Snap swap… artful ATC group!

As our ATC swap group had completed September early …. some of us joined up for a quick no theme swap of one ATC. This is mine.
Fresco finish paints and book print and Tap Tap Tap SU stamps. I then added some texture paste through a Donna Downey stencil and then finished off with dots of enamel accents.

Happy crafting!

Updated page

A quick post tonight to show the final page I shared yesterday with some tweaks.  I knew I wasn’t happy with it so when I got into the craft room today I knew I wanted to do something….

I added some pen doodles and white paint pen doodles to the die cut shapes and then to some of the stencilling.  Then I added some black gesso in some splodgy stripes and few flicks. I also added some stamping using the letter stamp from the Tap Tap Tap SU set.

Much happier with this now.

Happy crafting!

Catching up in my Paperartsy journal

I’ve been a little delayed in keeping up with the Paperartsy challenges but finally caught up this weekend.

Tonight I am sharing the ‘our house’ themed page.  I struggled with this but got there eventually.

image

The background is scrap bits of paper and cardstock off the desk glued down and then gesso over the top. Then I added texture paste through a brick wall stencil across the bottom. And then the word dream across the top.

Once it was dry I added distress stains with ground espresso at the bottom, abandoned coral over the dream and then Mermaid Lagoon for the left hand side. I let it drip for a bit and settle in places and then patted it dry to keep a more subtle colour.

Then I got stuck.

I finally settled on some art journey stamps which are Dutch houses… always a favourite place of mine… and stamped these onto tissue paper and then adhered them along the bottom. As usual I was slightly heavy handed in places but mainly they were ok.

I finished off the page with some random stamping using Tap Tap Tap stamps and Timeless Textures and the word stamps from the art journey set.

Pleased with the end result on this… Finally got there!

Dictionary, Masks/Stencils, Tap tap tap, Use them or Lose them

Use them or lose them #12, project #2

This week I have been playing with the  Dictionary background stamp.  On Sunday I shared a journal page where I had used the stamp three times.  Here I have a set of cards using the stamp to its full effect as a background stamp.

image

I picked out some dsp with a subtle grey circle pattern and onto this I stamped the entire stamp using a grey ink.  I then cut the panel out so there was just a small border. Then I used the Clarity bubbles stencil to add the circles in Lost Lagoon and Bermuda Bay.   I then edged the panel with the grey.  I mounted this on a piece of striped dsp in the same subtle grey but edged this with the stencil brushes and the coloured ink as well as the grey ink.

image

One I made much darker than the other.
For the focal point I added the typewriter from Tap Tap Tap set using a Versamark ink and black embossing detail powder.  I also stamped it again on white paper so I could cut out the sheet of paper as a piece of contrast for the typing to show up on.  I then used the tap stamp to do the border.

Love how these came out.  Perfect partners these two stamp sets.  Love them both.  They are not going anywhere!

Use them or lose them #7 Tap tap tap

A day late with this as the decorating took over… but last night managed to get into the craft room and do some creating… sooooooooooooooooooooo. …

So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!

This week I have been trying to use a new to me set… Tap Tap Tap… This is my second pair of cards made with the set.

Again I used bits and pieces from the desk that were leftovers from another project with a little bit of Whisper White.

I couldn’t resist some stencilling and splattering of paint though (I was in an art journal frame of mind and wanted to splatter paint after the precision of painting walls!).

Love this set of stamps and will be using them lots so they are for keeps!

Tap tap tap, Use them or Lose them

Use them or lose them #7 Tap tap tap

So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!

This is actually a new set I am trialling for the first time and I already can tell that this is for keeps! I can see me using a couple of the stamps quite often when art journalling, never mind it making some cool cards.

I started with some scraps from the desk… If I keep this on the desk I tend to use them!

I kept both cards similar… Stamped on the card blank to provide the border down the right hand side. Stamped in soft sky to get a faint alphabet on the middle panel and then stamped and cut out the typewriter.  I then added a little watercolour to it to give it some colour.

The envelope I kept quite simple just stamping the alphabet out again in the soft sky.

This is defintely a keeper!  No loser here!

Happy crafting!

Guess what I’ve been using this past couple of weeks a lot…. patterned paper! So this is also being entered in the Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge.
