Random ATC catch ups… 271-275

Here are some ATCs I made using different techniques and bits and pieces off the desk…. I filmed what I was upto… And originally this was for a swap but I missed the deadline for joining in… ah well never mind! Still 5 more in the bag for my 365 challenge!

This first one is a distress oxide background and watercolouring.

Next up…. distress ink on gesso and some embossing…

Then there is … A doodles background and then a die cut to finish off.

And then a painted background and some magazine collage.

And finally … lots of texture and an inky coloured flower stamp.

So five very different pieces of art and another five for the challenge.

Happy crafting!

For ATC’S sake … 98 & 99

Hello…. another couple of ATC’S to add to the tally…

Again scratch paper cut up and used as the base. Over this I added texture paste through a Finnabair stencil. When dry it was time to add more colour.  I used Distress crayons in blue and green to cover the whole card, then used another stencil to remove some colour using a baby wipe.

I then used both Inktense and pens to add doodling around the shapes and a little bit of white paint on a sponge to add some different tones. I decided against adding an image to these and instead stamped a Stampotique sentiment onto paper to cut out and added to the cards.

The same sentiment for each but both done differently.

Really love the colours in these… and the fact that the layers underneath are still visible in places to give the cards some depth.

So that’s 99 made… wonder if I can get another 1 in before the end of the month?

Happy crafting !

A little thank you card

Just a little thank you card to say … well you know… thanks!

I grabbed a piece of Gelli printed book page that had aleady been cut to atc size and so perfect as a card topper on this 4×4 card blank.

I edged the book print with midnight muse ink and then added little sticker from my embellishment box.  Then some bakers twine and a little bird I had stamped ages ago at a class, coloured it in and then never used.

Finished with a hand stamped ssentiment and a tiny button.  Cute!

Gelatos, Faber Castell, Off the Grid, Stampotique, Use them or Lose them

Use them or lose them #16 Off the Grid

So this year I have decided to challenge myself to make a set of cards, scrapbook page or journal layout using each of my stamp sets as I know I have some I rarely use!

This week I thought I would see where the small background stamp Off the Grid would take me.  I haven’t used this stamp anywhere near as much as I thought I would and no idea why.

I decided to build some backgrounds using it and some gelatos.

image

image

The first lot of stamping was using Old Olive ink and then just started building up the gelatos in layers.

image

A few different colours… and then some more stamping, this time using the gelatos to stamp with.

image

image

I left this to dry and grabbed some Stampotique flowers I had stamped back in February when I was at Art from the Heart.  I coloured them with gelatos and cut them out.

I then added some silk thread and a sentiment and edged the panel and the Old Olive mount.  Perfect modern, fun and arty cards.

So what do I think of the stamp? Well even though I love the results of this I could easily have used another background stamp and the grid stamp still doesn’t strike me as one I would grab time and time again (unlike dictionary or hand carved) so I think this might be going in the lose it pile.

Will give it one more play later this week and then decide for sure.

Happy crafting!

Using the pieces left from class

As regular blog followers know, I attended a class in Harrogate with Karen Hayselden where I decorated a cute bird house.  I also made some backgrounds as part of the class and stamped some images as options for the birdhouse.  Today I am sharing what I did with these…

image

This one had a little extra black added to provide a shadow for the Kate Crane Stampotique girl.  I then layered the image up and added more shading with the Pitt pens.  I also added stencilling with the Tim Holtz stencil I bought on the day of the class..  This is definitely my favourite stencil of the moment.

The next one…

image

This I mounted up on a few layers and added black as an outline on the panel.  I added the sentiment from my Kim Dellow Paperartsy stamps and a button brad.  I also added some card candi as a further embellishment.  Again I shaded with pens and paint.

The next two were the smaller pieces cut off the others…

image

This I kept quite simple with just a bit of extra black for shadow and layering on black paper and the card candi.

image

The last one I used a different stamp.

image

I also took the other off cuts to create some different panels and added a little stencilling on the base card too to bring it all together.  Love the Tim Holt crazy birds and cats collection … so it was good to stamp a couple of these out at the class to play with them.  The sentiment is a Dylusions stamp that I bought on the day

So plenty of fun from the 1 piece of a4…

Hope you like what I did with them.

Update from Harrogate

Hi there

So today I indulged in some arty therapy with some dear friends, no my sisters, in Harrogate at Art from the Heart with a great teacher, Karen Hayselden.  And I decorated a very cute birdhouse, made some stunningly bright and busy layered backgrounds and a big splodgy mess.  I played with air drying clay, did a bit of stamping and had a crafty spend.  I learnt techniques,  played with supplies I hadn’t tried before and best of all spent time with loved ones.  Sadly one of our group was MIA as she was unwell but another came in her place so that was a positive surprise to a poop situation.  I also got to meet in real life two new friends (although I didn’t really chat much as we were at opposite ends of the table and all working too hard to stop really … sorry Chris and Linda for not being more sociable).

So enough blathering… I suppose you want to see what I made… well nothing is exactly finished as I want to do something slightly different from the class ‘sample’ but here it is as it currently stands…

The light in the hotel room isn’t the best for showing it off.. I will post and updated daylight photo as soon as I can.  It is quite grungey but also bright and shiny with about a million layers of paints (maybe an exaggeration but a lot of layers!).

To get used to creating layers we also made a couple of backgrounds…

image

… those to the left at the top.  I then made a splodgy mess out of my palette. … There was a lot of black left on my palette so it is a very black splodgy mess… It needs further working on that’s for sure.  And then I stamped some images out for adding to my birdhouse as options and for adding to my boot I made from clay too… no pics of this as yet… It’s in the car at the moment…. It needs to dry before I can start decorating it.

Of course there was a little crafty spend too…

Some bits and pieces… inks a couple of wood mounted stamps I couldn’t resist a stencil I’ve been seeing on you tube videos and admiring and some dylusions quote stamps that I know I will use a lot in journalling projects. Plus a watering can archival (very useful essential) and matt medium…. oh and a distress stain to complement the other warm colour ones I’ve got so my distress stain collection is complete for me.

The day was rounded off with chat with Darcy and Marie before dropping Darcy off for her coach home, then a lovely tea with Marie in the pub (wine has been drunk) and watching the Paperartsy periscopes and utube launch videos on my phone with Marie.  Wifi far too slow for ipad to watch them (poo) so good job I’ve got loads of data on my phone!

So a nice early night to make up for the early start and then tomorrow a nice big brekkie with Marie before we head home.

Such a lovely day with loved ones.  Was great to see Jayne and Marie for the first time in just over a year (we really shouldn’t leave it this long between meeting up), and a lovely surprise to see Darcy again.  Loved being creative, learning new things and creating something different. Missed the lovely Lynn and hope she is feeling better really soon.

Small update… couldn’t sleep straight away so did some colouring…

Night all… and of course happy crafting!
