Cafe cards… 35, 36 and 37

Hello there… another few atcs to share today that are part of the weekly challenge Marta sets up in Maremis Creative cafe fb group.

These are the cards for weeks 2, 3 and 4…

Week 2 was bubbles… so bubble printing and doodling and quote about bubbles… perfect.  Then added the sparkly domes too.

Week 3 was coffee… of course I had to use the perfect blend stamps… plus some beads and thread to add texture.

Week 4 was Dragonfly… the feature came from Awesomely Artistic and this was added to a pretty pastel background card to which I added the quote from Darcy’s stamps.

Love how different these look and grateful for the inspiration in the fb group.

Happy crafting !

Playing with distress ink to say goodbye and good luck!

A few nights ago I found myself playing with distress inks and blending tools, and ended up creating quite a few background panels for projects, all of which started life as Very Vanilla cardstock… I have a plan for them all, and they are related to different projects over the next few weeks time… But for now… Look at the colour!

So the first project I chose the fifth from left (third from right) and chose to make a good luck /good bye card for a friend who has a new job he started today.  Colours used were Cracked Pistachio, Wild Honey & Peeled Paint.

I knew which focal image I wanted to use, and the fact I wanted a bold sentiment on the front to personalize it so it was quite an easy job… Some additional Gorgeous Grunge stamping in two of the coloura I had used in the background, Dictionary stamping in Vintage Photo, a spritz of water through a stencil (Paperartsy one) to lift the colour a bit, Claritystamps Letterbox stamps for the sentiment, Perfect Blend SU set for the focal image, Island Indigo for the card and Hello Honey cardstock for the mount.  Perfect!  Just had to slightly amend the little phrase on the cup… Mark drinks tea… I am the coffee drinker… So now sentiment perfect for him, whereas usually it is perfect for me!

As the cardstock for the blank is a bit dark to write on I added a panel of Very Vanilla to the inside which I decorated first…

So happy with project number one… I know several of these will be part of next months class… Wondering what will become of the others? You will have to wait and see!

I am entering this in the Paperartsy challenge this fortnight… The challenge is to use words so this qualifies on many levels!

Here’s hoping Mark had a good first day in his new role!  As for my first day without my friend at work… It turns out the new Mark is not quite as much fun to work with!

Happy crafting!

Art journalling… First of the year… With Fairefoxes!

Hi there. Hope you are well. Today I reclaimed the craft room for a few hours! After taking the parents to the airport to fly home to Spain I managed a couple of hours playtime in the craft room. I do love having the parents here, but miss my crafting time as the spare room is the craft room. So it was good to get back in there in the time I had to myself as I was off for the afternoon.

So what did I do? Well I did a page in my journal. Why? Well because my friend Rae inspired me to do so. She is running an art journalling weekly blog and encouraging art journallers… Experienced and novice to join her. So I count myself somewhere in the middle of that and wanted to join in this week.

The first challenge is … Firsts! So obviously not my first ever page… But my first of this year. I spotted the quote on Pinterest and thought it worked well!

The journal I grabbed is a not particularly good quality sketchbook I’ve had for a while. The pages bleed through so I decided to glue two together to give them more strength. I also added some washi tape to stop the paper tearing too much near the binding. Suspect there will be a fair few pages torn out if I carry on using this journal… Oh well… Started now and loved this page!

Dylusions spray through a stencil … In a complete aside… Dylusions acrylic paint launching at CHA this week… NEED!!! Anyways, added some ink with a dauber through a circle stencil and then outlined the circles.

Next I added the swirl from Everything Eleanor stamp set using the Inktense blocks to provide the watery look to the stamping. I added the Dictionary stamping then down the left hand side.

Then I stamped the letters out using some random stamps I picked up in Paperchase and handcut each one. Then stuck them down and outlined them.

When I had put them on the page I realised I needed a focal image… Just immediately thought of the coffee cup in Perfect Blend with the rule the world sentiment and thought it was perfect. Used some paper I had wiped the stencil off on for stamping the cup, and added some extra shading using Inktense. Then cut it out and stuck it down. Once it was stuck down I added some more shading to make it look more 3d. Finishing touch was adding the date to the bottom corner!

So two hours play… One page done… Happy girl!

Happy crafting!
