Happy birthday Kaspa!

Today is the birthday of one of the princess’ friend, Kaspa. So of course I had to make a fun birthday card!

I decided on some Simply Stars images, some chevron ribbon and the funky paper from the Summer Smooches DSP teamed with some black and the Four frames set to create this little lovely!

Happy crafting!

Colour my Monday! Early Espresso!

Happy Monday people! Today is an especially happy Monday … Because today is my birthday! Whoop whoop whoop!

Ok after all that whooping I need coffee …

Alright alright … I know this is probably one of the least coloured colours I could have chosen for my birthday … But I do like using Early Espresso as a good basis for cream coloured not white coloured projects! And this is one of those types of projects!

I started with a cream card blank 6×6 size, and stamped the positively chevron background stamp along the left hand side in Crumb cake. Then took some kraft coloured paper and stamped World Map in Early Espresso and edged the piece with some of the same ink. Next I took another piece of Kraft paper and stamped the Positively Chevron stamp again, this time in Soft Suede and again edged the piece. I then used part of a doily (my go to accessory of the moment!) that was sitting on my desk at the time and added that to the smaller piece. I then brushed over it with my very expensive … Ha ha ha… Shaving foam brush. This gives a very subtle amount of colour to the doily and is gentle so it doesn’t tear.

Then for the feature image. I stamped directly onto the doily using the Early Espresso ink and the Summer Silhouettes stamps. I added the stems for the flowers in Soft Suede and stamped the blooms themselves onto the kraft paper and cut them out. The kraft paper absorbed the ink very differently to the doily giving the Early Espresso a different look! The flowers I raised on dimensionals.

Then I stamped a little centre to the flowers using gold pigment ink. I used the same kraft paper to create the sentiment topper. I used the happy birthday from Stacks of Wishes and my favourite punch for adding sentiments; Word Window. I also added a knot of the linen thread and some pearl embellishments to finish it off!

Love how this looks. Elegant but earthy!

I also remembered to decorate the envelope too!

I masked an area off to write in and brushed some ink out from the centre. I stamped the leaves in a mixture of Early Espresso & Soft Suede. Then removed the mask and stamped the blooms. Then I took a Stampin write marker and added wiggly lines to outline the area I had masked.

Love the combination of the card and envelope … Makes it a lovely and special card to send through the post!

Happy crafting!
