Mini marvels tag book

Chris challenged us to use tickets and tags in some way as a journalling project. I slightly veered off the brief as it was meant to be expandable, but mine is just a little book…. But I used tags on every page so I think it’s close enough to the brief!

I decided to make the whole thing using gelli prints, and stash from the box of bits I have that included some preprinted quotes and some random bits of stash. So no new bits were really used. I also only used 1 stamp throughout which was the ticket stamp… very rare for me, but there was so much pattern going on with the gelli prints there was no need to add much more!

So here is a little video flip through… and then I have detailed pics later..

I started by having a good time gelli printing… mostly onto bookprint, but also some random scraps of paper too.

This gave me enough to cover the pages of the little journal signature and some tags from the stash…

Next I set to with 4 posca pens, an grey Pitt pen and some ink for edging and adding colour (black soot distress ink, black archival ink, peacock feathers distress oxide) and some scraps of book print or cream card and made each page up. I did each page as an individual page so although the patterns and colours repeat across the journal, each page has its own identity.

Super happy with this little project. Each page is 5×5 inches so similar to card front size I usually work on but nice to create with no specific aim and get a bit grungey!

Was also good to use some bits up I’ve had in a box for ages… the box however is still very full! Maybe I need to do more projects where I restrict myself to using stuff from the stash boxes and I might actually get them used up!

So that’s my project I’ve been making this Easter weekend whilst staying home. I am very glad my mojo came out to play and distract me. My anxiety has been kept at bay as I’ve avoided the news for 2 whole days! Now to eat some chocolate!

Happy crafting! And happy Easter!

Art Journal page for me!

Another Art journaling page in my Dylusions journal just for me, with no pressure, love it!

I started with sticking things on the page that had been randomly on my desk either as left over bits from other projects or things I’d not got around to using yet.

This included the stamped flower on the left hand side, a piece of sewing pattern instruction, a stamped tag and the gelli printed circle.

I think the page also had some wipe off from another project on it as the gelatos had some different reactions in a few areas.

So I added gelato to the page with the exception of the flower panel that had already been coloured. I think it was distress inks used on that.

Next I added the iridescent texture paste through a stencil to the right hand side of the page and left it to dry.

I then added stamping using some different stamps… Gorgeous grunge, that’s the ticket etc. I also added some splashes of green acrylic ink and copper acrylic ink.

Next I worked on the flower that I stamped from a Creative Stamping magazine and coloured using promarkers to create a soft, no line effect. I fussy cut it out but decided it needed something between it and the background.

I had a hunt in my stash and found these stickers that I think were meant for scrapbooking.

After adding them and the flowers it was time to add doodling and the sentiment stickers. I also found the orange gems in my stash and stuck them down too.

I decided the flower on the left needed pushing back so added some gesso using my fingers and blending it on that panel and a few other spots.

I also took the Twisted citron distress oxide and did a little bit of stamping to add a little lime green onto the page too.

Once again it was fun to create with no pressure of time or finished product. The photos in the daylight show it off so much better… shame most of my crafting is done in the evening so I don’t enjoy the cokours quite as much when creating… maybe I need to invest in a proper daylight lamp?!?

Happy crafting!

Hearts and layers coin swap

Hello!

Today I am sharing four coins that I made for a swap where the theme was hearts and layers… so yes it needed to have layers and feature hearts!

I started by stamping and masking and stamping some backgrounds onto some thick cardstock. I used Darcy stamps from Paperartsy for all the hearts as I love the different types of hearts she designed. I stamped the word hearts in memento and the circle hearts in Candied Apple distress ink.

I had loosely drawn around some coins so I knew how much to cover of the cardstock I was using.

Next I started colouring them in… promarkers for the word hearts…

… and the background…

Once these were finished I cut them out and added some embossing using a different heart themed stamp from Darcy’s collection. These I clear embossed to give texture to the coins.

Next up was to do some layers and focal images… I chose to use scraps of this fabulous textural wallpaper and then another Darcy heart which I embossed and then coloured using the shimmery watercolours in shades of pink and grey.

I love how shimmery and shiny these are. I also edged the coins in Black to frame them.

Next I added the embellishments… a shrink plastic ticket I stamped and cut out, a gemstone and some stamped words from another Darcy stamp set.

Ok now to show the real colours in daylight and not just the orange look they get under the desk lamp…

Love how they came out!

So these are my coins for the swap… I think there were enough layers and enough hearts to satisfy the conditions of the swap! Hopefully Janet who I made them for loved them too!

Colour my Monday! Pacific Point

20130919-190222.jpg

Happy Monday everyone! Hope it’s a good one for you … And if not let’s get some BRIGHT colour into it to cheer it up!

20130919-190312.jpg

In fact I went very BRIGHT with this one!

I ended up using the fabulous Dylusions ink and masks to create a bright piece of paper. I inked the edge with the Pacific Point. Then on a separate piece of card I stamped a bike, some tickets and the Itty Bitty Banner sentiments in a mix of thePacific Point & Midnight. Muse inks.

20140706-214051-78051204.jpg

A little bit of linen thread and some gold card stock to mount it. Then I made a 6×6 card blank with the Midnight Muse cardstock.

Inside the card I put an insert to which I decorated one corned, and then went mad with the inks again on the envelope.

Thursday treasures! Photo prompt

Straight to the quick this week…

IMG_7259.JPG

When I saw this picture I knew it was a perfect prompt for Thursday Treasures! But how to use it to get me started?

Well after a bit of pondering, I looked through the pile of projects half done, and found a page I had started in early August at Helen’s class which was for a photo of the princess at the beach creating her name out of pebbles…. Perfect!

IMG_7243.JPG

Loved the way Helen did this layout, but have to admit I struggled with the journalling with the tickets being small. But still a fun and arty page!

Cataloguing my Promarkers! Just the ticket! Woyww!

Hi there … It’s WOYWW! It’s been a little while since I joined in the fun of sharing the work space … But thought I would share today! I was actually not working on the actual desk, but instead back on the table in the family room as I had children playing in the garden at the time, and needed to be downstairs! So I grabbed an easy project …

Hot on the heels of my book of elephants, my distressed butterflies and families of flowers, I next tackled the box of Promarkers! It was spurred on by the purchase of a new set of Limited Edition Promarkers on offer for ¬£10 in Hobbycraft … For 12 Promarkers and a blender pen! Amazing value and of course just HAD to have them!

First thing I do with new pens is test them out on a sheet of whisper white as I never think the colour on the outside does them any justice! And inspired by that little sweep of colour I did I decided to dedicate a couple of hours to the joy that is coloring in!!!

So here is a little round up of activities…

20140710-224412-81852276.jpg

1. Stamped one of the ticket stamps in That’s the Ticket stamp set a gazillion times onto strips of Whisper White.
2. Added a sweep of colour across each one, and wrote in the name and any identifying ink number on the little ticket lines.
3. punched them all out and tried to put them into colour groups. Then spent an age going through the official promarker list of colours and then adding in the Limited Edition ones where they seemed to fit (in my eyes).
4. Lined up all the punched tickets… Don’t they look fab?

20140710-224656-82016040.jpg

5. In an A5 Sketch ring bound sketch book, I added in some pencil lines to keep them straight, and then glued them in in pairs in order.

20140710-224812-82092274.jpg

6. As the greys page only had 6 tickets on it … I decided on a colorful piece of artwork … This is actually the front page of the sketch book so it seemed a suitable opening page. With hindsight probably would have been better at the top of the page … Ah well never mind! Used on of the Darcy Paperartsy stamps and plenty of masking to get many many colorful hearts one on top of the other!

7. As a finishing touch for each page I wanted it to have a border of some kind, so I drew some intertwining swirls to create segments in which I added the colours from the page in a graduated type effect. As I had done border in a slightly different place on each page working towards the edge of the page on the last one, I was able to cut along the border for each page, so you can see the lower pages peeping out… Here you are…

I know there are a zillion other Promarkers colours, but it have decided enough is enough for me. I don’t use them often enough to justify any more, and the box I store them in is now completely and utterly filled to the brim… There isn’t even room for the blender pen in there! But I have to say I really enjoyed making these pages, although maybe the amount of fumes from the pens was making me a little high! Ha! I love colour and I loved the therapeutic nature of doing this… And can you believe it I didn’t make one mistake! Amazing!

Anyways … Next week will take pics back at my usual crafting space… Off to nosey at other peoples desks and projects now!

Happy crafting!

Can’t see the wood for the trees

Tonight I was meant to be hosting class at my house. Unfortunately due to my head and crappy depression I have had to cancel but thought as the blog post was already written to share what we were meant to be doing…

I decided to make use of some of the many tree stamps I have… But for once not Lovely as a Tree. The whole idea is that although I have designed the four cards below, people can choose whichever trees they want for their cards from the many on offer. It should be fun to see what people come up with from the materials on hand.

20140715-170530-61530319.jpg
This makes use of paper piecing using the Print Poetry DSP stack from last year and the fun Unity Bella stamp. Love this technique, even if my lines did go a bit wonky!

20140715-170659-61619084.jpg
A brayered background and a silhouette stamp are always a good combination… And the addition of the sentiment from Henry Says punched out of the ticket makes this a bit of a masculine card.

20140715-170818-61698739.jpg
A Dylusions background with a stencil design and then a freebie stamp from a magazine make this card a bit different.

20140715-170916-61756042.jpg
Some leaves from the French Foliage stamp set finish off this Clarity split tree stamped image perfectly.

Love using different stamps and creating four very different looks for this tree card class… Looking forward to seeing what others create! Hoping to rearrange to have the class next week instead!

Inky birthday time!

Yesterday it was my father in laws 80th birthday… So that required a special card. But 80th birthdays and male cards are not my thing so instead I went all funky with his card!

I used the fab Dylusions ink sprays and some distress inks and a fabulous mask to create the background. I used the Off the Grid stamp and then a clock stamp from a random set I have and embossed it in a mixture of green and blues.

Then with plenty of inking around the edges I mounted it onto Midnight muse. Then I took another piece of white cardstock and stamped Hardwood in some midnight muse which I stamped off and added more distress ink to the edge with my sponge. This was the bottom mount for the card topper.

Then I took some Sahara Sand cardstock and stamped the hardwood stamp and stamped it in Crumb cake and cut out the banner shape. Then some of the fab chevron ribbon in Chocolate Chip (I think) and some bakers twine and created the little embellishment. I added a clock charm … I have a few of these (I have a plan for them!) and I added this to the banner.

Then it was time to add the sentiment so I stamped a couple of tickets… One with the Henry says birthday sentiment, and the other one of the tickets from That’s the ticket set.

Raised the whole topper onto dimensionals and added it to a white 8×8 card blank.

20140617-222900-80940020.jpg

Then did the envelope too… A little inking around the edge and some more cog inking using the mask and Distress Inks.

Hopefully he liked the card I made. He should have received it yesterday and on Sunday we celebrate with him properly!

Moments and memories catch up … May very late!

Oops! I never got to do Moments and Memories in May so thought it would be a good idea to catch up on it now!

20140608-180834-65314785.jpg

This is the sketch that I’ve been playing with this year with the intention of doing one a month… So this might be five weeks late but getting there! Haha!

This is how I laid it out before leaving it a little while to decide if I am happy with it and think about any additional bits I might want to add!

20140608-181017-65417828.jpg

As you can see I have tilted the bottom layer and spent time matting and layering the feature photo. The Mickey paper I found in a sale… Perfect for a little touch of magic for the Disney photos!!! I teamed it with a bit of Polka Dot Parade in Pumpkin Pie and then the Basic Grey & Whisper White cardstock.

I thought that star was a good title for the page and also that both the That’s the Ticket and the Simply Stars stamped elements made good embellishments. I also stamped and punched a few little banners for underneath the Mickey Mouse label too.

After a few hours away from the craft table it was time to put this one together but felt it needed grounding a little so I inked everything up! And then stuck it down… I managed to create a pocket behind the photo to stick some little journaling tags in, but otherwise kept it similar to the original layout.

20140608-205211-75131741.jpg

The finishing touches was of course a bit of bling!

So that is May up to date… Just need to get June’s page done now!

Happy crafting!
