DT: Creative Knockouts – Polkadoodles – lots of layers

Hi! Thanks for visiting my blog – it really enjoy sharing my creations here and it is lovely to have visitors pop by to see them and comment on them! ❤️

So today’s blogpost is a design team creation for Creative Knockouts where the challenge is ‘lots of layers’ … and I interpreted that in a few different ways.

I used the gorgeous Jolly Santa image from Polkadoodles who are sponsoring the challenge this fortnight… and isn’t he gorgeous?

So how did I make this – well I started by printing Santa four times at the same size – and then colouring him (and the cute penguins) with alcohol markers and then a gold podcast pen for his belt and the star. ⭐️

I die cut one using the circle die and this became the base of the image.

I then selected different parts of the image to cut out … the snowbank under Santa, the whole of Santa and the sack over his shoulder, santas coat up to his hat brim, and then his nose, beard and splendid moustache.

I then used two layers of scrap cardstock between each layer as I adhered it to the base panel- so I got a few layers for the decoupage effect. I used scrap cardstock rather than foam adhesive to reduce the dimension but it still ends up being quite chunky!

So that was my first response to lots of layers … next my background to the image was lots of layers of different patterned papers.

I chose papers I thought worked together that are left in my stash after a significant depletion in papers following Christmas in July (don’t worry I have a plan to rectify the depletion soon!) and created two square panels to fit on the 6×6 card base.

Then die cut a circle to go underneath the main image and two strips cut into banners for the left hand side.

So that’s a lot of layers!

Didn’t quite stop there though – the sentiment die cut is stacked a few layers of die cuts and there are layers of die cuts under the stamped strip die cut too!

Inside the card I used the leftover strips of paper to create little banners, a circle punched element and then cut the little penguin out of the leftover bits from the image I had cut layers from and added him!

I finished off the card with the card Candi and lots of the clear glitter glue to make Santas outfit sparkle along with the snowdrift.

Seriously in love with this image and how it came out on this card. Will admit when I originally coloured the four versions of the image that the intention was to make four cards but actually I love how this became a more special card with all those layers!

Hope you think so too!

Happy crafting!

Catherine
