Another swap project…. This time a tag for UK stampers forum and the theme was anything goes… so i stuck the video on so you can watch the process… here.
And this is what I made…
Love all the textures and layers of colour and that embossing powder is amazing! I adore it!
So happy with how this came out and fun to make.
Final list of favourites for 2017 today… And today it is techniques! Yes what techniques have been my favourites for this year?
Well first has to be masterboards! Whether for ATCs or cards I have been churning out masterboards rather a lot and love creating them so much… want to see some… Here goes…
I mentioned embossing yesterday in terms of products…. well embossing has been high up on the list of techniques this year. Even if only embossing the sentiment the versamark, powder and heat tool have been to hand rather a lot! Here are just some of the embossed projects!
And of course stamping remains my go to technique regardless of what type of project I make. I rarely make anything without a stamp making an appearance somewhere. I don’t really have a favourite stamp but new companies I’ve enjoyed this year are the #badassartchick ones which I subscribed to for funky and interesting stamps and the Gummiapan text one I bought I love too. I also have a few Visible Image stamps I bought this year which are fun. Of course I’ve loved Paperartsy and Stampin Up stamps too and continued to add to my collection of those too. And I must mention that Creative Stamping magazine have had some fab sets this year too.
Finally sewing… not exactly featured heavily this year but I have been known to add sewing to the list of techniques especially when doing mixed media. It might only be a small project but this landscape ATC comes to mind when I think of sewing. So it’s on this one piece of artwork I will finish my favourites of 2017 series.
Hope you have enjoyed my slightly different round up of the year and will be joining me for more creative fun in the next year.
More painty background cards. These were made with the paint left on the palette from the cards I shared yesterday and another project I am working on. They were made in a couple of stages and finally got finished last night.
The backgrounds were lots of different paints all from the pink and purple colour family with a little bit of blue thrown in… especially with the extra paint from the other project. I love all the layers this created. I’d also added some stamping although kept that quite simple with some stars and the Gummiapan text stamp. Then I had to decide what to do with them.
The first I decided to use a new Visible Image stamp of the camera and stamped and cut that out. I used my stamp platform to ensure it stamped perfectly as it’s quite a large and detailed image.
I decided it needed some relief to the background so added the diecut wonky circle from black cardstock and then the sentiment that I embossed and affixed using a brad. I mounted it onto black and then decided to emboss some vellum to create a textured background.
The second card I decided to add a strip of the vellum that I had cut off the first card and again used a brad to affix it.
I decided to heat emboss the main image onto the background directly and used the beautiful leaf sprig from my new Stampin Up Palette of Petals set I got on pre order from the new spring summer catalogue.
I also chose a sentiment from that set and heat embossed that onto a label and mounted that on black card along with the whole panel.
With all the art alchemy paints added to the backgrounds and the feature images I think these are fun modern and edgy cards but still full of sparkle and shine.
Happy with these … And my new stash. I’m going to have lots of fun with the new stash I have recently purchased.
Yes it is the hubbys birthday today… Happy birthday to my soulmate and best friend!
Right that’s enough soppiness for you to endure..
Here is the far from soppy card I made!
I used a new stencil and stamp set from Visible image which I bought specifically to make him a card as I knew it would be perfect for him. I blended a background of wilted violet and candied apple distress oxides first and the edged it with black soot. I added the stencil and used black soot to add the images. Then I made sure that was dry before embossing the main image.
I embossed it twice to give it extra thick texture. Then I embossed the sentiment and stamped the other elements including his name.
I decided to edge the card blank with some stamping from the same set before layering the panel with some foam and then the other elements on top.
Finally added the black gems … which I think go with the card even though I wouldn’t normally add bling to a boy card!
I also decorated the envelope with the same star grungey image.
So there you are… a funky and fun card for my rocking hubby! Perfect!
