Todays design team contribution is actually a card I made way back in March for my parents anniversary but never got round to sharing as I wanted to share it for the Anything Goes with Dies challenge at Happy Little Stampers.

I took some pretty peach and pink coloured cardstock and die cut lots of the pretty leave die from the Stampin Up Artistic die set. Using these I created a spray effect.

Then I took some of the rose gold foiled cardstock from my stash and cut out the main floral cluster and a label from the Christmas Labels set.

I also cut another smaller label for layering under the floral cluster.

I decided rather than stamp a sentiment I would use the Crafters Companion On your anniversary die and cut that out and back it with the rose gold to make sure the word was more visible.

When arranging the card I wanted something a little more… so took a panel of white cardstock and embossed it with the old paper folder (I often forget to emboss and am always kicking myself when I do it as I should use the folders more!). This created a subtle but beautiful texture for the cluster.

I used foam between layers to give the card some dimension and then inside I heat embossed the stamped sentiment and used left over scraps of the same cardstock to add leaves in the corner.

I didn’t end up doing any decorating on the envelope as I hadn’t used any patterned paper and figured the die cut would be unnecessary.

So my parents loved the card (way back in April) and I must admit looking again at the pictures I am so pleased with it too! It also makes a nice change in pace to look at this rather than Christmas stuff!

Kelly at Creative Knockouts gave us the theme of Snow much fun to play with this week and here is my design team contribution… four cards!

As soon as I saw snow I had to have fun with the Snow Crystal stamp… such a fabulous stamp to play with and use different techniques. This time I used some lilac cardstock and stamped it four times in versamark and then used different heat embossing powders to create four similar but different cards.

Here is how they looked at the beginning…

Firstly clear embossing… (bottom right). After the embossing I took some distress inks and a bit of distress oxide to blend around the embossing.

This created a resist finish where the snowflake retains the original cardstock colour and then the background and area around the stamped image changes colour. I also added some splatters of white paint to add a matt splatter. I chose to finish all the cards with a sentiment from Christmas to remember and some scraps of different ribbons and twines. I also raided the gem box for different gems.

I’ve just realised when looking at these photos for blogging that this is missing the bow I added so will have to take another pic and add that in later!

Secondly a glitter embossing powder which is mixed with opaque white (top right).

I also added distress ink to this but more of the pink tones. This one I added some of the holographic little snowflake embellishments too. I did add both white paint splatters and pink ink splatters to the background on this too.

Next up a dark embossing powder… this was actually Baked Texture but the qualities of baked texture don’t really apply when doing this as it was mainly the dark blue colour that stuck to the detailed image (bottom left).

This one I inked heavily a d added purple ink splatters. I like the contrast of the sheer organza ribbon on this. I also heavily inked the sentiment label to have it match better.

Finally…. I hate glitter but decided to throw caution to the wind and use the heat and stick powder and use loose glitter. (Top left).

Well as much as this is super pretty and was an easy card to make (no inking or splattering) the clear up after using loose glitter is awful and I am very shimmery after making this card. I am very tempted to just chuck away the pot of glitter as I hate using it so much but that would be wasteful and maybe in a couple of years I will embrace the glitter again!

Love all four cards for how different they look … but still regretting the use of loose glitter so have to say that final one will not be going on my “must make again” list! 🤪

So another UK Stampers forum swap tag to share with you today using leftover papers from the Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge at the beginning of the month, this time teamed with Nature’s Prints.

I made the tag from white cardstock then added strips of the paper from the Making Cards magazine old stash I made the Christmas cards from.

Then I added the die cut wreath,. The stamped and die cut foliage the punched circles of mirror card and the sentiment I fussy cut out.

I finished with some string from the stash.

Simple but cute as a tag for swapping.

This week on my challenge I was inspired by the fabulous Kristina Werner and these simple cards she made … admittedly I say simple but her watercolour techniques take a huge amount of practice and control … but I figured I could do some stripes easily enough… and this led to these two backgrounds.

I actually used Brusho powders as my watercolours which accounts for some of the flecks of colour in the sky on the right hand side one. I chose to do one with Prussian Blue and the other with the Black (but did add a bit of each in both of them).

I decided to turn these into landscape scenes and then to add my reindeer silhouette images.

The stamps, including the sentiment is an old Woodware set I love. I love how they make the scenes come to life.

I think I prefer the composition of the black toned one but love the colour of the prussian blue … really should do more simple elegant cards like these!

I had some leftover pieces of patterned paper and I just couldn’t bear to throw them away …. and so I decided to cut them into strips and have them create a new patterned paper! I then sewed down the edge of each side of the strip to secure them in place.

This created a lovely panel for a longer line card (DL). I mounted it on Blackberry Bliss which teamed perfectly with the papers and then had a hunt through the stash for an image to work with the panel.

I settled on this image which was a digital stamp printed and coloured with promarkers. I fussy cut her out and then decided an oval shape would look nice for her to sit on.

After die cutting the oval I grabbed my embossing folder and made the oval all textured and this pattern worked well with the papers.

Now for the card base. I made it out of Smoky Slate but I added a splatter of black wink of Stella so that it had got some interest going on. Then I added the main panel and image.

I embellished with some sari silk ribbon in a bow and some lavender shaded pearls and the bright pink sentiment strip!

So cute and a lovely card considering it started as scraps of paper.

I’m back for another design team contribution for the Happy Little Stampers Birthday anything goes challenge.

This time I went and grabbed the pouch of fussy cutting from the Paper Blooms dsp I did a few months ago and then set aside …

I used quite a few of the images I had fussy cut on a card I shared at the time but this time decided to choose all the pieces that were off the edge.

I adhered these to the edge of a panel of basic white onto which I stamped the sentiment (yes Biggest Wish came out to play again) I then added foam and added it to a panel I had dry embossed with Painted Texture. I decided to soften it with a border of wrapped bakers twine before then adding the focal pieces of the flower cluster and the leaf.

Love how this came out.

Inside the card I added two more of the off the edge pieces.

A cute and simple card.

Well here we are … Happy advent all!

At the beginning of the year I put aside some Making Cards magazine kits I’d had in my stash for ages and decided that these would be my Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge for the year… and here is my last one for 2022. As it was a Christmas’s type paper I decided to go for it and make a lot of cards rather than just the two I’ve been making all year round.

I used a template I’ve used before (Cards by Kendra challenge 6) and added one more piece of 6×6 as I only had 5 papers in this kit.

It was a challenge to use as many of the large images with the papers too and so I did divert away from the layouts that Kendra had designed a couple of times.

I decided to stick to mainly using the Merriest Moments stamp set alongside the kit and added in a few die cuts from the Natural Prints set too. I also added some embossing … in fact dry embossing and lots of gold embossing as this seemed like a good way to finish off the cards. The sequinned ribbon I have had in my stash for years so it was good to use that too.

I always make these sort of card challenges in stages … First the cutting, then the stamping and arranging, then adhering and finally embellishing.

It was fun to make Christmas cards in less traditional colours too… the autumnal colours however worked well I think … with the regal gold elements.

Inside the cards and on the envelopes I added strips of remaining paper and some stamped elements, just to finish them off too.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this year’s design team contributions. I’ve certainly enjoyed getting good use out of the hoarded supplies.

Unfortunately this is the last challenge for Craftyhazelnuts patterned paper challenge as Hazel is taking a break from running the challenge. I’ve loved taking part and will miss the group.

As there is still a lot of dsp in my stash though I won’t be stopping the making so will just keep on ploughing through it and try to resist buying too much more!

Final day of Martin’s challenge and I made a really cute little card for the theme of Wreathed in Joy.

I definitely struggled with doing Martin’s daily challenge and so after the first week and a bit I’ve not really managed to do much …. but I’ve kept the challenge so it’s always something I can go back to be inspired by. It’s also been amazing seeing everyone’s interpretation of the themes and given me plenty of ideas to try out in future.

It is a 4×4 card and using the fabulous bright and cheery Parakeet Party cardstock… not exactly your traditional colour for Christmas .. but it is cute and I love it.

I used the Arrange a Wreath stamp to stamp the wreath to the right of the panel and a few additional leaves which I fussy cut out to add.

Then the sentiment I added to a banner that I made with the banner punch.

Next up I found some bows I had already die cut from scraps one one of which was a light blue colour and the other white. I added the green ink to both … the blue one heavily so it became very vibrant and darker and the white with a blending brush for a softer look. I added blending too over the stamper wreath to give the card some depth of colour.

I raised up the banner for dimension and added some of the little iridescent snowflakes onto the wreath for embellishment.

So cute and with that … Martin’s Mayhem Christmas challenge is over! What a fab challenge it has been when I’ve joined in. If you go on Instagram and use the hashtag you will see all the amazing cards people have made. It has been so inspirational!

Just three more to finish for my own challenge and I think we can safely say I’ve done my Christmas crafting for the year!

A little while ago I saw a video from Jennifer McGuire showing this technique of offset strips to make a cool background. I have tried this technique in the past and thought i would have another go but this time in a blue/green colour scheme.

This time I stencilled the white over the inked background rather than stamping. I also die cut the shape at an angle so the stripes don’t go vertically. I also added some white paint splatters to add a little brightness to the white as the white ink is quite muted.

As much as the background is lovely it is the focal image that I love most about this card. I used the fabulous Splendid Thoughts set and my Stampin Blends to colour the images.

I love how they turned out. I added a couple of die cuts behind each image to stack them (real Jennifer style!). The bowl shape I die cut from the blue cardstock but gave it a very heavy wink of Stella covering to make it very shimmery.

I finished with the gems to add more shine and a sentiment using Alpaca Pals stamps.

I mounted the background panel onto some blue cardstock and then the card base was made from a pale lilac cardstock from the stash.

Love this card so much. The background I wasn’t 100% happy with at the time but by the time the focal image went on it looked amazing!

Hello!

When I saw it was snowflakes I knew I wanted to use the Snow Crystal stamp as its one of my favourites but I decided to go a bit more graphic and spotted this paper in my stash that I thought was perfect for making me go a bit different with this stamped image.

As the paper is quite modern and a bit funky I decided to team it with kraft card and black card with the white embossed snowflake. I also added another layer to the snowflake with the laser cut embellishments too!

Each card is slightly different with the black panel slightly different in size and how I laid it out, but otherwise I kept the design simple with the square of dsp.

I also used the checked ribbon and some sequins to embellish.

Love this different look for a snowflake card… usually just go for pastels for snowflakes so it was good to use this very bright dsp and black and kraft instead.

Do you want more snowflake inspiration …. here is the card I made in last years challenge. Now hopefully this years challenge I will get a little further on as this was the last one I made last time. Fingers 🤞!
