More technique Christmas cards for swapping

Yesterday I shared cards made for a swap … well I made 8 in total but these ones I kept to a more traditional look.

I decided to use patterned paper, to add some ink blending and splatters and then stamping and fussy cutting to create the focal images.

I’ve been using the Christmas Season set a lot for foliage recently so decided to change it up for these and used the foliage from the retired Peace and Joy which has been a favourite set for quite a while but mainly for the words. So decided to give the other stamps a little more attention!

I stamped each leaf 4 times and chose a different ink for each leaf type (the Holly stamp is a pair of leaves so I ended up with 8 in total!).

I blended ink on the white panels in a slightly different way for each and then splattered with a darker ink. Then I made my little clusters of leaves.

I decided to raise each topper panel up on foam and then add strips of paper underneath the sentiment (from the In the Pines) set. I then added pearls to the images along with a little more stamping using the accent type stamp from the Peace and Joy set.

The patterned paper is from the stash and I love how these coordinating packs work well together. I then chose to use Cherry Cobbler as the base for the card blank.

I also added some twine to these two to add a different texture.

Hopefully the recipient in the swap likes the two different styles I chose to make up the 8 cards.

Tags and trees

Some more Heartwarming Hugs dsp cards and this time using up scraps to create fun tags as the focal features…

Both of the tags were created using strips of the leftover papers and then adding a punched out tree for the final bit of decoration.

I used up bits of papers that had been cut up and leftover from all the other projects and love how they look all together like this.

I also created a few other tags using a similar technique.

The moose and the tree were leftovers from the class and then loved adding the glitter glue for the moose ones too! Sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set.

And finally one more card with again, leftover bits and pieces… an easel card using the final bits left on the desk… looking forward to working with some different papers in the new year!

Stampin Up Sunday … In the Pines cards

Today for Stampin Up Sunday I have some little cards I made a few weeks ago for the lovely ladies who joined me for some Christmas crafting via Zoom.

I went with 4×4 cards and then created a little scene using Distress oxide inks and embossing and the stamps and dies from the In the Pines set.

Love how cute these are… and such simple little cards to make using the snow bank dies and then the little tree.

The background I made using the splattered stamp with white embossing from the Gorgeous Grunge set. There is a snow stamp in the In the Pines set but for speed it was quicker to use the other one as it would go across the whole panel in one stamp!

After I stamped and embossed the snow I added a post it note circle and then used the Blueprint Sketch and Peacock Feathers oxides before going over it with Black Soot to create a lovely night sky.

The snow banks I layered up, but first brushed the edge of them with a stencilling brush that had a pale blue ink residue on it. I just added a little definition.

The tree I stamped with Pear Pizazz and Mossy Meadow.

Once I had layered it up I then die cut it with the stitched shape square… I love this finish to the panel.

The card bases were made from Mossy Meadow which gave a nice rich finish to the little cards.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas dear blog readers… hope you have a lovely day, however you choose to enjoy it. Clearly we all have had very different years all year and Christmas will no doubt be a different experience too. However staying safe is the most important thing and we will get to party and spend time with our loved ones another time as long as we stay safe!

OK… onto the crafting… today I have the cards I made for the child and the hubby to share with you. As usual they were the last cards I’ve made… always left until the last minute!

The Princess got a pretty wreath card with peach and green colours and lots of white.

Hopefully you can see plenty of sparkle on the words too and a bit of soft wool for the bow.

The hubby also had word dies feature, but I went for a wintery scene instead…

I used lots of ink blending and splatter for the background and lots and lots of sparkle on the trees too.

Entering this card into the Stampin Up only challenge for Winter cards.

Really pleased with both cards and they incorporated my new obsession of die cutting which I have really taken to this past few months.

More heartwarming hugs and In the Pines cards

Today I have some more cards made using the Heartwarming Hugs dsp and the In the Pines stamps and dies.

These are the cards I made as a starting point for designing the card making class. Some of these made the final cut… but with some different papers in some cases! And others I decided against … still love them, but decided they weren’t the ones for sharing with the group.

Gift pouches … with scalloped tags

Today I’m sharing the little Christmassy gift pounches I sent to the crafting zoom ladies last week… because they are so cute!

I used the long since retired book print paper to create the pouches and added the tags I made using scraps left from the cards I designed.

I used the lovely little tree stamp for an embellishment and then used some red and white twine from the stash.

Just so cute! Love making these little pouches. I added the little Malteeser reindeer as a treat.

Heartwarming hugs zoom craftalong

A few days ago I shared the samples I made for the craft along I did with my friends via zoom.

Well as I really don’t enjoy making the same projects over and over, here is what I made…

One card pretty much stayed as per the sample, but the others I either changed the paper (the joy of double sided papers and everything matching perfectly with Stampin Up means you automatically get a different look just turning over the papers!

Some I changed the placement of the elements and some I did switch the embellishment/focal feature from the trees from the In the Pines to a Merry Moose … because I hadn’t used him an few weeks so I missed seeing him! 😂

But I did keep to the same pieces of paper and cardstock as the kit for all the cards and really enjoyed my different take on the cards.

My friends similarly chose their own way of finishing the cards off and some chose to keep the design the same, but different paper choices and others changed up the design entirely. I love seeing the different versions and people having fun being creative.

Really loved creating with these patterned papers… Good job actually as I ordered a whole extra pack of them… so guessing next year for Christmas cards we will be continuing with the red and green colour scheme!

And those In the Pines tree stamps and the coordinating dies will definitely be coming out to play again… so lovely!

Heartwarming Hugs & In the Pines

Yesterday I held another card making zoom session with my friends… and here are the samples from the class. I wanted to use the In the Pines dies and stamps and decided to go with the fun Heartwarming Hugs dsp.

I used the coordinating cardstock in Real Red, Pear Pizazz and Mossy Meadow. I also added white seam binding, red braided linen trim and some red organza ribbon.

I decided for the class to mix up the style of cards with some easel, z folds and the usual cards. I also mixed it up using both the Scalloped tag topper punch and the Banners Pick a Punch to create some interest.

I added a few sentiments from the Banner Year stamps set too.
