap

Last month I joined in a swap through the Mini Marvels Facebook group. The theme for this swap was a zig zag book. I’ve just realised I never shared what I made on my blog…. ooops!

Here is what I made… using fresco finish paints and Darcy’s Paperartsy stamps.

It was so difficult to photograph.

Loved making this project. And certainly quite a cute project as pretty much ATC sized.
