Final advent coins 19-24

Today I have the final advent coins I made. These I made all in one afternoon and chose to make them in pairs to make life easier for myself!

I also used the same old number stamp set to finish them off.

My favourites are definitely the black with white embossing background. Just wish I had used slightly smaller number stamps rather than the large ones. Have to admit these were inspired by the samples Martin made for the Artisan blog hop.

The ones with the text background were also inspired by this blog hop… but by the banner on the card made by Hélène. For both of these the Peace and Joy (My current favourite Christmas stamps ever!) Stamps and dies. I also added a die cut tree scene with the glimmer paper.

Then to contrast I made the more natural ones using the pointsetta die from the Wreath Builder die set. I also added some texture in the background using the Gorgeous Grunge set.

So there you go… my advent coins for this year done… except it’s not exactly true because numpty Catherine sent the first bundle of coins (days 19-21) without a stamp on the parcel … so I had to make more!

These are the ones I made…

This time I went for a different look completely… I went with coins with a stencilled layer of stars and then layers of Fresco finish paints and alchemy paints. Then I chose three different ways to decorate them, but kept to the same colour and number stamps.

I added stamping to each coin using archival ink so each was different.

I used die cuts from the wreath builder dies and some stamped twigs.

I also used some Stamping magazine stamps for the holly and the little winter house. I added sequins for the holly berries and flock for the snowy roof.

Love how different they all came out. Looking forward to next years challenge (we are back to Twinchies and some have been made already! Yup I got organised ahead of time for once!)

Happy crafting!

More scallopped topper tags…

Another set of tags made using old papers and lots of little die cuts…

The papers and cardstock have been in the stash for a long time… Time to get it used.

I decided to use the Wreath Builder flowers and some leaves cut from lots of little scraps.

I then added the sentiments and some gold pen for adding accents and some doodles.

Loved making these cute tags for the Christmas gifts and as most were made using scraps or leftover pieces of paper it felt like an efficient way of doing some Christmas projects!

DT: CHNC: use the word Christmas

Almost at the big day… So time to get those last minute cards made.

Today I have my design team contribution for you for CHNC. Hazel’s challenge for this week was to use the word Christmas… not a challenge given its a Christmas card! Lol!

I used some making cards magazine patterned paper and used Magenta Madness to add a base and create strips on either side of the sentiment panel.

The sentiment panel I used a Claritystamps stamp and Versafine to get a good dark impression on the Soft Sea Foam cardstock. Then I decided to go funky and use my Tim Holtz moose die. I cut him from black twice and then added the extra elements using the leftover bits of magenta madness and soft sea foam.

I finished off with the little merry stamped image embossed onto black cardstock.

Really fun card and not too challenging to put together.

Scalloped Tag Topper punch cuties

This time I went for some cutesy images for these random tags… they were ones that didn’t really get a theme in terms of colour or paper… So instead used an old Stampin Up set called Santa’s Suit to add the focal images.

I mean … Santa in a onesie! And those cute elements of his suit. Super cute!

I added some washi to the long pink one and each one got it’s own personality! Cute!

I still have one more set of tags waiting to be finished so there will be at least one more post with those on before Christmas day! Really need to come up with creative ways to use up more of the paper stash though as really do want to get through more of it so I can justify getting new stash for next Christmas season!

More scalloped tag topper punch fun!

I shared a few post a week or so ago where I had used scraps to create lots of tags … well I have some more to share.

These five were created using a sheet of Making Cards Magazine paper and then my favourites for this year… Peace and Joy!

Again I used scraps to die cut the Joy and then to stamp and fussy cut the little foliage elements. It’s amazing what you can use little strips to create!

I then stuck them all down adding the berries as the finishing touches, wish gold sparkly washi tape for the trim!

DT: CHNC: use the word Merry

I think word dies have become my thing this past 6 months and so when I saw the challenge for CHNC was to use the word Merry I grabbed the sizzix Tim Holtz dies and die cut the word Merry. But then I went to town using patterned paper and paper piecing to create the background for the card.

I chose papers from an old Making Cards magazine set and embossed the image onto three of them. I then layered up the images using the turquoise and blue as the main colours for the image, leaving the red to the background. Sort of a funky reverse type colour scheme.

I then layered up the panel with the two other colours of paper. I added the ribbon to add some different texture and then added the die cut on top.

I finished off the card with the Peace and Joy stamped image embossed onto the red cardstock with the panel of blue to add a frame.

Super happy with how this came out… a bit of a labour of love to cut out the little pieces but at least the shapes were easy to work with.

DT: CHNC: quick and easy

Quick and easy cards for me are ones where the paper does all the work and you just need a finishing touch like a die cut! So this week Hazel asked us to do a quick and easy card for the CHNC challenge.

I chose three papers from the stash, one of which had a focal image I could use.

I cut down the papers to make some strips and then the focal piece into a rectangle with another piece as a mount. Helped that they were double sided papers so they coordinated perfectly.

I used a kraft card blank and then finished off with the gold leaves I’d die cut for another project and not used and then the Joy I’d stamped and die cut again for another project but not ended up using.

I added in the crumb cake sprigs too … again leftovers from another project!

So a simple, fast and effective card.

Scalloped Tag Topper punch part 2

Hello again… more tags to share with you today.

This time I went for peach coloured tags, and randomly one navy one! This time I used some American crafts papers for this bunch and added bits and pieces from the tin of leftovers. This is where I die cut or stamp elements for a project and don’t end up using them all so I pop them in a tin for use another day. This is where I had a few sprigs and a few Peace and Joy stamped/ die cut and layered together already!

So I layered and added bits of ribbon and cardstock and sentiments and called them done!

The next set of tags I have to share are completely different in their look… cute and modern and fun!

These ones I used one of my favourite ever Making Cards magazine sets with the winter friends images. I added the Nordic jumper background as the paper and then did some simple colouring using promarkers to the printed images.

As the tags were black I then chose to emboss the sentiments onto the black using either white or silver embossing powder. Again scraps of ribbon to finish off!

Tomorrow I’ll have some more fun tags to share with you!

Happy crafting!

Scalloped Tag Topper punch fun

Today I’m starting off a series of blogs using the Tag Topper punch to create sweet little tags from scraps of cardstock and papers from the stash. Perfect for adhering to presents for this Christmas!

I started with a big pile of scraps and sorted through to find pieces that were 2″ wide, or slightly larger that I could trim down. I’m a bit of a bugger for keeping tiny bits of cardstock but I was determined not to just hoard and get them put to good use.

There were a few different colours of cardstock and I made the tags using whatever lengths I had, they are far from uniform but the beauty is I was wanting them all to be individual anyway.

For this set of soft sea foam tags I used some die cuts I had in the stash to add the little sprigs. Again I’ve been trying to use up little pieces of cardstock die cutting little elements and storing them so they are ready to use.

The paper I had added is from an old Making Cards magazine… I used up lots of leftover bits on these tag projects as I’m determined to get through the massive stash!

Most of the sentiments I used are Paperartsy ones, but also added in the Peace and Joy stamps.

I then raided the ribbon and twine stash to add to the top of the tags.

Will be back another day with more of the tags I created!

Happy crafting!

Stampin Up Sunday: Peace and Joy postcard

Hello! Happy Sunday everyone!

Today I had another play with the Peace and Joy stamp and die set, this time to create a postcard for the UK stampers forum swap. It is similar in theme to the tag I made and shared a few weeks ago.

I actually did start making this at the same time using my favourite technique… mop up! I used glossy photo paper to mop up the watery distress oxides… this creates an awesome and very quick and easy background! When you polish away the oxidisation element it stains the glossy paper and gives a lovely marble effect.

Then I added the stamping … again this stains the paper and leaves it still shiny! I created the stamping in a circle around where I knew I would place the die cut. I think this is the first project I’ve used the “star” stamp… love how funky it looks… need to use that again!

Next I added the die cut…

… and the little sentiment strips. Then I added the panel to the black cardstock postcard.

Love this shiny postcard. Nice and seasonal and another way of using the fabulous Peace and Joy stamp and die set! Just love this set!

Happy crafting!
