Awake at silly o’clock so thought I would blog something I did a few days ago… More scrapping! Playing with old kits to come up with a scrap page is fun. I have no memory of the layouts the kits were meant to make so just made it up!
So the paper and journaling tag were in the kit but I added… The cardstock for the base, the stencil king using a clarity brush, the stamping using the Ellen Vargo stamps, the stars using Simply Stars, the buttons and the title.
Lots of fun!
Firstly I have to share this news… In February my blog was visited by over 200 people… Wowsers! Thanks everyone! I think it might be because I actually shared some of my work via challenges etc, but still… As I don’t know 200 people i am a little stunned! It is spurring my to keep doing what I am doing … Creating and crafting because I want to and not to meet some other need… This seems to be the key to success!
Now what have I got for you today… This card was made for my cousins son for his 6th birthday several weeks ago… But being as rubbish as I am at posting things or getting these cards to the recipients in time for the birthday I am only sharing it now as he has only just received it!
So without further ado… Here it is!
I used lots of things to make it… Simply Stars stamps, Make a Monster stamps, little banners from Henry Says stamps, Itty Bitty banners, some gems, painted cardstock and of course some googlie eyes!
So all the red and blue cardstock was white card that I painted to give a nice texture, then everything was either stamped on plain white or on the painted cardstock. I added the monsters onto some acetate strips to get them to float.
I love using the Simply Stars stamps to create a fun and bright card. Perfect for kids! This card was made for a friends daughters birthday. Kept it simple and just chose a range of pink and purple inks to create the card!
Added some gems for the sparkle and added dimension for the main star with the sentiment tucked underneath.
Well flippin’ ‘eck ! The card I made for the father in law never turned up in the post so this afternoon when he was distracted in the garden with the princess I popped into the craft room to make this …
Paper was the paper I used to wipe off the stencil from making the original card, and added the World Map stamp image and a number stamp from Kaisercraft in Midnight Muse and some inking. Then I stamped the Simply Stars onto Whisper white in the gorgeous Tangerine Tango, midnight muse & Gumball green. I mounted the piece onto a piece of orange DSP I had to hand and a piece of Sahara Sand. Then stamped the happy birthday from Itty Bitty Banners onto a scrap of Sahara Sand.
Then I did a bit of stamping on the inside of the card and on the envelope to finish it off… Not bad for a thirty minute make from scraps! Obviously the desk is a complete mess now but hey I couldn’t have him not having a card from us!
Oops! I never got to do Moments and Memories in May so thought it would be a good idea to catch up on it now!
This is the sketch that I’ve been playing with this year with the intention of doing one a month… So this might be five weeks late but getting there! Haha!
This is how I laid it out before leaving it a little while to decide if I am happy with it and think about any additional bits I might want to add!
As you can see I have tilted the bottom layer and spent time matting and layering the feature photo. The Mickey paper I found in a sale… Perfect for a little touch of magic for the Disney photos!!! I teamed it with a bit of Polka Dot Parade in Pumpkin Pie and then the Basic Grey & Whisper White cardstock.
I thought that star was a good title for the page and also that both the That’s the Ticket and the Simply Stars stamped elements made good embellishments. I also stamped and punched a few little banners for underneath the Mickey Mouse label too.
After a few hours away from the craft table it was time to put this one together but felt it needed grounding a little so I inked everything up! And then stuck it down… I managed to create a pocket behind the photo to stick some little journaling tags in, but otherwise kept it similar to the original layout.
The finishing touches was of course a bit of bling!
So that is May up to date… Just need to get June’s page done now!
Thursday comes round so quickly doesn’t it!!!
This week is colour scheme week!!!
Here goes …
I love blue … It really is my favourite colour!!!
I created this page whilst at a crop my friend Helen runs in January but never got round to posting it. I did however think it was perfect for this challenge as I used Marina Mist as the base colour for the page. The great thing about going to Helen’s crop is that I get to try out some new stamp sets I haven’t bought yet… Of course this usually means I then need the stamp sets I try! In fact the use of both Tape It and Banner blast did result in ordering them that very afternoon I loved them so much on this layout.
Helen had quite a few alpha stamp sets available too. Now these are a considered purchase so didn’t make it onto the order list for this month … But I have to admit I love these alphas so I might have to consider them for a future order!
I did use some of my things though!!! The fab Simply Stars stamps, and some papers and stickers I got especially for the disney scrapping! It is from Simple Stories and is called Say cheese and has Mickey themed stickers to go with the papers. I love it! I teamed the Cherry cobbler and Basic Grey cardstock and coloured ink with the paper.
The layout I based on this page I pinned on Pinterest and then drew the sketch from.
Hope you like what I did with the page.
