Artist Trading Coins, Inktense, Derwent

Playing with fabric Artist Trading coin

So tonight I have an experiment to share with you… a coin made from layering fabrics and playing (badly!) with my sewing machine.

I layered a piece of thin cotton onto some thick black fabric and then started playing with the tension and stitch choice on my sewing machine. This created a really fun effect and was very funny and equally frustrating. It did result in the needle being rethreaded several times! Plus I kept thinking how much my Mum would be upset at my misuse of the machine! Lol!

Anyway when I had finished sewing I added the colour using Inktense blocks and water. Love how this turned out… so bright and funky!

I finished it by mounting to a mountboard circle I had cut using a die.

What do you think?

Don’t forget I have the new trading swap group over on Facebook if you want to join in and make some coins for a swap?

Happy crafting!

  1. What do I think,!?! I’m blooming amazed as I have just sorted out some material to have a go! I have just glued my material to a base but I love what you have done. I never thought of actual stitching. ….just stamping and colouring the background….. love how yours has turned out. Another exceptional idea.
