DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes Birthday challenge

Good morning (or evening depending on what time it is where you are right now!!)

Time for another Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes Birthday challenge design team contribution to share with you.

This one came from looking at a little pile of scraps of coloured cardstock …

I decided to make all the strips 3\4 of an inch wide and then cover a panel that was 2″ wide… this made the central panel for my card.

Then I grabbed all the leftover paper I had from True Love dsp with this kind of flower on it. I fussy cut them all out so there were lots of flowers to surround the sentiment and the colourful panel. Then I added them all.

All of the flowers were ‘edge’ pieces but this kind of design is perfect as just just tuck them behind and create layers.

I also added in some black die cut pieces from the Splendid Stems set as this works perfectly to add in a bit of contrast without overwhelming.

I then added a cluster of the dsp and cardstock around the sentiment … for which I used both the Picture Perfect sentiment and the Biggest Wish for the bigger Happy.

I then found some cute gems in the stash and added those around the card for some bling!

I’m a little sad I actually covered up most of the strip panel with the mixed colours but still love the final effect on the card of the pop of colour.

Happy crafting!

Keeping it simple

Hello!

Some days I just want to keep my crafting simple by taking pieces of patterned paper, cutting them up and making them the main part of the card … and this is what happened with this.

I just took some Indigo Blu paper and fussy cut the butterflies using the number paint splatter background as a panel and mounted it on Soft Suede cardstock. I did add some dimension underneath the Biggest butterfly and also the sentiment. And then added gems. To step up the cars a little I did a peeking bit of the paper top left and curled the cardstock back.

But otherwise simple and pretty using one a4 piece of Indigo blu paper and a stamped sentiment. Jobs a good’un!

DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge

Another design team contribution to share with you today. Once again this is for Happy Little Stampers. This is a card I’ve had all the bits and pieces hanging around for ages but only just managed to put it together into a card… and made it a special one too!

So it started with the cover die panel which I die cut for a project back in March which left me with some bits left over I didn’t want to waste so I made up this panel. Now it is really difficult to tell on the picture but the little individual pieces are all different heights as I added extra layers to some of them as I stuck them in. This adds extra texture but doesn’t show at all in the picture!

I still had a large piece of the paper that was perfect for using as a background on this 7×7 card. I then added the flourish die cuts and a butterfly to become the focal point. I also added the die cut sentiment and some linen thread to add texture.

I added wink of Stella and glossy accents to the Butterfly too.

Inside the card I added a couple of strips of the patterned paper and a stamped sentiment with little added stamped details. This then became a card for my auntie’s birthday.

Super happy that I finally used these pieces and love what I created.

Happy crafting!

Happy Birthday Dad

Frustratingly my Dad’s birthday is always very close to Fathers Day and so I always try to make a completely different style of card for his birthday than I made for Fathers Day. Fathers day this year was all wood and brown elements… so for his birthday I went bright and colourful with dramatic black elements instead!

I found this very old dsp lurking in my box of papers and I am trying really hard to use up old stash when I find it… so the paper with candles and the yellow is from the same sheet of 12×12 (the joys of double sided dsp) but I had no other papers from whatever set it was from so decided to add in pieces of the 6×6 Oh So Ombre I had left in my stash too.

I decided to pick up on the black in the candle paper to add some black elements… the stamped Dad, the die cut stars and the die cut Happy.

The Birthday and the candles though I wanted bright and cheery so did those in Daffodil yellow… in fact I also heat embossed in clear over the yellow for the birthday so it also had some shine!

I cut panels of the paper, mounted the main central panel and then stuck everything down, raising the central panel a little for dimension.

The stars I added wink of Stella to so they had lots of shimmer.

Inside the card I cut some banners and added more die cut stars but smaller this time and then added the sentiment with heat embossing.

The envelope I used up some of the pieces of paper I had left to layer some banners and that was my card finished!

Definitely a very different style to his fathers day card… and very cheerful for his birthday!

Now having a contrasting card became even more important as I’ve not been able to give him either card yet and will be giving them both on Sunday as a result of delaying our plans thanks to C19. Ah well at least we are all on the mend now and just me to get a negative test result… Fingers crossed for tomorrow!

Happy birthday Dad!

DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

Hello readers. Hope you are well. It is the first of the month and so it is time to play with patterned paper again for my design team contribution for Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge.

At the beginning of the year I decided to get a bit organised and have put aside specific papers from the old Making Cards magazine stash. I had too many still hanging around so have decided to just get things made… and to decrease the decision making I’ve put specific papers aside for each month… let’s see how that goes shall we?

This month it was these delicate floral papers and images.

Once again I created two cards… both with one piece of the patterned paper and two of the focal images.

I used a die I have had for a long time and rarely used which is a cover die that cits out lots of little rectangles and squares.

I die cut it from both the patterned paper and some lilac cardstock and created the backgrounds in reverse.

I love this two in one effect and may well use it again to create some more from this set of papers before the end of the month if I get a chance. I then created the toppers using different dies from the stash, including the flourish dies from Crafters Companion.

I also added a piece of the lace as an added texture underneath the focal images.

I finished with sentiments from Picture Perfect Birthday which I die cut and some pretty lilac sequins

I also added banner strips to the envelope fronts and the inside of the cards. I also added some more flourish die cuts and a sentiment to each of them inside.

Really pretty finished cards. Love the texture and the die cut elements.

Happy crafting!

DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge

Hello! How is it already the 8th of the month? Well that means it is a design contribution day for Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge blog.

I am actually a little ahead of time for this as James’s birthday isn’t until the 13th but he is very unlikely so be following my blog so should be fine! Lol!

I started with the star cover die which I forgot I owned until I had a sort out of my dies box and when I saw it I knew I had to use it immediately!

I cut it from white cardstock and then played with my distress inks to create a splotchy effect in greens and blues.

Then I mounted it onto black cardstock.

Next I added a panel across the front and stamped the Biggest Wish stamps. I then die cut using the Tidings and Trimmings set the black and white star shapes.

Then I die cut James from black 4 times and stacked them up to create some dimension to his name and added those.

I added the panel to a Pacific Point 5.5×5.5 size card blank.

Inside I added a strip of black and added the white stars down the strip as embellishment. Then stamped and embossed the sentiment from Picture Perfect Birthday.

The envelope I added some faint stencilling using a Star stencil from the stash.

Hopefully James will like his star themed card when he gets it in a few days… until then… if you know James don’t show him this blog! 🤣🤣🤣

DT: Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge

Happy new year! Let’s hope 2022 is kind to us all!

I’ve kept on with my DT contributions for Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge and decided this year to get a bit organised and have put aside specific papers from the old Making Cards magazine stash. I had too many still hanging around so have decided to just get things made… and to decrease the decision making I’ve put specific papers aside for each month… let’s see how that goes shall we?

So for January I have some stylish fashion images and black and white papers to play with.

And I grabbed the sewing machine and made two cards.

I even decorated the inside and the envelopes.

I teamed the images and papers with purple and cerise cardstock and black too of course and added some die cut stars as embellishments.

I love all the sewn details. I think it works well with the focal images.

Sentiments were from a range of sets including Artistically Inked, Biggest Wish, Tidings and Trimmings and Picture Perfect Birthday.

Inside the card I added a scrap of the paper and another star and a sentiment.

The envelopes I used a strip of paper across the front just to add some fun!

Hope you pop along to Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge blog and join in yourself. I bet I am not the only one with a stack of paper to be used! This year I am determined not to buy any new. I have too much already going unused. Wonder if I will stick to it or not?

Biggest Wish, Picture perfect birthday, Pierced Blooms, Seasonal Labels Dies

DT: Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge

Hi

So I decided to make another 16th birthday card as there are quite a few ‘sweet 16’s’ to celebrate this year. And as I used a fair few dies it was perfect to use as this months DT contribution for the Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies challenge.

I decided to start with the stamping on the right hand side… no idea where I was going with this but I had woke up with the idea so decided to go with it! And of course it is one of my favourite sets to use … Biggest Wish.

Next I added strips of rose gold washi tape and the panel of the stripey dsp.

I decided to go for a large label panel so grabbed the Seasonal Labels die and cut one in the rose gold cardstock and one from black, and then trimmed the black one down top and bottom so it was a stripe across the label.

Next I embossed the sentiment from an old set (Picture Perfect Birthday) and

I then grabbed the Pierced Blooms dies and used scraps of different pink and peach coloured cardstock to cut flowers and the Soft Sea Foam for the leaves.

I raised the label panel up on foam and then created the flower clusters and dotted a few small ones around.

I finished off with the number stickers and some sparkly gems for the obligatory bling.

Really happy with this. Slightly wishing I had used a different colour for the Happy stamping at the beginning and that it had been more pink rather than Calypso Coral but I still think it works together.

Happy crafting!

Happy birthday Michelle

A bit of a run on birthday cards this week… this time it was for my friend Michelle.

I decided to use the Butterfly Brilliance stamp which I don’t use nearly enough.

I used some Polished Pink cardstock and embossed the butterflies using white powder. I then added ink in Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo using the blending sponge to add some extra definition and an ombre look to the card stock. I tore one side and then mounted it onto the rose gold cardstock which I also tore down one edge.

I embossed the Happy from the Biggest Wish stamp set. Next I added some strips of green and yellow cardstock from the stash.

I added the birthday stamp from Artistically Inked to one and punched with the banner punch. I then used the same cardstock I die cut the little butterflies.

Inside I added a strip of the embossed cardstock I had cut off the front panel and punched it into a banner. I also added the remaining butterflies and stamped the sentiment from the retired Picture Perfect Birthday stamp set.

Love how this came together.

Artistically Inked, Biggest Wish, Expressions in Ink, Picture perfect birthday

Happy birthday Mum

I made a swing fold card for my Mum’s birthday which we celebrated yesterday using the Expressions in Ink suite.

I love this paper and the effect the stamps create plus the die cut leaves I adore… although only used a tiny amount of this time.

I decided to use kraft card blanks as the base and I die cut the opening using the largest of the stitched shapes square dies.

Once I had sorted out the mechanism I then sorted out covering the panels with the paper and the central swing piece too.

Next it was time to get stamping. I used the Pale Papaya and the Pear Pizazz inks and stamped lots of the middle sized flower and small circular piece and the leaves and then die cut them out.

Next I stamped the sentiment in the Pear Pizazz and the Birthday from Biggest Wish I embossed in gold. I then fussy cut each letter carefully.

I also die cut the leaves from the piece of kraft I had cut out for the mechanism and from white I cut the floral piece.

I then started assembling.

I cut up the white floral piece so I could have a few white leaves on the central panel, then the rest of it I used on the envelope along with a strip of the paper.

I added a stamped and mat and layered sentiment in the middle panel and created one (not shown) for the final panel to add my message to Mum.

The sentiment is from the Picture Perfecy Birthday set.

I finished off with some of the gold glitter gems to add some more sparkle.

A really special card for my Mum!

Happy crafting!
