Artistically Inked, Lovely Inside and Out, Paper Blooms

Patterned paper playtime

Hello! 1st of June which means another of my patterned paper playtime sessions. As with the other ones this year I took a piece of patterned paper and went to town with my scissors to cut elements out that I could use on the card.

This one was a pale blue background but still looks lovely fussy cut… and created a lot of pieces for me to play with and very little waste.

I left a few pieces of the paper intact so I could have elements of a the reverse pattern too and I used that in my card too.

I ended up making a 5×7 card as the floral images are quite large. I used Petal Pink for the base as I know that was one of the flower colours. Also night of Navy for the sentiment and the mat for the sentiment.

I raised the main panel up onto foam but the elements off the sides are flat onto the card base.

For the sentiment I embossed some vellum with the word hugs and then sewed it onto the patterned panel. Love how this looks and love the Pale blue sewing to pick out the blue in the paper pieces.

Finished off with some gems for some sparkle.

Inside the card I added a few more cut out pieces to decorate too.

Loved this very girly but quite modern feeling card.

Happy crafting!

Happy for Abbie

My lovely colleague and friend Abbie has a new job and I am delighted for her as much as I am sad that we will no longer be at the same workplace together.

I had to make her a special card though to let her know how happy I am for her.

I started by stamping Delightful Dahlia stamps on cardstock in Versamark and embossing them in white and then plenty of distress oxides and the smooshing technique made a cool background. I also wiped away the excess ink with a piece of glossy photo paper which I ended up using in the card too.

I stamped a few of the smaller flowers for the card too and inked up using the same colour oxides.

I cut down the panel for the background and then got out the Artistic dies as I love the flower cluster one. I cut it from the photo paper and again from white cardstock so I could layer them to give it extra dimension.

Next I created the sentiment. I was inspired by the sentiment in the Delicate Dahlia set but wasn’t keen on the font so instead made my own using lots of other stamp sets and of course the Biggest Wish for that fab Happy part. I added the twine bow and plenty of foam under the sentiment and flower cluster so this is a VERY dimensional card.

I added lilac gems from the stash an a mount of the Blackberry Bliss cardstock. I then stamped (badly) the Dahlia onto the envelope and blended some ink over the corner.

And inside the card a strip of the background I had trimmed off and mounted it on blackberry bliss and added the final small flower.

Love how this came out. I know Abbie will appreciate the love I put into making her card and I hope she knows how much she will be missed.

Best of luck Abbie.

Happy crafting!

DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

I have another one sheet wonder for my DT contribution for this months Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge blog. Think I may be close to the point of switching to Christmas themed ones … but for now I’m still working with pretty floral papers.

This one is a salabration set I got called paper Blooms that coordinates with the In Bloom stamps and Pierced Blooms dies. I love the Pierced Blooms dies so much..

I made 8 cards from this sheet of 12 x 12 … not a large amount but loved using both sides of the dsp so some got 2 panels not just one!

I also made one card as a fancy fold which was fun.

I also mixed up the size of the base cards to suit the sizes I had cut the panels so there were 5×5 cards and 6×4 cards.

I went to town in my box of scraps die cuts using flowers and leaves from a mix of sets…. Wreath Builder, Forever Flourishing, Pierced Blooms … and this is how I decorated them combined with various sentiments. In some like the above I combined stamp sets for the sentiment… Hello from Forever Fern and Friend from Lovely Inside and Out.

I also added either gems to flower centres or wink of Stella and glossy accents just add some extra texture.

Loved creating the little jar of flowers for this one using the Jar of Flowers stamp and then fussy cutting rather than punching the jar. So cute.

Also used the fabulous Happy Celebrations to create the sentiment for this one but then the one below chose the Happy from my fave stamp set of last Christmas, Peace and Joy.

I also loved adding the circles to the cards to create focal areas for the flower clusters to sit on.

So this final one is the fancy fold that my friend Valerie taught me to make.

Love how cool this is and makes a really special card.

Such fun working with these pretty papers and die cuts.

Hope you like them too.

Happy crafting!
