Raggy doll journal… this time it’s Jackie’s turn

So I am catching up on some projects but not entirely there yet. Hopefully by the end of the week I might have got there on all my projects outstanding.

This is the latest raggy doll journal I’ve worked on and I had to use Leannes lovely background and go with the theme of face.

I adore the colours and the way she has applied the paint. It really is quite scrumptious.  I decided to use a Paperbabe template to start my girl off and then used a variety of paint and pencils to colour her in.

I added very little to the background as wanted to preserve as much of what Leanne had done.  I added some flicks of paint, a few pearl accents and the texture paste word down one side. The title is a Tim Holtz stickers and I added the flower and button to finish off the girl too.

Happy with how this came out.  The next theme is Geometric shapes and I went a little bit crazy for the background I prepared for Lynn to finish.

Loving this collaborative project. It certainly pushes me to do something a bit different when using someone else’s backgrounds.

Happy crafting!

Fun in my journal

A couple of weeks ago I had a little bit of a play in my journal with inktense blocks and a water brush using the reverse image of another page as the guide.

I really like how this came out as it was a very loose painting.  Particularly pleased with the love.  I used a die cut as a guide and then painted it in with the inktense.

Then last week I had some more fun in my journal using my new Kim Dellow stamps from paperartsy… They are fabulous! I wanted to create a layered watercolour background so created this with layers of gesso and watercolour. I then stamped the images on tissue paper and coloured them with watercolour and then mod podged them in. There was also a layer of stamping with distress ink that I then blended with water and smudged some gesso over the top. Of course also plenty of splats and splashes of watercolour too

Loved creating this and loved I had no reason to do it other than to play!

Art journalling session preparation

Awake still in the middle of the night and have three times tried to sleep but now back on my phone faffing around so I thought I might as well update my blog and post todays project.

This year my friends and I are continuing our art journalling sessions. This time instead of a technique or different media each time and me teaching, it will be a themed based session and everyone can create according to that theme using whatever media I have out and available.  I will provide some inspiration as part of the theme and then people can have a free for all and go with whatever takes their fancy on the night.

The first theme we have is flight.

One of the samples I’ve made is in a journal and two are tags.  The journal spread I am sharing today as it also works for the Mixed Media Mojo challenge of winter and glitter.

I used Paperbabe stamps (newish to me… have had them a while but not used them till now) and a selection of random alphas and words.

The background was created using Brushos (Ultramarine and Lemon) then the image coloured using Brushos again, this time as a more traditional watercolour (light brown and ultramarine and scarlet).  I then used Stickles to add glitter to the angels wings.

Hopefully this will inspire someone at the class.  I will be sharing the tags tomorrow.

Happy crafting!
