Tropical hideaway play

This card was sort of inspired by both Jennifer Maguire (her video made me grab the stamp) and instagram YVON0202 who I had seen using this stamp with a few colours … but I did go for a different style in the end so inspired by but far from copied!

I used stampin write markers to colour the image in using lots of different greens and some water spray which helped to blend them. If you want to see how I made it I did video it!

I decided to then use the Forever Flourishing dies and Biggest wish stamp set for the main elements with an embossed white panel behind the focal image. The twine and the sparkly gems finished it off.

I took some pics the night I made the card but this next one shows the colours better in the daylight.

Love that twine bow and the colour mix in the background and love even more that I have a second background yet to be used.

Once again I also videoed the process which you can watch if you fancy it!

All the greens card

Todays blog post started because I found a piece of glossy photo paper I had obviously been using as a mop up from ink smooshing. It had been hanging around on the desk and I decided the day had come to play with it.

As you know I am assessing my stash at the moment for its future usefulness and also to make sure I get my use out of it so decided to grab this Tropical Hideaway background stamp and stamp it in black over the top of the inky background.

I don’t actually think I’ve got much use out of this stamp so prepare to see it a few more times as I want to have a few more goes with it before I think to get rid of it.

I love how the smooshed background works well at adding colour and depth to the leaves and with very little effort!

I then grabbed a couple of scraps of green and black to add the banners and the rectangle to add the focal image to.

I chose the splendid thoughts stamps and coloured the leaves with my stampin blends and then cut it out. I did choose to fussy cut as I couldn’t be bothered to grab the Big Shot and die cut it.

Next I added a little sentiment and embossed it in white on the black.

I decided the bright lime green Parakeet Party was perfect for the card base but did add a black base to the stamped background to frame it first.

Finished off with the black gems too.

Simple but I think a really interesting card especially as that glossy photo paper creates a nice different texture from my usual card backgrounds.

Playing with Tropical Hideaway and oxides

Had a playtime with the Tropical Hideaway background stamp and this is the card I made…

I had no plan making this card… I videoed the process… which shows how I had zero idea what I was doing, but had fun as I did it!

I teamed it with a label, gold laser cut embellishment and the lovely green twine. I finished off with an Avery Elle sentiment stamp and die set.

Love this!

UK stampers forum tag swap

Hello! Hope you are having a good day and thanks for popping by to see my blog.

Today I have a tag I made for the UK stampers forum swap over on Facebook. I love making tags from bits and pieces I have on my desk and I decided to grab some of the flowers leftover from the card I shared a couple of days ago as the main images on this tag.

However the rules of the UK stampers forum is to include stamping so I grabbed the Tropical Hideaway background stamp and Parakeet Party to give this a fabulous stamped and bright background. I then added the fussy cut paper flowers.

Next to decide on a sentiment for the tag and this time I chose the saleabration set Amazing Phrasing and from that made my sentiment.

I did pop the Hey up on foam to give some dimension. Then I hunted through the ribbon box and chose this leftover ribbon which coordinated with the flowers. I decided to mount my tag on a slightly larger piece of the Petal Pink as it felt like it needed framing and this worked well.

I finished off with three sequins that are a dark iridescent navy colour.

Hopefully the swap recipient will like this bright and cheery tag!

New goodies playtime

I got some new stash to play with and I made a card for my daughter to celebrate the end of her exams … because yes we got there!

I started by stamping the Tropical Hideaway background in Parakeet Party (I love this colour … it’s so fresh!) then some of the leaves from Splendid Thoughts in both the Parakeet and Tahitian Tide. I decided the card needed a pop of pink then so die cut the bowl shape twice from Polished Pink.

Then I grabbed the Amazing Phrasing stamps that are from Saleabration and stamped the Woo Hoo! and the You Did It! in Orchid Oasis … yes using lots of the In Colours on this card!

I layered them all up and added some dimension with foam under one of the sets of leaves and the bowl shape piece. I then added some gems for bling.

I then wrote inside the card and it got messy and smudgy and I ran out of space so I ended up cutting the card front off… adding a panel of the Polished Pink and more foam and adding it to a 6×6 card.

This time my inside writing went fine and job was a good’un!

So you can see both the original and the final card… what do you think? I think the extra pop of pink on the final piece is actually better and helps frame it all … so a happy accident!
